4chan Firefox Extension

Name: DamageInc !euFrYW8TXE 2005-12-20 22:12

Post suggestions for new features/improvements, report bugs and ask for help regarding the 4chan firefox extension in here.

See /g/ for the new beta.

Name: Anonymous 2005-12-20 22:42

dunno if this was addressed, but let's say i was on /a/ or any other board and use the 4chan menu on the top and click on the same board again, it would not reload the page

Name: DamageInc !euFrYW8TXE 2005-12-20 23:40

It should refresh the page, well it is doing for me. I'll look into it though.

Name: Anonymous 2005-12-21 10:50

Wouldn't it be better to do this in /g/? Anyways, I request a quickreply function exactly like the one in 4chan for world4ch. I dislike having to wait for the page to refresh after I reply to something. With Quick Reply I just hit reply and minimize.

The one in /g/ won't last all that long, I'll be de-stickying it a day or two after the next version is released. I'll probably link to this thread in the extension somewhere, so that ideas can easily be passed on to me.
I didn't bother adding quick reply here, since it already kind of has it, but I guess I could implement it.

>>5
I would have posted this in /sug/ if it wern't such a shithole. Here is where requests relating to the extension belong (or the temp /g/ thread).

when i click to go to a board, could you make it so it goes straight to the board without frames?

Yes, you can configure that in the config window which is accessible though the extensions window.

Thread expander suddenly stopped working. I have no idea of why, I've tried restarting firefox.

Using beta 2 of the extension and Firefox 1.5 on Windows XP.

looks really good, it has some nice things, but are you planing to include others imageboards... I am talking about not4chan...

not4chan is included? I don't plan to add any other imagboard sites, I plan to keep it just a 4chan (and it's other projects) extension. I may add the option to add your own link to the menu, but I haven't decided yet.

Name: Anonymous 2005-12-24 18:05

sotty, my bad, I was looking for the word not4chan, I didnt saw the /l/, /tl/, /rl/ and /sm/, the I thinks it is perfect!!! great job!!

Wonderful extension. I don't really need/want the 4chan menu in my Firefox bar, though (love the quick reply and new thread expansion features), can I get an option to turn off the menu altogether?

Name: Anonymous 2005-12-25 13:59

wel, after using it a bit, I finally found how to use the thread wathcer... exlent idea, really, but I found what to me is a problem... it only shows you the threas you marjer in the board you are in... meaning that is a mark a thread in /l/ and then go to /rl/ then I wont see the thread I marked, is there a way to make then visible at all times... maybe an option for the one that want it... well tell me what you think..

Name: DamageInc !euFrYW8TXE 2005-12-25 15:24

>>21
Click the TW link at the top right of the page, that has links to all watched threads from all boards.
I may add more thread options for watched threads in the future, so that threads could always appear on the inline thread watcher view.

Name: Anonymous 2005-12-25 15:39

yes, I knew about the TW link, what I meant was to put it in the inline thread wathcer (wich I bealive is the one in the left Top of the board pages...) but with the TW it is not as importat, keep it up!!

How do you mean? It adds the thread's title (if there is one), that seems to work, and it shows it in the other view, so I don't know what the problem is. could you elaborate?

One thing you can change is where the thread watch bar goes. It always pushes the comment box into that new jlist advert. Just makeing it smaller would do. I like tor extention thoe, its nice and makes wasteing time on 4chan that much easyer.

Where would it go though? I could add an option to have it in different places, but where? bottom?, top?, ???. I may try and make it smaller, or make it more configurable, perhaps.

4chan plugin kills flashget extension, fyi

Name: Anonymous 2006-01-02 17:09

I have an idea for another feature.

Clicking the topic name of a discussion would send you, for example, to this place:
http://www.world4ch.org/read/sci/1135215980/1-40
now, I don't like that. What I want is to be sent to this place instead:
http://www.world4ch.org/read/sci/1135215980/
thus viewing all posts in that topic, not just posts 1 to 40. This would obviously be optional.

Name: Anonymous 2006-01-04 23:03

The extension started causing firefox to not accept keyboard or mouse input every other time I started a new instance. If I disable it, it reenables itself. So I tried uninstalling it and now it's in that fucking extension limbo where it's still there yet you can't do shit to it.

I'll see if I can work out why.

>>32
Sounds good, I plan to implement some features for w4ch, perhaps for the next version.

>>33
I can't think why that would be, It's never happend to me. But uninstalling the extension should work...

Name: AlexMoron !JUmCz2K4z6 2006-01-07 23:08

I found a bug after using this great program for a day.

It seems that this extension screws up my tooltips and titles. Whenever I hover over an image, the title (tooltip) appears not under my cursor but really high up. Here is an image for example (note the missing cursor which is supposed to be over the Quick Reply button):

http://www.retrogravity.com/alex/untitled.GIF

Another thing it does regarding tooltips, is in the browser itself, the tooltips sometimes will flash and then dissappear making it impossible to read them.

I've narrowed it down to this extension after disabling it and noticing the problems being gone.

If you can fix this, thanks! This program is already awesome and with these minor bugs fixed, would be perfect!

Name: Anonymous 2006-01-07 23:33

This is >33.
It turns out there was an extension conflict. One of them was messing with the 4chan one and another one was causing the uninstall problem.

Name: anonymous 2006-01-07 23:46

I dunno if you'd like to incorporate the not4chan downloader into your extension, but it seems like they'd compliment each other pretty well.

http://www.geocities.com/rtmanga/

Name: DamageInc !euFrYW8TXE 2006-01-08 11:11

>>35
The tooltips are just the "title" attribute in html tags, I don't create them manually. So it could be a firefox bug. It's never happened to me, but I'll look into it.

>>36
:)

>>37
I have to be careful not to implement any features that could be used for leeching, since its an "official" extension. So, probably not, but I'll take a look.

Name: Anonymous 2006-01-09 15:57

Just found something that could be really useful.
When you expand a post, it would be nice to have the image title as in the normal reply page.
If possible, you could even always fetch image title (even in normal view) but it's not that important.
This extension rocks.

Name: Anonymous 2006-01-18 8:19

I get weird errors sometimes loading pages, I didn't think to screencap them til now. It's usually two back to back.

http://img495.imageshack.us/img495/8744/alert2fl.png

I've gotten some similar to the first one before but never the second one.

Name: DamageInc !euFrYW8TXE 2006-01-18 21:31

>>40
That happens when the page is corrupted. The extension assumes that page won't be corrupted, so it breaks when it is. I plan to rewrite the parser so that those errors shouldn't happen.

