Is there an ebuild for that extension?

I'm getting the same tooltip thing as >>377 and >>379 after installing 0.4.4.1.  I'm running FF 1.5.0.7 with the following extensions installed:

I'm still having issues with the newest version (0.4.4.1) of the extension.  unless the post hiding function is disabled, sometimes the context menu is screwed up, images will not save from the context menu, or any other for that matter, sometimes the 4chan menu bar item has no data.  While attempting to turn off the post hiding functionality, the error "Error: LayoutDocument has no properties." pops up twice.

Not fixed yet. Also, the 4leaves icons in the menu are slightly off (text overlaps them).

:(

Maybe I should "fix" it by removing post hiding :V

Name: Anonymous 2006-10-04 5:31

>>406
I don't use it so I wouldn't miss it.
But are you sure the bug comes from there ? The thread / post structure is silly (from the html pov), but is there any reason the menu could be modified by this ? It's just hiding a set of posts with display:none and adding a new one, I guess.

Name: DamageInc !euFrYW8TXE 2006-10-04 7:17

>>407
I know, it makes no sense that hiding the posts causes the context menu to break, but everyone who was getting the context menu problem and disabled the thread hiding feature seemed to fix it by doing so. Though only a couple of people have said that this is the case. It makes no sense, which is why it is not yet fixed.

The post structure has to be like that or I would have to hide each post in the thread separately. But I don't think it's the changing of the page structure that’s causing the problem, since thats been in there for a few versions now and hasn't really changed, and gets done even if post hiding is disabled, to ensure that things are consistent.

>>402 here again.  Now I'm getting a tooltip everytime I pause with the mouse that says "The list of pages you're monitoring for changes. [alt-l]".  Earlier today I was getting one that said "Hide Thread".  It didn't matter what site I was at, but it wouldn't start happening until after I went to 4chan.  It goes away when I close and reopen FF, but if I visit 4chan, it'll start up again.  The tooltip even pops up on about:config, but a tab without anything in it won't give me a tooltip.  I'm getting no errors with the context menu and I have post hiding turned on.

it fucked up all of my other extentions and it wont let me save any pics

>>406
I however, do use it. I tend to get sick of seeing the stickies the mods leave up for weeks.

post expand not working unless frames are enabled.
firefox 2.0 rc2 + 4chan extension 0.4.4.1

Name: Anonymous 2006-10-08 13:28

Instead of hacking Firefox to be less of a pain to use, someone should just write a standalone application to browse and archive *chan content.

Name: DamageInc !euFrYW8TXE 2006-10-08 18:27

Right, I've finaly fixed it. I found a way to reproduce it and eventualy found out what was causing the problem, I did declare a variable before using it :o Any real language would complain, but not firefox, it is content to just subtly break the context menu!

http://4chan.wrathfilledhate.net/menu/4chan.v0.4.4.3.xpi
or just do an auto update.

If someone could confirm (or otherwise :( )that it has been fixed, that would be great.

>>412
Do you have IE tab installed? that causes problems apparently.

>>413
write it :)

Name: Anonymous 2006-10-09 13:16

It would be nice if we could add a description or a tag for the thread watcher since most threads dont have a topic.

Name: Anonymous 2006-10-09 16:04

i just installed firefox 2.0 rc2. using a context menu link now opens the board in a new tab.
everything else seems to be a-ok, congrats on 4.4.3

A menu item that takes you to the extension options would be nice, since having to open the Extensions window and clicking there is a bit bothersome to do repeatedly.

>>415
You kind of can, in the global thread watcher (from the TW link in the top right), but not on the inline one. It was something I planned to add, but never got around to it.

>>416
I had noticed that, they must have changed how some things work, I'll wait until 2.0 is released and fix it then.

>>418
Ok then.

Name: Anonymous 2006-10-09 20:39

Firefox 2.0

"Spell check this field" is checkmarked on the right click menu on the inline quick reply but for some reason it's unchecked on the regular quick reply.

Name: Anonymous 2006-10-10 1:39

>>414
Ok, so I tried this. (I'm on of the usual context menu problem guys)
I'm having fun browsing 4chan, then I notice, no fucking problems.
So thank you very much.

Name: Anonymous 2006-10-10 4:34

I did declare a variable before using it :o
Care to explain why declaring a variable is wrong ? I don't get it. (or was it supposed to be "didn't" ?)
You kind of can, in the global thread watcher (from the TW link in the top right)
Never noticed that :o

>>417
If you want to troll, at least do it good : your URL points to nowhere and you look idiot.

Name: DamageInc !euFrYW8TXE 2006-10-10 5:05

>>422
oh, yes, it was supposed to be "didn't". Declaring variables is good.

Name: Anonymous 2006-10-12 0:00

Leak Monitor is going apeshit everytime I close a tab.  It's finding 3-4 objects from the 4chan extension every time I close something, regardless of whether it's on a 4chan page or not.

here's a little of the crap it's spewing:

more specifically this seems to be isolated to closing a window containing 1 or more 4chan tabs while still having another window open.

Name: DamageInc !euFrYW8TXE 2006-10-12 5:36

I didn't know there was such an extension. I'll try and clean thouse up.

Name: Anonymous 2006-10-14 19:33

Suggestion:
When we quote/reply to a thread it would update that thread like when we expand it, and only load the new images of the thread.

This and a reload button in each thread that do the same I think would reduce 4chan traffic a little (supposing everyone used the extension), and it would provide faster browsing. Right now it is really slow reloading a large thread. Further I would like to suggest too RSS...

I would like to suggest too, when some of this stuff of the extension are really ok, that you start embedding these functionalities in the pages, after all they are already in javascript...

and only load the new images of the thread.
Browser cache does that

I don't think it's possible to load part of a page. Even if DamageInc was to implement something that looked like it, he'd still have to read everything before the relevant posts. It wouldn't decrease traffic

>When we quote/reply to a thread it would update that thread like when we expand it
perhaps, it should be possible to just reload the thread and rebuild the html structure.

>I would like to suggest too, when some of this stuff of the extension are really ok, that you start embedding these functionalities in the pages, after all they are already in javascript...
I don't have anything to do with writing the code for 4chan, that's coda's job. Also forceing people to use these features would be a bad idea..

>the rest
>>433 is correct

Name: Anonymous 2006-10-21 3:06

LOL, so I'm using the extension, works fine for all boards but /tv/. Apparently doesn't show the 4chan logos by the title or the Watched Threads box.

Name: Anonymous 2006-10-28 14:44

With Firefox 2.0 and selecting a board, it opens a new tab. Is there a way to have the selected board show up in the tab which you are already in?

Name: Anonymous 2006-10-28 15:25

>>433
It's very much possible if you know what you have already read and that none of the previous data changes.  Just send a special HTTP query for a byte range in the document.

Name: Anonymous 2006-10-28 19:51

Is it just me or does this extension sometimes affect the context menu?  Sometimes the the copy/paste options doesn't show up.

Name: Anonymous 2006-10-28 20:34

That happens regardless.  It's a feature, not a bug.
