What languages to "kinda" learn?

In your opinion, what would be a good spread of ~5 languages to have a smattering of knowledge in, and why?

A "smattering" meaning basic literacy and some simple conversational ability.

This is all just opinion, of course. We all lead different lives and have different reasons for learning.

- English (If you already know this, pick other five)
- German
- Spanish
- French
- Japanese (You can hold it for the end)
- Latin (Just the basics, because it's a hard language)
- And, maybe Dutch