>>39
I don't see why not. I'll likely add this.

Also there will be a new (very minor) update coming soon. There is going to be an add where the thread watcher currently is, so I've made it so it can be dragged around, so you can put it where you want. It's not great, but it will do 'till the next real version.

Name: Anonymous 2006-01-19 13:34

your extension kicks major ass.
what about a "hide post" feature? for not having to scroll through those huge blocks of "kneading tits" or "a huge gaping vagina the size of a hallway" some people post in /b/ everytime you refresh the page.

Name: DamageInc !euFrYW8TXE 2006-01-19 19:45

>>42
thats something I plan to add into the next version.

Name: Anonymous 2006-01-22 21:03

The floating thread watcher box is kick ass.

It would be nice if the box showed up on the "Error: Thread specified does not exist" page too, though. That way you could delete the dead thread from your list and navigate to a new one from the error page.

Name: Anonymous 2006-01-24 3:56

When using the iFox theme in windows xp, version 1.5, the toolbar is all blacked-out, switching to the default solves this.

Name: DamageInc !euFrYW8TXE 2006-01-25 9:45

>>44
I don't see why not. I have thought about making it auto-remove threads from the thread watcher when they are deleted.

>>45
I am aware of this and I've tried to fix it in the past, I think its because the menu uses a background image. Also the iFox theme breaks the config menu, and I have no idea why that is.

In case anyone missed it, the (very minor) update from a few days ago: http://4chan.wrathfilledhate.net/menu/4chan.v0.4.1.2.xpi

Name: DamageInc !euFrYW8TXE 2006-01-27 12:30

>>47
I guess I don't mind (since I can't stop you anyway). I assume you're just hacking the xml files and changing the urls in the extension? The problem is that many of the board urls will be changing soon and its likely that the xml will change with later versions. Talk to me on IRC if you want more info, or something.

>>48
I assume they're using ajax, I couldn't do that with 4chan, it would have to be build into the server. Well, not without refreshing the page in the background every few seconds and updating the page afterwards, but that would put too much strain on the servers.

>>49
I've been thinking about doing something like this. perhaps add a button, or add an item to the context menu or something that allows you to save the image with its original name.

Name: MoeWong !tDnQfKmWUQ 2006-01-27 22:30

I also had to hack the .js file to point to modified XML files I stuck on my local server, otherwise it'd just ignore the local XML files and grab them from your site. I might hack up a quick PHP script that'll grab the XML file from you, then append my board additions.

I love this extension, but my thread expansion and movable thread watcher have never worked since their own respecive implementations. Ever. The expansion was just kinda something not that bad in the first place, but the default location for threadwatcher partially obscures my name field. I figured it was just randomly not working at all, though after reading this, it seems to be a real bug.

Well, I disabled all my extensions and it worked. Went back and selectively enabled them, I currently have it pinpointed. The only thing I have disabled is "IE Tab" and they both work again. I'm in love all over again.

I have a suggestion, though it may be too complex.

How about a thread RECORD feature?

It would allow you to mark a thread to be watched automatically by your browser while you're away at a set time interval.  In essence, it would check the thread every so often, save a copy from your cache, rinse and repeat, until the thread "no longer exists" or you take it off your record list.

Yeah, sounds overly complex, and I'm sure someone would set the interval to some ridiculously low time frame, thus raping 4chan with page requests.

I've seen a lot of cool threads that seem to build up incredible content, then die before I get to read it all.  :(

Name: Anonymous-san !Co7ArOTpLQ 2006-03-15 19:11 (sage)

>>71

I've been thinking of writing a separate application to do that myself, because there are tons of threads that I miss all over the place. I haven't gotten around to it because I'm lazy.

It's probably going to double as a Thread Packager, so that when a thread is archived it will also grab any linked images like DownThemAll does - if you've enabled that.

I have no idea when that's going to be done, probably never, but we'll see

Name: DamageInc !euFrYW8TXE 2006-03-16 21:15

>71
I've thought about adding an archiving feature. probably saving a thread to xml with an option to convert to xhtml. perhaps it would create a library of threads that you could view in firefox. but I haven't really thought about how, though it doesn't really sound too taxing.

For a 'record' feature, that might be better as a seperate app, as a-san suggests, or using exists ones (cron, wget etc), rather than having to keep the browerser open? Also this could easliy be used to leach , which is something I want to avoid.

Name: Anonymous 2006-03-27 0:53

>>51
Is it okay if you post details on how to do this?  I'd love to add some boards from some of the other image boards I go to.

I use Slogger in general. But you could set it to only save stuff from *.4chan.org.

If I want to save files to an easily-findable place, I just use DTA.

Name: Anonymous 2006-03-27 1:56

This'll probably make me sound like a total nub, but wtf is xpi?

Name: Anonymous 2006-04-06 3:26

XPI is the extension for Firefox plugins. Run it and Firefox should open it, drag the file into the Extensions Manager list.

Can someone hit me up with that .xml file link to reload so that the new boards work with the plugin? I forgot it.

Would it be possible to include a feature that saves pictures from a certain board into a certain directory?
Perhaps the user could set up a directory per board such as:

Pictures from /a/ save in: c:\4chan\a\
Pictures from /g/ save in: c:\4chan\g\
Pictures from /s/ save in: c:\notporn\s\

etc...

I have no idea how hard it would be to implement, but that feature would be infinitely handy, and would prevent folders of 1000's of unsorted pics from all over the place.

Oekaki board always appears in the menu, even if you set it to be disabled in the options. If you reopen the options after setting it to be hidden, it will be un-hidden. This is experienced with the most recent versions of firefox and the extension on both OSX and Linux.

Name: Anonymous 2006-07-02 21:31

Memory leak of xboxesque proportions?

Can anybody reproduce this?

1. Disable all extensions except the 4chan one
2. Disable all features in the 4chan extension
3. Open 6 different 4chan boards in tabs
4. Open task manager and watch the Firefox process
5. Click "reload all tabs" a few times
6. Note that Firefox allocates memory as usual
7. Check "enable post expansion" under General/Misc in the 4chan extension
8. Click "reload all tabs" again a few times
9. Not that Firefox will allocate several megabytes with each reload and won't free them
10. ???
11. :(

If I keep using Firefox with the 4chan extension enabled, it will grow to several 100 MB, become unbelievably slow and eventually crash. (Yeah Firefox will leak anyway, but the 4chan extension seems to accelerate it quite a bit).

Name: Anonymous 2006-07-03 7:23

Basically, all functions that involve modifying the 4chan HTML pages seem to make it leak like hell.

