GCSE results came out today, so I had to get up for the earliest I've been up in about 4 weeks to go get my results (ZOMG UNDER 18). Spent the night before having a meal with some friends and celebrating that we'd be getting the results soon. Wasn't particularly fun with either outing since my ex-girlfriend was there with her new boyfriend (we broke up about 3 weeks ago...) and it hurts seeing someone I still have feelings for acting so different from when she was with me. It doesn't help that she was my best friend beforehand and now I can barely speak to her without feeling terrible. It just feels like such a big part of my life is missing now, and seeing her reminds me of that.
Yeah, sort of went off on a tangent there. Got some great results (9 A's, 1 A*, a B and a D), so I'm pretty pleased. Just need to email them to my dad (we don't particularly get on, but he asked nicely) and phone up some woman to confirm my place in college. Fun fun fun.

Living in Australia is a double-edged sword for me. On the pro edge, the area I live in (Western Australia) is fairly isolated and doesn't have much happening. I'm a peaceful kind of guy, so I don't mind it much, even though it can get fairly boring at times.
On the con side, the isolation can really blow. I've been a gamer since I was four, and as I have grown older and gotten the internet, I've learned that Western Australia is very close to being the last place to get new releases in *everything*, not just gaming stuff. A friend and I went to Ghana over the summer. We were there for three weeks and searched long and hard for surf, but it wasn't to be. We did manage some fun surf, but not worth the trip for that alone. However, the people were great and it was a unique place to paddle out. As far as finding a surf shop, you better bring your own stuff. The local fishermen say that sharks aren't a concern. We spent some time in the Busua region and then worked our way back to Accra. We hit up some good surf in Fete, but west of where the more famous break is. I would have loved to see that point break with a little size. I feel so blind. As a 2nd year univ student, up until now I've always had my goals set in front of me. Now that I have some downtime before next semester, my mind is working too hard--I'm thinking too far into the future. The long string of long-term goals is really intimidating. I'm already thinking of my grad school and PhD options, which companies I want to work for, and where I want to relocate. This is the first year I'm doing taxes, I'm paying my own bills, all this is very annoying. Sometimes I wish I could just redo high school when I didn't have to study, work, or anything--just go home at 2 and goof off the rest of the day. Being an adult is so frustrating I can't think of any immediate goals I want to accomplish. I really want to find some sound concrete guidance but it won't change how I go about in life. All I'm doing right now is floating and waiting for the next urgent need. I really want to see her again so she'd tell me that I already know what to do and I just have to suck it up. But she's a few thousand miles away.
