Thank god for John Bolton!

He deserves a round of applause, people! Thumbed his nose at the U.N., and adamantly defended our constitutional right to keep and bear arms!

Hmm, I wonder what might have happened if Gun Grabber Gore or Kerry got to pick the U.N. ambassador?

Abortion - Abortion is only allowed past 4 months of pregnancy.

Free Speech - No restrictions.

National ID card - Citizens should be free to get ID cards if they want.

More Immigration/Border Control -  Border control should be absolute. Immigration should be severely restrictied with countries that do not share our values and should be completely free with countries that share our values. Immigration will be completely banned when the first signs of over-population occur.

Gun Rights/Self Defense Rights - No restrictions. The police budget will increase to further cover crime-prevention and create services that people can be free to use to help deter crime.

Pornography Legalization - Pornography without conscious uncoerced consent is illegal. Beyond this, no restrictions.

Prostitution Legalization (in a controlled setting to restrict transmission of STDs) - Prostitution without conscious uncoerced consent is illegal. Passing an STD is considerred grievous bodily damage and punishable under the law. Prostitutes will have to react to this.

Patriot Act - Patriot act will be repealed.

Privacy Rights - A person is responsible for his/her privacy, if this is impeded by force then the perpetrator can be charged with a crime. People charged with a crime can choose whether the police may search their property, they will be reminded that their decision may be used against them in a court of law.

NSA Domestic Spying - Domestic spying will be open and reviewable by the public. The absolute border control and militarisation will make the need not to reveal possible terror cells etc.. unecessary.

Seat Belt Laws - People should be free to wear seat belts or not. Parents who's children die due to not wearing seat belts may be prosecuted for criminal neglect. The automotive industry must by law to reveal to the public the safety of their vehicles.

Drug Legalization (other than alcohol & cigarettes) - All drugs will be legalized. Drugs will be considerred poisons and chemical weapons by the police. Users will be hospitalised and have to pay for their treatment when they are rehabilitated unless they can prove they were forced to take drugs. Anyone who forces others to take drugs will be considerred a felon.

Generally speaking, more laws - The first priority is the preservation of justice and liberty as they are co-dependant. Where the 1st priority does not apply, the less laws the better.

Tax-Funded Programs:

Social Security - Only for those below the age of 16. There will be small information based programs aimed at getting people under the age of 21 into work. The police will also provide social-security like programs aimed at helping the victims of crime and educating the public about the situation in their local area.

Welfare - Only for those below the age of 16. Minimum wages laws will be decided through the democratic process (as with everything else, but I disagree with minimum wage laws on principle and know they are necessary to a certain degree even though they corrupt the economy so my views on minimum wage are more malleable).

War in Iraq - When we have fulfilled our pledge to turn Iraq into a democracy we will leave.

Tax Money for U.N. Funding - It will be considerred part of the military budget aimed at preventing war and mercantilism across the globe. If the UN does not perform this task the funding will be decreased.

Corporate Welfare - The economy will be completely free-market based. Coorporate welfare will be considerred misappropriation and the perpetrators will face a prison sentence and have to pay back the money they lost.

General Spending, taxation, and Government Programs - The first priority is the preservation of justice and liberty etc..

Abortion - Pro choice. It's not my fucking body, it's theirs.

Free Speech - For.

National ID card - Against. (Y HELO THAR ORWELLIAN SOCIETY)

More Immigration/Border Control -  For, for now.

Gun Rights/Self Defense Rights - For.

Pornography Legalization - For.

Prostitution Legalization (in a controlled setting to restrict transmission of STDs) - For, and tax the shit out of it.

Patriot Act - Against.

Privacy Rights - For.

NSA Domestic Spying - Against in principle, but what they're doing now isn't spying. It's just shitty information collecting.

Seat Belt Laws - For.

Drug Legalization (other than alcohol & cigarettes) - For, and tax the ever loving shit out of them.

Generally speaking, more laws - Dunno, this is ambiguous.

Tax-Funded Programs:

Social Security - For, but for the love of god, reform it.

Welfare - Against.

War in Iraq - For.

Tax Money for U.N. Funding - Against.

Corporate Welfare - For, to an extent.