Too bad, I love this thing but this makes it completely unusable. :(

Name: Anonymous 2006-07-03 10:02

Does the 4chan extension use any data structures with circular references? This could be confusing the JavaScript garbage collector.

Name: DamageInc !euFrYW8TXE 2006-07-03 15:19

>>193
fixed in the next version, thanks.

>>194
I tried that (in linux) and it did keep allocating memory (which firefox does anyway for cacheing). Enabling post expansion didn't make a difference to me. I've never noticed it slow down the longer the application is running, or crash really; not since some beta.

I also tried it with the extension disabled. It still "leaked", though less (perhaps it saves the current sate of the page, with all of the buttons and crap?).

>>195
when a 4chan imageboard page is loaded it gets passed through a "parser" that changes some of the html structure to make it easier to implement the features, so some page modification is always happening (and the changes for post expansion are rather minor).

>>196
Not that I can think of, but maybe.

I'm not sure what I can really do about any memory leaks, I have no way of finding them. Best I can do is just look for things that arn't needed and remove them, and look for anything that might confuse the garbage collector.

Name: Anonymous 2006-07-03 15:48

>>197
>I tried that (in linux) and it did keep allocating memory (which firefox does anyway for cacheing). Enabling post expansion didn't make a difference to me.

It's different from the normal behavior here. I can get it up to over a hundred megabytes with a few dozen reload alls (Firefox's memory cache is limited here anyway). And it only seems to happen once I enable a feature that changes html code. When I just have the menu with the board list enabled, the leaking is industinguishable from Firefox's usual faggotry.

Do you have a Windows machine available you can try it on? (Or can somebody else reproduce it?)

Maybe the relevant part of the parser function is skipped or doesn't run all the way through when no feature that requires it is enabled?

Name: DamageInc !euFrYW8TXE 2006-07-03 17:30

>>198
I'll try it in windows next time I boot it.

The parser is run the same weather no matter which options are enabled. it mostly just restructures the page a little and gets useful info.

* Menu background fix for themes like ifox (set a background colour in the config, any valid CSS colour should work).

* can switch the mouse click behaviour of the menu (left click: new tab; right click: current tab)
* bug fixes I can't remember.

could you please fix the bug that makes post expansion conflict with ietab thanks

Name: Anonymous 2006-07-10 9:58

Here's a request. (Which i believe was asked earlier, just not in the way I'm thinking)

Could you add a section where you could enable the page options (quick reply, threadwatch, jump up/down) to other wakachan boards? (like iichan and such). I couldn't find out where that was done, but I did notice the custom XML and didn't know if that was for the drop down menu or where it tells your extension which boards to add your features to.

Name: DamageInc !euFrYW8TXE 2006-07-10 15:30

>>259
"other wakachan boards"
The extension doesn't support any wakachan boards, just 4chan. I assume you mean Wakaba (the board software), 4chan uses its own board software and it produces a very different html structure; so the extension won't work without implementing a wakaba parser. Its not a simple as just "enabling" it.

And yes, the xml is used for the menu and it does tell the extension which boards to add the features too. But as I say, enabling a wakaba board will just likely cause the extension to explode.

I may write a wakaba parser as an unsupported extra one day, but im not going to add iichan (etc.) boards to the menu (maybe allow custom ones to be added though the configuration though).

Name: Melodic Chaos !VHFVjqGR1. 2006-07-16 17:46

Name: Anonymous 2006-07-20 21:41

It's been mentioned a few times but, when using inline quick reply inside a thread the page loads but I have to refresh it myself to see my reply.

Also, could you add something to disable it on particular threads? It doesn't like massive threads (which has also been mentioned). Firefox hangs and pops up with continuous 'this script is not loading' messages. And when it does, it lags more than UT on dialup.

I also find I have to disable the plugin when people spam for the gets.

Name: Anonymous 2006-07-21 14:41

how about adding a "new" column to the thread watcher so that you know when there is a new post to your watched thread.

also when i click on the "TW" link to get the full view it does not do anything

>>307,309
Hm yes, the TW link does seem to be broken. I'll look into it, thanks.

>>308
I'm working on speeding things up at the moment. I'm adding a "post threshold" for threads, where if its loading a large thread it won't add buttons etc, which should speed things up a lot. The buttons will then be added when you hover the mouse over a reply for X <unit time>s.

>>308
I don't want to do things that would cause extra (un-needed) load on the servers. Thats why I haven't added something to tell you when there are new replies to a thread.

for some reason my 4chan extension is not working. when i right click the 4chan tabis there but has nothing in side it. also the quick reply, TW and expand feature do not work. its like internet explorer all over again to make things short

Name: Anonymous 2006-07-23 2:12

Any particular reason all the board are gone from the pref panels, I have a "4chan" menu I can't get rid of, and before that, I got a HTTP 200 code error every time I tried to delete a post (janitor here)?  Looks like it is because your site is down?

Seriously, it's irritating that every time your server goes down, the plugin stops working.  PLEASE build everything INTO THE PLUGIN and release a new version.  Your server isn't even remotely reliable enough to depend on. I don't care if I occasionally need to download an updated version (that's what firefox update checking is for).

Name: DamageInc !euFrYW8TXE 2006-07-23 5:04

>>311
If you are using the latest version (0.4.2.1) then, if the site is down, the last version of the board data will be used (but it might take a minuet or two after the browser starts).

If the quick reply etc. buttons are there, then their probably not working because you have ietab installed? I'm yet to find out why ietab breaks the extension.

>>312
The latest version (0.4.2.1, or maybe 0.4.2.0 for the janitor version I forget) has caching thought it might take a minute for the local file to be loaded, I'll make this a shorter in the next version. Though if you have boards showing in the menu then the problem is something else.

All of the "4chan" menus can be disabled through the config.

the error you are getting is because 4chans sub-donains have changed, and this requires alot of changes to the extension, and I report features to add to the admin/janitor version of the extension, which takes time, I can build you a version of the latest beta if you like, which most of the problems are now fixed (talk to me on irc).

And no, I'm not going back to the "board data is build into the extension" ways, because its such a hassle to have to release a new version every time something changes (which is usually quite often). It doesn't make any sense to do it that way.

I'll remind you that the extension does NOTHING that you can't do without it, it just aims to make it a bit quicker/easier. And no one is forcing you to use it (if moot is then he shouldn't be!).

Does anyone else have a copy of 0.4.3.1 on a website that isn't down right now? =/

I have 0.4.1.3, and the self-update has never worked, hence why I'm running an old version.  I do in fact have an --empty-- 4chan menu I can't get rid of in my menubar (the "menu" is completely disabled in the preferences.)

