Crimes committed with guns are increasing in the UK following their ban on gun ownership.

surrendering your freedoms to the state for the "common good" is the mantra of fascism. personally i perter not to trade liberty for security, not many people in the O.K. (Orwellian Kindom) seem to have that view, but if you want to repeat past mistakes be my guest.

The funny thing is that Gun nuts will always beat non gun nuts.

You know why? WE HAVE GUNS!

UK is going to shit, whether due to Muslims, Chav culture, boredom or fuck knows what else. I wouldn't call it a fair comparison at this point in time.

Australia, Europe, New Zealand and Japan all have very strict gun control laws, yet minuscule rates of violent crime compared to the USA. I doubt any of those nations are "sinking into fascism" any faster then the US currently is.

Gun control doesn't have to be perfect, once firearms become scarce enough, they are pulled out of reach of most dumb, spur of the moment common crooks and only retained by much more careful major organised crime groups. You can easily run or overpower some fool with a knife or club when you're full of fear, but you can't run from a gun.

You can't hope to protect yourself from a hostile government with guns. Every gun-nut seems to imagine going down in a blaze of glory, defending your property from evil gubment brown-shirts when it makes far more sense to covertly assassinate you while you're going about your daily life, out-gun you with paramilitary forces or simply blow up your base of operations with a cruise missile.

African and Middle Eastern nations have plenty of guns, however where the fuck is their "Liberty"?. If the masses are brainwashed into believing in their masters or outright apathy, no amount of shooting can change that. Guns can't change human nature.

Hence Guns != Liberty. Guns != Safety.

Wheret the fuck did you get that from?
Australia is like UK: increase of crimes after gun ban
Europe is par with US - some have slightly higher rates (e.g. Finnland) some have slighly lower rates (e.g. Germany)
Japan has a whole different culture than the US. If you call US fascist than those guys must have perfected it. It's a police state thru and thru.
Dunno about New Zealand but who the fuck cares about new New Zealand?

Wrong.  Many of the world's main powers have been defeated by ordinary people with guns.  Just look at Iraq, Vietnam, etc.

"I'm always amazed about how Americans claim that guns are necessary when in all the countries in which guns are heavily restricted have far lower crime rates."

Switzerland allows their citizens fully automatic weaponry, unlike the United States, and their crime rate is even lower than many countries with gun control.  Using your logic, maybe the United States, rather than instituting more gun control, should adopt a system more like Switzerland? Or maybe the difference in crime has more to do with cultural factors?

You're completely wrong here.

Switzerland has VERY STRICT gun control laws. You can't just carry a gun for self-defence unless you have a fucking good reason. All ammunition purchased must be registered to your name, and state-issued ammunition is stored in a sealed box that is periodically inspected.

Carrying around a gun with ammunition is strictly forbidden.

High levels of gun control yes, but very strict control laws.

Nobody in England really wants Americas gun problems, gun crime, or gun ownership in general. It would make things far worse here, you can keep your guns.

Wow, Russia is completely free of all crime!
I bet that's because they abandoned communism and embraced True Christian Capitalism©!
(special note for libertarians: that was sarcasm)
I wonder: How long did it take you to find something to reinforce your own world view?

Russia's crime rate is not entirely due to it's gun policies.

I doubt that many English people would disagree regarding the food ,roads and houses bit. There are some ugly slappers about too, but not all.

So the Swiss people are trustworthy enough to own a wide range of deadly firearms, while the British are not.  That doesn't say anything good about the nature and culture of the English, and it certainly says something good about the nature and culture of the Swiss.

true that. Much like how nobody fucks with the swiss people, the swiss have their government by the balls. Easiest uprising ever, yet, they haven't. So, where is your britfag superiority you called on?

This post is a real breath of fresh air.  I am so sick of haughty Britfags and U.N. lovers who think the USA is a bad country because we allow ordinary people the right to own guns.  IMO, the USA should make moves toward a more Swiss-like national security system wherein everyone gets a firearm that they keep with them at all times.  I'm a little hesitant to support mandatory military service, but maybe we could encourage widespread gun ownership through tax incentives for gun purchasing, provided the purchasers go to some sort of safety/target shooting/defense course? Just think - almost everyone would have guns on them.  Criminals would get shot, crime would go down, we'd all be a lot safer, there'd be fewer criminals, less need for prisons, and we'd all have some pretty bitchin guns too.  Cities are stupid with their gun control laws.  More criminals getting shot = lower crime rates.

I agree with much of what you say, but I don't like the idea of tax incentives, we should let the invisible hand of the free market handle economic matters.

Look how fantastic the Swiss system works though:
http://www.gunownersalliance.com/swiss-1.htm

The idea behind what I'm suggesting is that people 'earn' their tax incentive by providing a service to society in general - safety and protection.  They contribute to a secure America for all the same reasons people who own guns in Switzerland contribute to a secure Switzerland.  This model rewards those who fill this niche as we should.  We pay cops to get trained and such, why not offer general citizens a nice tax incentive to get trained and purchase a firearm to keep with them? It is kindof like making everyone a cop.

ban something and people either do it more or move.

gun owners should pay a license fee and a surchange for accidents, and more taxes on bullets.

ditto for drug dealers and manufacturers.

decriminalize crime and license them all.

Name: Anonymous 2007-09-17 17:53 ID:wPHCssAK

>>71
Why should I have to pay taxes on guns and bullets? Why should I have to pay a license fee? Because you hate guns and want to stop other people from owning them and protecting themselves?

Name: Anonymous 2007-09-17 17:54 ID:wPHCssAK

>>71
We should encourage gun ownership, not discourage it.  We should give financial tax incentives to individuals if they purchase firearms and attend firearms usage and safety classes.

gun ownership works one way, if you re-introduce guns into society you can't tell if you end up with a peaceful society or homes filled with people scared shitless because they think everyone has a gun.

you can argue about not taking guns away but not vice versa.

I own a gun to protect myself from those anti-gun nuts.