General Spending, taxation, and Government Programs - MUCH MUCH MUCH less.

a firearm is not required for self-defence.

i support the right to self-defence insofar as it's a valid legal excuse to prosecute justice effectively.  i do NOT support self-defence in that 'oh, we'll i can buy glocks from my local fucking k-mart so if that negro chap comes for my telly it's BLAMMO-TIME'.  that doesn't preserve society, it erodes it.

framing the idea of self-defence solely in terms of guns is symtomatic of a gun culture, and it's disgusting.

Name: Anonymous 2006-07-16 8:33

>>27
Makes sense? Self defense without gun is very dangerous, especially if the opponent is armed and in 90% cases your average thug has atleast knife. We live in modern age and we have effective tools so why not use them? I don't support death penalty(infact I support lesser penalties), but I support CITIZEN'S(not goverment) right to use deadly force when defending themselves, their family or their property. Death penalty is bad, but citizens shooting criminals in self defense is good thing and it has been proved to reduce crime. It's modern natural selection and I see nothing wrong with it. Violent criminal or robber has chosen his path and that means he should be ready to get shot too. It's true they choose that path typically out of desperation, but no-one forces them.

Name: Anonymous 2006-07-16 14:45

>>24
So someone is about to start killing everyone in a cafe and you don't have a gun. What do you do?

Name: Anonymous 2006-07-16 15:55

Gun control issue:

It has been shown that the higher incidence of suicide and accidental death in homes with fire arms is more than double the incidences where the guns are used for self defence. Hard to argue that they should be used for self defence when they're more likely to blow your kids head off than blow off an intruder's head. So you argue that you're safer with your guns than the average. Fine, how do you suggest preventing the idiots? pass a test to bear arms? you'll find some formidable opposition to that one. anyway, some 20ish percent of children whose parents thought their kids didn't know they had a gun, knew, and had taken it out. Hard to hide things from kids.

Death penalty:

The death penalty has not been shown to reduce the incidence of 1st degree murder in the states that use it. In fact, the murder rates are higher on average in those states. The whole arguement for the death penalty is that it sends a stronger message to would be murderers than lesser punishment. This has not been shown to be the case, therefore the arguement collapses.

You fucking dipshits.  If your kid is that mystified by guns, and is dumb enough to stare down the barrel and pull the trigger, well fuck you.  Don't ban MY guns because you don't know how to fucking parent your dumbass kids.

People complain that the 'right wing' is always trying to ban pornography, and put fines on television shows for saying stuff like 'fuck' on the air because stupid parents don't know how to parent their kids.

Well oh really? How about stupid 'left wingers' who don't know how to teach their kids about firearms, and how to NOT kill themselves when they use them?

It's pretty fucking easy people.  Just don't point it at anything you don't want to kill.  If you are dumb enough to shoot yourself with a gun by accident, well fuck you, society doesn't need people that are that stupid in it.

Guns are here, get used to it. No law will make them go away. Get used to it. If someone comes at me with any weapon, I want to LEGALLY be able to defend myself, regardless of whether the attacker is a pro-ana girl, or a pro-wrestler. I shouldn't have to worry about your kids. You don't neglect to tell them not to be in front of a moving car do you? Likewise, you should be able to tell them which side of a loaded firearm they don't want to be on. If necessary, shoot a watermelon while they watch. That should get the point across.

"Tax Money for U.N. Funding - For, or against?

What?"

The U.S. gives tax dollars to the U.N. for funding.

"Corporate Welfare - For, or against?

What's that?"

Welfare for corporations.  Government handouts for businesses.  The definition seems to vary from person to person, but generally, I view it as the transfer of tax money from the government to any private enterprise, business, corporation, whatever, for whatever reason.

Ex.  the government subsidizes various industries which can't support themselves in the market.