Why does the extension require so many changes when the boards switch hosts?  They don't change that often, or at least they shouldn't.  And why are the boards switching hosts, anyway?  CNAMEs anyone?

I've got 0.4.1.3, and it's useless at the moment.

Signed.

Downloaded the updated version from mainpage>tools, and now it doesn't work- period. LayoutDocument has no properties area which I assume is why the menu is unpopulated. I thought it would be because I had to uninstall the previous version rather than update, and the website was down. But none of the other features work either.

>>313
You have an option to disable/enable specific boards. Couldn't you expand that to modify/add custom menu items?

like "/home/username/pic.jpg" ,but this is the only site I've had this problem with even hotmail can upload files like this
any pointers ?

I doubt its a *nix pronblem, I use linux to write and test the extension, and seldom test it in windows. Is the upload problem with quick reply? if so is it the external window one or the embedded one? The external window one is broken untill I fix it (soon I hope :( ).

>>353
I assume you mean not just in /b/, where there are no thread titles etc. I'll look into it but it works on mine :(

Depending on how lazy I am I should be releasing an update soon.

Name: Anonymous 2006-08-08 8:55

Does this work with Mozilla Suite?

Name: Anonymous 2006-08-15 7:06

I can't get the one-window thread watcher to work like it used to. When I click the TW link, nothing happens. Any idea why ?

I also have 2 suggestions:
 - It would be cool if the TW pruned automatically deleted threads. I don't know if it can be done without too much work, but the check could be made at FF startup (to avoid putting too much constraint on server)
 - Given the fact that /b/ is now on forced_anon and topicless, it would be nice to add a description for watched threads. Simply being able to edit the topic title would do the trick.

Name: Anonymous 2006-08-16 3:50

Is there a way to stop it from auto-dialing on startup?

Also, single-post-threads appear to cause hiccups in page-rendering sometimes.

Name: Anonymous 2006-08-17 0:20

I'm also having problems with the TW link like >>357 hope it gets fixed soon

... Oh.

Well, when I turned on my computer this afternoon and went to the 4chan menu, it was empty. It might not have been the latest version, though. I grabbed it off the Tools page a couple weeks back. I'll have to update it with the one on wrathfilledhate when that's back up; thanks for the tip.

Name: Anonymous 2006-09-09 20:51

370 here: I updated to 4.3.1 when wrathfilledhate came back online, and it successfully got the board listings. However, the menu is empty yet again, so it seems it's not caching the data after all. The thread watcher's busted too, but I'm assuming that's a product of the missing board data.

Name: Anonymous 2006-09-14 3:43

I know, it makes no sense that hiding the posts causes the context menu to break, but everyone who was getting the context menu problem and disabled the thread hiding feature seemed to fix it by doing so. Though only a couple of people have said that this is the case. It makes no sense, which is why it is not yet fixed.

The post structure has to be like that or I would have to hide each post in the thread separately. But I don't think it's the changing of the page structure that’s causing the problem, since thats been in there for a few versions now and hasn't really changed, and gets done even if post hiding is disabled, to ensure that things are consistent.

>>402 here again.  Now I'm getting a tooltip everytime I pause with the mouse that says "The list of pages you're monitoring for changes. [alt-l]".  Earlier today I was getting one that said "Hide Thread".  It didn't matter what site I was at, but it wouldn't start happening until after I went to 4chan.  It goes away when I close and reopen FF, but if I visit 4chan, it'll start up again.  The tooltip even pops up on about:config, but a tab without anything in it won't give me a tooltip.  I'm getting no errors with the context menu and I have post hiding turned on.

Instead of hacking Firefox to be less of a pain to use, someone should just write a standalone application to browse and archive *chan content.

Name: DamageInc !euFrYW8TXE 2006-10-08 18:27

Right, I've finaly fixed it. I found a way to reproduce it and eventualy found out what was causing the problem, I did declare a variable before using it :o Any real language would complain, but not firefox, it is content to just subtly break the context menu!

Suggestion:
When we quote/reply to a thread it would update that thread like when we expand it, and only load the new images of the thread.

This and a reload button in each thread that do the same I think would reduce 4chan traffic a little (supposing everyone used the extension), and it would provide faster browsing. Right now it is really slow reloading a large thread. Further I would like to suggest too RSS...

I would like to suggest too, when some of this stuff of the extension are really ok, that you start embedding these functionalities in the pages, after all they are already in javascript...

I don't think it's possible to load part of a page. Even if DamageInc was to implement something that looked like it, he'd still have to read everything before the relevant posts. It wouldn't decrease traffic

I don't have anything to do with writing the code for 4chan, that's coda's job. Also forceing people to use these features would be a bad idea..

It's very much possible if you know what you have already read and that none of the previous data changes.  Just send a special HTTP query for a byte range in the document.

I'm gonna have to second you on that, it feels like taking a step back to go back to Firefox, the only reason i'm even considering it is because of this plugin, now if someone would make something similar for opera i'd be a happy man, it is very possible if i'm not mistaken.

Name: Anonymous 2006-11-03 1:40

All I used the extension for (when I used Firefox) was the links. When I switched to Opera, I just spent 10 minutes putting all the pages in a bookmarks folder and linking that folder in the Personal Bar.

I kinda wished I had used the other features (watch thread, for instance), but I was not privy to it back then.

Name: Anonymous 2006-11-05 11:33

Here's a weird one.  It's been a while since I uninstalled the extension, but when I used it, it interfered with my ability to use the keyboard to select text.

Outside of a text-entry box:  Double-click on a word at the beginning of the selection, hit shift-end to highlight from the beginning of the selection to the end of the same line, then move the cursor left with shift-left arrow to shorten the selection - the highlighted selection never moves left.

Name: Anonymous 2006-11-07 10:27

Ever since I upgraded to Firefox 2 the 4chan extension hasnt worked properly from the menus - if it's set to the default tab opening behaviour, both a left click and a middle click open the selected board in a new tab. If set to the switched behaviour, both open in the current tab.

Right now I have every other extension I use disabled, and it's still doing it. Any ideas? =(

They change the urls from bin. to zip. (back to how it was) and I've been away for a couple of days so didn't update the board xml. it should be working now, if not shout at me.

as for the disabling of the image expanding:

short answer: moot asked me to, it might come back.

long answer: the way in which the images are accessed is changing so it may not be possible for the feature to work any more. I think moot will be making a news post about it when the change happens, so I'll leave it to him to explain it, since I don't really understand it. If it turns out that the feature is still possible then I'll change it to make it work.

also: if you still want the feature for the short time it will still work, you could always go back to the last version.

