I'm the guy who sent MrVacBob a message asking if he could unban CLIX. He said he'd done it, but we were still blocked.
I then learned from some guy on #4chan channel on mIRC that unbanning an ISP had to be done on the server code (I don't fuckin know what that means). Well, I mailed moot and sent a message to MrVacBob again, I don't know if it had anything to do with the unbanning but it's a fact that CLIX can post now.
Go ahead CLIX fags, waste your lives on /b/. At least I don't have to spend any more time thinking about getting a girlfriend. I have /b/ now.

Probably means that someone (most likely MrVacBob since he has SSH access to the machine) has to manually edit the script to remove the ban, instead of just logging in and going to the control panel and unbanning normally. I'm assuming that ISP wide bans are done by code, and individual IP bans are done normally. Why that is, I wouldn't know.

Well the erratic blocking/unblocking of ISPs means the mods are trying to actively block the spam while trying to let legit users through at the same time.
I suggest you just try to weather the storm, at least they're trying to restore access to people instead of blocking everything and calling it a day.
Never thought it'd happen - probably were some boxes which were used with the recent denial of service attack.
I wonder, is there any chance that the 4chan administration can give more information about what IP-addresses participated in the attack, and what range the ban is?
If not, it would at least be nice if they could pass on information to the ISP's themselves, in hopes that they will contact the people responsible.
At least here in Norway, most ISP's are very helpful when it comes to this sort of thing.

Well, yeah, the information regarding ISP blocks explicitly states that "A number of international ISPs are disallowed from posting".
There is nothing we can do, except talk with the mods....
For those who doesn't know how to do it:
How to use IRC (from what I gathered from a thread on /g/):
1. Google xchat-wdk for a decent IRC client.
2. Register nick for yourself. You'll need a valid email address.
3. Login to the Rizon server.
4. Join #4chan channel. (/join #4chan)
5. Wait for a mod. Mods are nicks with @ and % next to their names. Some mods also have a + next to their names as well, but not all. Tell the mod you have the error.
6. Give the mod your IP address, and they should "un-ban" you.
Google how to use IRC commands if not sure, etc.

I recently moved, so my ISP changes. I was Intercable (dat 10mbps) but now im forced cantv for now.
Why do they think they have to block the whole ISP for spambots? I manage websites as well and I know for sure there are better ways to handle this. All this proves is laziness and just carelessness. A good majority of Venezuela likes 4chan believe it or not. IP range ban the spambots, but do not ban the whole ISP.
