What languages to "kinda" learn?

In your opinion, what would be a good spread of ~5 languages to have a smattering of knowledge in, and why?

A "smattering" meaning basic literacy and some simple conversational ability.

This is all just opinion, of course. We all lead different lives and have different reasons for learning.

Those are the five I'm going for, at least. Japanese for the culture, Latin for the awesomeness, Icelandic as I consider moving there, Ilaksh for the MIND=BLOWN, and Lojban just because.