Name: Anonymous 2007-01-09 3:38

Need inline image expansion!
Suggestion: I think it should be quite easy to implement the image expansion but still allow the one "active interstitial advertisement".
Could you not just have the plugin open a picture in a new tab once a day, and then revert back to the normal inline image expansion after that requirement is fulfilled? Perhaps the plugin could have a trigger that is automatically set to "On" when it checks with the 4chan serverside time and discovers it is a new day, and sets to "Off" once the active interstitial advertisement is used.

I'm positive that there is some way to include the inline image expansion feature with the changes that moot has deemed absolutely necessary.

I agree, I think I'll be able to come up with something that will expand images, and not screw the site by not showing the adds. The way I think it will work, is that the when you click on an image to expand it will decide/find out if it's time to show an add or not and show it if necessary, perhaps in a new tab, rather than expanding the image. You'd then have to click the image again to expand it.

I'll have to speak with coda to lean the specifics of how it works, but I should be able to get something working.

I liked when the image replies would just expand when I clicked on them instead of opening up a new tab with the image in it.  This started happening as soon as I downloaded the new tool set, but the image expansion thing doesn't work anymore even with the old tool set, because of the different between the Thumbnail url and the filename url, due to the whole eBay crappiness.

What other boards use the futaba script? other than 2chan and other Japanese boards? I think pretty much all of the none-4chan English boards use wakaba which produces different html, so I would have to modify the extension accordingly, which is probably a bit of work.

I've started redesigning the extension to be more expendable and would allow for other board types to be supported, but this is a lot of work, and I don't know if I will ever finish it.

>>513
Hm, I'll look into it.

it should only show you that when you first install/update the extension, and once every day. If you're outside the US then you will be taken straight to the image (in the new tab), this isn't ideal but its the only way it could be done.

Here's a suggestion for a feature:
something to 'expand all' images on that page. It would make the chore of viewing all of the images in any long thread very easy.

Name: Anonymous 2007-01-20 5:52

would it be possible to have threads expand automatically when you click on the ">>post#" link and the post being linked to is hidden

Also, when you expand a thread then shrink it back again, if you click on the ">>post#" link to a post that is hidden, the link no longer works unless you re-expand the post.

This is a wryyyyyypost from /g/:

So, does the latest version start to waste CPU time (up to 35% or so) after running for a while on anybody else's (Windows) computer too?

Or is it just a coincidence that it does that on all my Windows PCs?

Phenomenon disappears as soon as the 4chan extension is disabled.

It also used to have a huge memory leak here that wouldn't disappear unless I disabled all functions that modified the page HTML somehow. But in the latest version, you apparently can't do that anymore (it will always add those silly report buttons to every post - why the fuck do you need an extension to do that anyway?).

Any interest in a mod to the extension to hide sage replies in threads? I spent an hour or so this morning modernizing the extension (uses chrome.manifest instead of .rdf files), and writing up a quick hack to hide sage replies, the only catch on it so far is that it doesn't display user information in the 'Reply Hidden' bar, since I was writing/developing for FORCED_ANON boards.

Name: DamageInc !euFrYW8TXE 2007-02-25 9:07 ID:T1E7Z6bj

>>552
>modernizing
Funny, I'm doing the same thing. except I'm completely rewriting the extension because its a horrible hacky mess.

I didn't to .manifest because it didn't seem worth it for the cost of requiring ff 1.5+, but I guess everyone must be using 1.5+ now?

How much did you have to change?  If you like, email me your modified files and I'll merge them into the main code. It sounds like a feature that others might like. You'd be credited of course.

Also I plan to release a minor bug fix version shortly.

Name: ragzilla 2007-02-25 12:01 ID:ilSlYJ5H

The only changes were in 4chanlib.js , just had to add new functions to insert an appropriate bar. The 'modernizing' of the .manifest was mostly because I couldn't get a dev environment going with the old .rdf ones for some reason, overlays just weren't working right so I moved to a .manifest, but if you want a copy of that it'll need to wait to tonight since it's on my desktop at work.

More bitching:

Why is this an extension at all?! All features could be added right into the board script, bar the menu. But then a menu at the top of the page could be created as well...
All trivial except for long thread/post expansion. Why is this not done?

That way every user could benefit from these cool improvements etc ^^

Name: ragzilla 2007-02-27 21:13 ID:RR7u2qrf

>>563
probably because adding features like this would significantly slow down the board script, so such processing is better done on the client side, leaving the server code to have as little in it as possible.

Name: DamageInc !euFrYW8TXE 2007-02-28 20:13 ID:c42UW/pP

>>561
that's a valid point, I didn't test that.

>>563
the extension always was a menu extension, It just has accumulated page modifying features along the way. Also storing that much data in the cookie is restarted, and you wouldn't have access to other sub-domain cookies, so couldn't get a list of all watched threads, for example. Page level scripts are too restricting for what I want so I shan't write a script version. And, a menu on the top of the page completely defeats the point of the menu, the page already has board links!

If you want a cross-browser script then go ahead and write one.

WTSnacks wrote a good GM script, but I don't have a link.

A lot of the functions should be in the board itself and not as an addon to a specific browser. For example inline image expansion, inline thread expansion, report buttons for each post, and quick reply. They could be simply done in JS/AJAX...

Some other functions can only be done in a browser extension and they are still useful and it's good there's an extension, but why not give the above features to users of all browsers?

Can anyone tell me what I should do if I moved the thread watcher off the side of the screen? I could fix it by reinstalling firefox but I'm sure most people wouldn't want to do that to fix something so small.

type about:config into your address bar.

look through the list (or use the filter) for 4chan.tw_inline_pos_x and 4chan.tw_inline_pos_y

set 4chan.tw_inline_pos_x to 9
set 4chan.tw_inline_pos_y to 32

reload your page.

I've noticed that this extensions breaks the duckroll warning system for Greasemonkey. Now, the warning system might be a bit to general for the extension, but something along the lines of:

>>postinexternalthread [External thread]

Would be nice, and perhaps useful in boards other than /b/ as well :)

If you do implement this, putting the "[External...]" part in a color other than the standard green used for quotes would be awesome.

what the fuck? that would destroy duckroll forever. this isn't slashdot.

>that would destroy duckroll forever
You say that like it's a bad thing. Currently I check the link out by hovering my mouse above it, so this would only lessen the strain on my eyes.

Seriously though, it would be nice to have that notification so a new page doesn't blow up in your face when you expect to find something related in the thread you're reading, and I'm not referring to just *rolls and /b/.