Name: Anonymous 2006-07-23 16:27

Abortion: Pro-choice (pro-lifers get what they want too when it's pro-choice)
Free Speech: For; agree with current legal trend that media doesn't necessarily equal speech
National ID Card: Already got it, called Social Securtiy card.  Against it unless you're in immigrant, felon, or federal employee
Border Control: Nah.  I'd like to be able to leave the country when it goes psycho
Guns: Against handguns except for police, for rifles and other non-concealable weapons for property protection
Porn: For.
Prostitution: Only if female is sterile, over 18, and has no kids under 18.  Required to test for STDs once every 3 months.  Those who have lethal STDs should have RFID chips implanted.
Patriot Act: Yeah, if it's temporary
Privacy: For, unless you are an immigrant, felon, or federal employee.
NSA Spying: Fine, if it's temporary
Seat Belt Laws: All laws that govern an individuals' actions upon himself are silly and need to be deleted.  However, I think a driver should be able to be held liable for failing to insure others are wearing a seat belt.
Drug Legalization: Legal to grow and make for personal use, commercial distribution illegal
More laws: It is a great mistake of our political process that we have *legislators* who people have come to think must lead us or be our leaders in any capacity.  A legislator's job is not really to lead, or even to do stuff, but only to write laws.  Separation of executive, legislative, and judicial sections of government was the smartest fucking thing in the world.  THAT, if nothing else, makes me proud to be an American.  There needs to be greater separation and public understanding of legislative and executive responsibility.  Legislators should get paid less for the more days they stay on the job.

Name: Anonymous 2006-07-23 16:35

Social Security: Against.  Worst government program ever.

Welfare: We need a new system whereby people who cannot sustain themselves are delivered into a controlled environment that 1) takes away freedom but 2) gives basic sustenance and support unless 3) they decide to get their act together and become productive.  Something like jail, but not in a building but rather a housing-project like setting.  If you break the rules of the community, you're on lockdown and get stuff (like TV) taken away.  If you decide to go to school and become productive, you get to leave.  Such an environment is run almost like a police state, every action watched, cameras everywhere,m etc. but only for that community.  Want out?  You're free to leave, go to school, keep your kids quiet, get a job and keep it.

War In Iraq: We could have done a better job of inventing an excuse to go there.  But I think we needed to.
Tax Money for UN Funding: Only give as much as everyone else is giving.
Corporate Welfare: Interferes with free enterprise.  Bad.
Less Government Spending
Less Taxes
Less Programs

The problem is that you are all americans and you fetishize violence to the point of addiction.

Oh, and kids kill other kids on accident all the time. A parent can only do so much. Kids are fucking stupid, and you have to accept that. Also, even if you train YOUR kid to be smart, that doesn't stop the stupidass neighbor kid from coming over and using it. Keeping the gun unloaded and locked really defeats the purpose of "self-defense", doesn't it?

Also, criminals usually don't "choose" their lifestyle. Most are forced into it because of economic hardship or other reasons. Sure, many criminals put themselves into poverty and desperation because of their own stupidity, but you have to understand that criminals are still human beings that need to eat, they just don't give a fuck about YOUR TV when they're hungry.

>>47 "fetishize violence to the point of addiction." Don't generalize. Unless you can go into some detail or offer some stats you'll just damage the credibility of everyone whos hare that opinion. The second paragraph makes a little more sense, and even though it could use some stats I agree. I couldn't see myself owning a gun until my child was at least 14. While you also have a point in the third one that thing about hardships make them sound like victims. I dunno, but the problem is that for every individual there are endless small reasons that have influenced him/her, and then it becomes a bit difficult to decide what was a bad influence and what was a good one. If you ask me, free will is impossible, and everyone should be paying for the human-altering parts and factors of society that they have done nothing to improve.

Sorry, I don't give a damn about criminals; only victims.

Spoiler: violent movies and games are equally popular all over the globe. There would be an equal number of people in all Western countries willing to enlist in the military and beat up Iraq. Guns are still popular in countries with gun control as airsoft versions.

I am a liberal social nationalist, and non-amerikan.

Abortion - Pro choice, or pro life?

Pro life - i.e. allow abortions and minimize bad lives.

Free Speech - For, or against (restrictions)?

For, no restrictions what so ever.

National ID card - For, or against?

For, of course.

More Immigration/Border Control -  For, or against?

For of course.  I don't want people invading my country, I want them shot.

Gun Rights/Self Defense Rights - For, or against?

I wouldn't group them.  I'm against all kinds of weapons, self defense should be carried out by your hands.