Suggestion:
Give the ability to add a comment or custom title to threads on the thread watcher.
That wouldn't be hard, would it? Maybe you could make it so when you click on the thread title (or lack thereof) of a thread, it would turn into a text entry box allowing you to add or delete whatever you want.

Name: Anonymous 2007-05-24 1:19 ID:sMUPtQ8k

Dunno if that was already requested, but:
Make a new checkbox-option "Show left frame" or something. It really pisses me off to have that bar on the left when clicking on /b/ in the menu. That much, that I just use the extension for having that neat Quick Reply function, but I still always enter img.4chan.org/b/imgboard.html manually in the adress bar.

Found a problem when using DownThemAll alongside the 4chan extension. If you do dtaOneClick on an image that is only displayed when the thread is expanded. It will save only the HTML and not the image itself. This is despite adding the /http:\/\/.*\/src\// filter to DownThemAll. If you instead expand the thread using the traditional 'reply' and right click and save the image it saves correctly.

This only occurs if you expand from the page instead of the actual thread via the traditional reply and does not effect images that are shown on the page (Non-Expanded) instead of in the thread.

There's a bug when you click the [+] on a thread and someone in that thread links to the first post, the url of that links to <orz/dat/img>.4chan.org/<board>/1234567.html instead of <orz/dat/img>.4chan.org/<board>/res/1234567.html and thus causing it to bring up a 404.

How do you get it to show your reply after you post in a topic? Whenever I use quickpost it acts like I haven't made a post so I need to refresh and then find the topic again to see if the post went through. There are two quick reply types.  If you uncheck "Use inline reply window.", you get another type of window that refreshes after your reply.  Too bad spell check is broken in that one.

awesome plugin, seriously.

here's the thing.  i usually just refresh the first page of /b/.

through the navigation buttons, is it feasible to make it so the last "down" arrow (actually a right-pointing one) refreshes the page and repositions it to the top?  so my lazy ass doesn't even have to move my mouse to get s'more page 1 freshness.

or maybe add a refresh button to the final posts of a page?  it might just be easier to make such a button force the browser load the first page again instead of trying an actual refresh.

just throwing that out there

Name: DamageInc !euFrYW8TXE 2007-08-27 19:17 ID:LUK71CXe

If you're talking about deleting a thread you've created then is that really something you're going to be doing frequently? The mod/janitor version has a button next to each post to quickly do this but it seems a bit overkill for the public version.

sounds like a reasonable idea, I don't see why not.

Name: Anonymous 2007-08-28 0:44 ID:Iw9ZmJ5Q

I have three sons, ages 16, 15, and 12. I was also in an abusive marriage for ten years in which my 15 year old was a frequent target of my x husband. These boys had a rough time of it, as did we all.

After I left my husband my children acted out for a short time, we all spoke of feeling relief and feeling safe yet there were still some rough spots as I got the hang of trying to do it alone.

Several years ago my accountability program found that the computer had been accessing pornography. Turns out it was my middle son. To date he has been 'caught' accessing pornography many times since then. He was 13 I think when this started.

I banned him from the computer, but after a few months I would allow him to be on it for short periods of time. Each and every single time my son would access pornography within days (and sometimes hours) of being allowed back online. He was aware that he would be caught because the computers are monitored but he chose to do it anyway.

Most recently my youngest son allowed my middle son to play with his PSP. Brandon (the middle child) used it to immediately access pornography online. The child is now banned from computers, video games and so forth. I've talked until I'm blue in the face, I've grown angry and yelled, I've cried when I was alone and when I was in front of him. I've had him read Dworkin, my site, and other places (namely OAG's site) and I still can't unseat this problem. He can recite feminist literature all day long, he can understand the tenets, the ideas behind it, how it links together but he will not allow this knowledge to stand in the way of his porn use.

I don't think I'm looking for advice (I've tried everything I could think of so far) but more a place to simply be sad. I can clearly see why he's looking at pornography, I've figured all that out readily enough, but I can't seem to make it stop.

I know, that as soon as my child leaves my home and moves into his own place that he will be looking at porn immediately. I know that I am raising a problem for women. I know that this child will one day grow and will fully absorb the messages that porn sends to men. I know that my child masturbates to degradation of my people (when I use that phrase I mean womyn) and that with every orgasm he will further solidify his own hatred of and superiority over, women.

I know that there will likely come a day where my son coerces a young woman into sex (rape) and there isn't a damned thing I can do about it. I look into the eyes of my son and they still sparkle like they did when he was a baby, but he's not a baby anymore, he's growing into a man and that man will have trained himself to degrade women before he leaves my home.

As a radical feminist who puts women first I cannot begin to determine what I should do with regards to this issue. My heart breaks because there is nothing I can do to protect the womyn he will come into contact with.

I have three boys. One of them is lost to me and as a mother and a radical womyn this breaks my heart in a way I can scarcely express. I don't know if it says something terrible about me, but you know what haunts me late at night? More than anything else? I know, in my heart of hearts that, knowing what I know now, if I had it to do over again I would have had that abortion.

I also find myself blaming myself over and over again, even though that radical womyn inside of me stands up and yells that I'm placing blame in the wrong place. I'm not sure what I intended to say with this message. I began writing it this morning and put it away again and finally decided to finish it this evening. I think that maybe I just wanted to share, I keep trying with Brandon and I keep failing. He simply doesn't care. When he wants to jerk off, everything goes right out the window.

As for the thread-watcher on every board. its on the way. I'm (still) slowly re-writing the extension to make it suck less and be easier to manage. There's still a few features to re-implement but I'm making some progress at least. It's also mostly working on seamonkey 1.1. I'll be trying to get what's implemented to a usable state and get a beta out or something.

The new thread watcher still has a long way to go, but its getting there:

One thing I really need sometimes is 'Expand All Images' so I don't have to click each other individually.

Name: Anonymous 2007-10-03 16:14

I can't be bothered to check through all 700 posts, but am I the only one who gets 404's when you click on the >>links that lead to the OP(after I expand the thread)? This bugs the hell out of me since when I go back the whole thread is un-expanded and sometimes it takes forever to reload it.

He's working on the beta now, so I don't think this bug will be fixed for stable version.  Anybody know what are the steps to fix this manually?

Name: Anonymous 2007-10-25 21:05

I have an idea for the thread watcher - It should alert you when a thread gets close to being deleted. Say when a thread is on page 8 or farther, the thread watcher would give some kind of indication, so you could go to the thread b4 it disappeared.

Name: Anonymous 2007-10-27 13:03

I think you mean the other way around; automatically hide if you sage.

posting in a really long thread

great work on the extension damageinc, it puts a smile on my face and a fap in my hands.

Name: Anonymous 2007-10-29 19:48

I was thinking, is it possible to add this functionality to the extension? To add a new button at the bottom of a thread, which automatically sends an archival request to 4chanarchive, with the correct thread number and board you're looking at.

Name: Anonymous 2007-10-30 22:15

I still use internet explorer 6 and I dont have trouble with it... does that make me a newfag or whatever?

Name: Anonymous 2007-11-03 19:17

It's probably been mentioned, but a function that could let you open every image in the thread at once would be the most amazing thing ever.

Name: Dick Sneeze 2007-11-13 18:49

Do you think there would be a way of making the upload of a picture  from a website easier?

Maybe where you can upload directly from the URL rather than save it to your computer and then browse for it?

Name: Anonymous 2007-11-14 8:45

Add Copypasta Detector

It should work automatically for any post longer than some preset size, or maybe triggered by a button.

It would pick X random sentences (with more than Y words each) from the post and query google. If more than Z% of sentences are found mark the post as "The Delicious Copypasta" and present user with options: flag or color it uniquely, hide, do nothing, etc...

Values of X,Y,Z should be determined by heuristics. Also some other indicators could be considered.

Whadda u think?

Name: Anonymous 2007-11-14 19:12

Don't you think that might slow down the extension too much? Resulting in slow 4chan speed, for you?

Name: Anonymous 2007-11-15 1:34

Just a heads up, the beta version of the extension breaks the RC3 of the Firefox 3 Beta 1's menubar on OS X Leopard.

Old version doesn't have that problem.

Name: Anonymous 2007-11-15 6:15

>>744

Yes, if it works in auto mode. But it doesn't need. If extension provides a button near each post, then user might check only posts that he suspects (which some users do anyway when checking for copypasta).

Name: Anonymous 2007-11-17 15:31

A very useful feature would be hiding for individual posts, in addition to the thread-hiding feature. This would be great for large, annoying, or troll posts in otherwise good threads.

Name: Anonymous 2007-11-18 14:27

Also redundancy detector (and optional collapsing of copies). Like the ones in >>720 and >>728

Name: Anonymous 2007-11-19 20:54

I second the redudancy detector.

I also propose that there be a search feature.  Where you can search for the word "noob", for instance, and you get all threads or posts (whichever you choose) from a specific board. (not sure if this is at all possible... seems like it could be cool though)

Name: Anonymous 2007-11-21 3:12

The extension no longer works with Firefox 3 Beta 1 due to some 'secure update' bullshit. anybody happen to know of a way around this?

Name: Anonymous 2007-11-21 4:14

Yes, it's quite simple if you follow these steps:

1. Download .xpi extension file and rename it to .zip
2. Extract the install.rdf file
3. Open it in notepad and remove the entire line that begins with <em:updateURL>
4. Put it back in the zip and rename to .xpi
5. Open in Firefox
6. Start fapping

PS! MY SUGGESTION FOR IMPROVING THE EXTENSION:
Only hide threads from the board main pages and not on their individual pages!

But, is there any way to make it work with a proxy?

Either that or could i see the source code to configure it myself?

Name: Anonymous 2007-11-26 21:09

I have another feature idea:

I really like the way 4chan handles 404s, how about an option that allows for a 404 anywhere on the Internet to look like 4chan's 404 page? (with random Yotsuba please)

Name: Anonymous 2007-11-26 21:35

explain whacthed threads for me.

Name: Anonymous 2007-11-27 10:27

Here's a feature for you: Archive this thread (locally).

The extension would provide a button (toggle or a checkbox) for users to select a thread for archiving. Then the extension would download the thread html (css, etc...) and images and store them in a folder of user preference. Then, the extension would recheck the thread every minute or so (configurable) and update the thread file and add new images. This would be done in the background (or in separate tab). The process would go on until 404 or manual stop.

Do you like it?? yes?

Name: Anonymous 2007-11-27 14:25

A good useless feature would be a post counter for the number of posts each board had at the end of the day/week/month. Useless statistics are always fun.

Loading hi res images all at once = no no

There's a URL for all images currently on 4chan... I forget what it is though.  But you can just use downthemall or linky

Name: Anonymous 2007-11-29 16:01

Noticed something, not sure how long it's been going on, because I thought it was an intended feature...when I go to the 4chan menu, and click on a board, it opens up in a new tab, but only for the a-y boards, /RS/, /IC/, /I/ etc work as expected (open in the same window) Ideas?

Name: Anonymous 2007-11-29 16:34

>>764
Is DownThemAll better than that fucking Google Accelerator abomination? It doesn't speed up things, it slows them down and transfers everything to Google's proxy, breaking precious links and images.

Name: Anonymous 2007-11-30 12:31

>>765
For me /ic/ and /i/ work the same, but /rs/ opens as if the Frames option is unticked. You will notice if you untick this that all boards behave the way you described.

Name: Anonymous 2007-11-30 13:43

A suggestion? Make it so that 4chan doesn't need the extension.
7chan has an Expand All Pictures option so I'm guessing this extension is just viral marketing.

Name: Anonymous 2007-11-30 14:30

>>769
7chan also doesn't get any traffic, so it can afford an Expand All Pictures option.

Name: Anonymous 2007-12-01 20:27

Is there anyway to get the default behaviour of 4chan back with the extension installed? Middle clicking a quote number or a side post number would open up a new page and jump to the post with it highlighted. It doesn't necessarily do this any longer. Any workarounds or what setting affects this? I keep uninstalling the extension no matter how much I like the features because of this.

Name: Anonymous 2007-12-02 13:48

the whacthed  threads should be able to whacthe multiple threads instead of view one by one by category

example, have a thread in request and gif and see them both on the list. instead of having to be in that sec to see it.

Name: Anonymous 2007-12-04 18:16

I'd like few buttons:

* Desu button: click on a button prompts an input field in which I write number of Desu repetitions. After confirmations, the post/reply is submitted.
* Multitude of configurable meme buttons (for auto posting): "Tits or GTFO", "Do it fagot" etc.
* COntextual buttons: upon viewing a thread, extension would offer choices based on simple text analysis, for example: if the post contains "What should I do?" near the end. User should be presented with a choice of standard (or user configured) replies.
* "Division by zero" button. pressing this button automatically posts: "Gaiz, how do I divide by zero?" or "I divided by zero, O SHI-" or similar.

Ok, what do you think?