Pornography Legalization - For, or against?

Can't see any reason at all to be against it.

Prostitution Legalization (in a controlled setting to restrict transmission of STDs) - For, or against?

Against the use of "legalization," it shouldn't be illegal in the first place.  No restrictions.

Patriot Act - For, or against?

Against, due to the name.

Privacy Rights - For, or against?

For.

NSA Domestic Spying - For, or against?

Against.

Seat Belt Laws - For, or against?

Against, it will only hurt stupid people.  I'd like it if all vehicles had seat belts thouigh.

Drug Legalization (other than alcohol & cigarettes) - For, or against?

Against, alcohol and cigarettes should be forbidden as well.

Generally speaking, more laws - For, or against?

More.  Not stupid laws.

"Abortion - Pro choice, or pro life?"

Pro-life.  Outlaw any abortions in which the fetus is conscious or can feel.  Remove any (if any) regulations on contraceptives to increase their availibility, and reduce the number of abortions overall.  No abortions without the consent of the man.  If it is partly his responsibility (child support laws), then it is also his right, just like the mothers.  This means abortion should require mutual consent, since the child is the child of both of the parents.  State funded abortions are a terrible abomination and violation of individual liberty.  Cut all funding for state-funded abortions, and cease the practice immediately.

"Free Speech"

Against restrictions on speech.

"National ID card - For, or against?"

Against.

"More Immigration/Border Control -  For, or against?"

No national ID.  Eliminate Guest worker programs.

"Gun Rights/Self Defense Rights - For, or against?"

For both.  The 2nd amendment guarantees an individual right.  Remove restrictions on lawful trade of firearms, including automatics, and ammunitions.  Keep restrictions on powerful explosives.  Firearms ownership should be encouraged.  Give a tax cut to people who carry concealed, if possible, as this helps lower the crime rate, and will reduce the need for police, and thus reduce the monetary burden on taxpayers.  This activity should be rewarded.

Also, a slightly related topic - the gun industry should not be held responsible for crimes committed by criminals.  Lawsuits centered around this should be thrown out.  The gun industry is a legitimate industry just like all the others, and isn't responsible for the actions of criminals.

"Pornography Legalization - For, or against?"

For, but keep child porn illegal.

"Prostitution Legalization (in a controlled setting to restrict transmission of STDs) - For, or against?"

For.  It is the person's body, they can do what they want, including sell it and its services if they want.

"Patriot Act - For, or against?"

Against.

"Privacy Rights - For, or against?"

For.

"NSA Domestic Spying - For, or against?"

Against.

"Seat Belt Laws - For, or against?"

Against.  Remove any victimless crimes on the books currently, seat belt laws being a good example.  Freedom includes the freedom to make stupid choices, as long as they don't directly hurt others.

"Drug Legalization (other than alcohol & cigarettes) - For, or against?"

For.  Your body, do with it as you want.  You even have the right to destroy it if you please, and to use whatever substances you want.  Remove any taxes on cigarettes, alcohol, and drugs.  Drug use is a private decision as long as you do so on your own property, and don't harm others.

"I'm going to add in one more here:  Equal Rights for homosexuals, and I support it."

I support equal rights for everyone, including homosexuals.  Remove restrictions keeping gays from adopting children or marrying.  This will give deserving children a home, and loving parents loving children.

"The Death Penalty"

Currently against, though the position is not final.  I see it as a clear violation of the 8th amendment of the constitution and bill of rights.

"Generally speaking, more laws - For, or against?"

Against.  Also repeal a lot of the worthless laws we have now.  There are too many laws in general.

Tax-Funded Programs:

"Social Security - For, or against?"

Against.  Your finances are your own business, just like what goes on in your bedroom.

"Welfare - For, or against?"

Against.  Your finances are your own business, just like what goes on in your bedroom.

"War in Iraq - For, or Against?"

For - but all the lucrative defense contracts need to stop.  No more no-bid contracts, and we need to filter out corruption to ensure a good government is put in in the place of the former Iraqi regime.  If this can't be done, I change to 'against'.

"Tax Money for U.N. Funding - For, or against?"

Against.  The U.N. funds all sorts of anti-2nd amendment groups,  and NGOs.  Until this stops, cut off all funding.  Also, the U.N. should not be able to directly tax citizens of the world, or impose global law or restrictions.  No world-government.  The government we have is too big already.

"Corporate Welfare - For, or against?"

Against.  Corporate welfare = corporate stealing.

"General Spending, taxation, and Government Programs - More, or less?"

Less.  Taxation is theft, but is a necessary evil for the preservation of an otherwise free country.  Reduce taxation as much as possible while having enough to sustain a free country and protect it.  Unnecessary programs should not exist.  Only those absolutely necessary to preserve freedom and prosperity should.

>>28 Makes sense? Self defense without gun is very dangerous, especially if the opponent is armed and in 90% cases your average thug has atleast knife. We live in modern age and we have effective tools so why not use them?

Self defense WITHOUT a gun is very dangerous? Try self defense with a gun. If he has a gun they are highly unlikely to shoot you, since that would be rather stupid, the gun or knife is just there so you will fork over your shit. If you pull a gun on them, they are most likely going to blow your fucking head off. Is not getting robbed, beat up, or even raped worth your life?

Everyone should have the right to try and defend themselves, and be armed.  These are two of the most basic human liberties.

Also, self-defense with a gun is only dangerous if he is a better shot.  Buy a gun, and practice with it :)

Of course, the democrats would like to ban recreational shooting (known as plinking).  In fact, they actually *have* banned recreational shooting in some areas.  How is one to practice with such people in government...

Vote libertarian.

Abortion
Pro-choice. Abortion should be legal in all cases, free and anonymous, within a reasonable period of time (over around 12-14 weeks). And without restriction at all if severe medical complications are feared.

Free Speech - For, or against (restrictions)?
No restrictions except for libel and possible regulations of public calls for violent acts.

National ID card - For, or against?
For. Not that it ever occurred to me before that the ban of ID cards was a political issue (a libertarian one, for sure).

More Immigration/Border Control -  For, or against?
Against. Illegal immigration doesn't magically disapear by putting more people in jail. Codevelopment is where the solution lies.

Gun Rights/Self Defense Rights - For, or against?
The ownership of weapons has to be regulated to some extent (you don't want your neighbour to conduct nuclear tests in his back garden, right?). Exactly what extent may be debatable, but I certainly see no reason why it should be a fundamental right to acquire devices whose very purpose is to kill people (which is a crime in most case). My take on it would be to ban all firearms by default, with possible permits granted in special cases (e.g. hunting guns perhaps) and subject to at least a few basic tests of psychological stability.

Pornography Legalization - For, or against?
For (banning porn simply doesn't work). Consenting models over 18, of course. And no restriction on drawings.

Prostitution Legalization (in a controlled setting to restrict transmission of STDs) - For, or against?
For (over 18 as well). But either ban proxenetism altogether, or subject companies employing sex workers to severe inspections.

Patriot Act - For, or against?
Against, totally.

Privacy Rights - For, or against?
For, totally.

NSA Domestic Spying - For, or against?
Against, totally.

Seat Belt Laws - For, or against?
For.

Drug Legalization (other than alcohol & cigarettes) - For, or against?
Consumption should never be penalized. It is probably a pragmatic measure to legalize the sale of soft drugs as well, and facilitate access to hard drug substitutes under medical supervision.

Generally speaking, more laws - For, or against?
More good laws, fewer bad ones.

Tax-Funded Programs:

Social Security - For, or against?
For.

Welfare - For, or against?
For.

War in Iraq - For, or Against?
Against.

Tax Money for U.N. Funding - For, or against?
For.

Corporate Welfare - For, or against?
Against.

General Spending, taxation, and Government Programs - More, or less?
More.

In order of which party you like MOST, to which party you like LEAST, list the political parties known to you.

Reform Party, Green Party, Dems, Reps, Libertarians.

Libertarians last, although I probably agree with them on more issues than I do with Reps, because they have an axiomatic approach to policy-making. They generally stick to their dogma even if their conclusions go against basic empirical evidence. I find that terribly irritating (and dangerous, would I say, if I actually believed they had a chance to be elected).