Name: Anonymous 2007-12-05 8:23

>>775
Desu button: Mods will simply delete "desu" posts.
Meme button: Hooray. More /b/ action that everyone knows about already.
Contextual button: Nice idea, but if you can't just type a response, why are you on the internet?
Divide by zero button: How is this different from the meme button?

Name: Anonymous 2007-12-24 19:41

guize, how about this feature:

It should detect Youtube links in posts, then in the background it loads html of that link, extracts title and displays it next to the link.

so, instead of this:

"OMG, Hueg pileup, over 300 cars!!!11 http://youtube.com/watch?v=XYZXYZXYZ"

the post should read:
"OMG, Hueg pileup, over 300 cars!!!11 http://youtube.com/watch?v=XYZXYZXYZ (RickRoll'D)"

You get the point?

A minor bug: if you try to expand images that are pdfs (as found on the /po/ board), you get a broken image; not sure what the "proper" behavior should be, though.

Name: Anonymous 2008-01-30 20:31

Thread watching should download the thread to cache every set interval of seconds/minutes and if a 404 is encountered, the thread should be marked as dead in the status line but the last good cache version should be saved and accessible. I had the problem expanding images. So updated, but it didn't work. Used Mule's fix, somewhat works but I get no boards in the context menus. So I'm forced to go to options in the add-on and attempt to hit 'reload', sometimes that works, sometimes it doesn't. Most of the time I get this pop up error in firefox when I hit 'apply'

TypeError: layoutdocument has no properties

But when I do get the boards back, and close firefox and open it back up again, the boards disappears.

The extension is down because the server the board data is hosted on is being moved to another physical location. It should eventually load (after about a minute) the locally cached data and things should work.

Name: Anonymous 2008-02-09 12:54

>>945

936 here, It's exactly like what 938 said.

I'm not even sure how to reproduce it because now I see the boards almost instantly and going to 'options' and hitting 'apply', seems to work normally now.

Yesterday, I noticed I only get
'TypeError: layoutdocument has no properties' if the boards aren't loaded, and when I go to options>menu and hitting apply would result in a pop-up of that error.

But now it seems fine, since I now see a list of the boards in 'options>menu'.

My fix works. It's too simple not to. What they're talking about is an unrelated issue involving DamageInc's servers.

To fix it yourself:
1) Download the current official version.
2) Unzip 4chan.v0.4.5.6.xpi (xpi=zip).
3) Go to the chrome directory, and unzip 4chan.jar (jar=zip).
4) Open chrome/content/4chan/4chanLib.js in a simple text editor, and after line 3018 (Ctrl-G in notepad I think), add the following line of code.

FullImageUrl = FullImageUrl.replace( /cb-ws\//, "" );

Notice that it is nearly identical to the preceding one, and that it matches part of the url where thumbnails are now stored. What it does is convert thumbnail urls for the work safe boards to urls for the full image.
5) Update 4chan.jar with the new 4chanLib.js. One way to do this is with the following command
zip -f 4chan.jar
6) Create a new xpi file for your fixed extension. This is just a zip file with extension .xpi containing the following:
- install.rdf
- components/
- chrome/4chan.jar
You can create it with something like:
zip -r 4chan.v0.4.5.6.MYSUPERSPECIALVERSION.xpi install.rdf components/ chrome/4chan.jar
7) In Firefox, File->Open File
and open 4chan.v0.4.5.6.MYSUPERSPECIALVERSION.xpi.
8) Install the extension as normal.
9) ???
10) Profit.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled firefox and the extension a couple times now with no luck. I've cleared my registry of firefox and all remnant firefox files off the computer only to reinstall to no avail.

ive got an idea for the extension, lets say someone posts a link to a video on youtube, we should be able to click on it instead of copying and pasting, is that possible for this extension?
it could be an optional selection

Name: Anonymous 2008-02-10 8:38

For me, before a certain update, left-click defaulted to opening up boards from the 4chan dropdown menu in a new tab.

I updated to 0.4.5.7, and it still isn't fixing the bug that won't let boards open up from the 4chan dropdown menu in a new tab with a left click.

I've tried it with "Switch mouse behaviour" in the "Menu" tab both checked and unchecked, and neither works.

When it's unchecked, the right mouse button opens boards up in a new tab.  It never makes it so the left click opens boards in a new tab.

Please fix the extension so we have the option to have left-clicks open up boards in new tabs again.

Thanks.

Name: Anonymous 2008-02-11 8:30

Quick fix for the image expander issue:

Search for the file 4chan.jar
When you find it (it should be in a firefox-related folder), unzip it. You can do this by either changing its extension to .zip or just not being a newb and open it with WinZIP/WINRAR directly. After unzipping, go to ./content/4chan/ and edit the file 4chanLib.js. On line 3017 (around 90% down), change src.cgi to src/cb-nws so the whole line says:

FullImageUrl = AdImageUrl.replace( "src/cb-nws", "src" );

Save the file, create a new zip archive with the two folders where one of them contains the edited file, and replace the .jar archive with the new and updated one. Restart firefox.

If it works, congratulations.

Image expanding is broken? are you sure that you have the latest version? http://4chan.wrathfilledhate.net/menu/4chan.v0.4.5.7.xpi

It should be working fine. What board(s) is it broken on?

>>972
could you be more specific? is it still broken? the site might have gone down for a short time or something.

>>974
never tried on a mac, I've only briefly tested it on beta 2 in linux and it didn't crash. No idea whats going wrong at the moment I'm afraid.

using v0.4.5.7 with Firefox v2.0.0.12

Intermittent issues expanding threads, and expanding images (without opening a new tab/window). I can click reply to the thread and see the full thread, and click the image link and see the full image in a new tab, but that's kinda why I got the extension :P

No "error codes" to post unfortunately.

Trying out FireFox BETA 4, having problems with the extension, here is the message I get when open up FireFox 4:

"TypeError: Components.classes['@4chan.wrathfilledhate.net/menu/manager-object;1'] is undefined"

and when I try to save features on the add on, it gives this message:

"TypeError: chan_managerobject is null"

Just passing this along.

Neejha's right, seems that Firefox version 10.01 is incompatible with the current version of the 4chan app.

I'd been using the old extension with Firefox 11.0b2 with no problems (other than having to disable compatibility checking.) Trying to selection options gives some variation on the "chan_managerobject is null" error, however.

And why does 4chan claim "4chan Chrome and Firefox extensions updated. Firefox extension is now compatible with Firefox 10+" when it clearly isn't?  The extension installs but still doesn't work.  "TypeError: chan_managerobject.Boards is null" popup, can't hide boards, and clicking different boards from the menu just sends you to the main page.
