why does the latest beta 0.4.5.8 put my ip address in the email field by default?
it keeps putting:

in the email field even though i put sage as the default configuration.

Just throwing this out there because It's something I want, but would it be possible to add a counter thing with the number of posts/images in a thread?
I ask because I don't like posting in a thread just to see how many posts/images there are, nor do I like to count them. I don't expect this to be put in ever, it's just something I'd like to see.

Computer programs do not write themselves. You should be responsible for YOURSELF. This means that it is YOU that needs to find a programmer when you have a software requirement. They only cost $200 an hour where I come from. And yes, this is the true cost of computer programming. Either pay up, do it yourself or go away.

look at the not4chan image grabber... implement something like that into the 4chan extension while adding another image naming option. people tend to post pictures numbered 01, 02, 03, etc... this causes the n4c extension to not take the picture. Just make it so it saves it with the name the image board gives it... if that makes any sense
NEED dynamic domain responce option of weather right-click menu is active.
I turn it off cause im sick of all the right-click bloat but it would be great while in 4chan. If js could edit about:config(which it cannot for obvious reasons) i would do it in greasemonkey and it would be easy.

It seems like after 4chan came back online the thread watcher has not been working for me. If I close Firefox whenever I come back all my watched threads will be gone. I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling the add-on and that didn't do anything. Anybody else having this problem or is it just me? More importantly does anybody have any suggestions to make it work properly other than don't close Firefox?
Firefox version: 2.0.0.16
Add-on version: 0.4.5.12
Windows XP
Bug report:
-by default 4ch extension has "show in menu" disabled, but I see the menu option - though it won't open (i can click & highlight the button but it doesn't pop up)
-when i try to enable "show in menu", Firefox crashes.
This may have been suggested already, but can the extension log threads we've viewed and add them to a list we can access later? Not the "Thread Watcher" though, this should be done automatically.

In Firefox 3.0.3, Nothing shows up for me. It use to. No quick reply no expand or hide post buttons and no thread watcher. However they appear once I click reply to expand a post..Everything seems to be correct in the settings....
An option to combine all threads from different boards in the thread watcher, with an additional field indicating which board each thread is from.
Rationale: I'd like to be able to jump to a thread I'm watching without having to click that board first. Additionally, I don't like having to click through each board to check whether or not I'm watching anything that I've forgotten about.
Feature request:
When the subject field is empty, the thread watcher ought to grab the first few dozen characters of the OP's poster instead.
Rationale: Hardly anybody uses the subject field, and having a dozen blank entries to click through kind of sucks.

Could you make it so a thread is automatically removed from the watcher if it's 404? Or have an icon next to it saying it's 404.

Since the boards have speeded up, I'm losing a lot more pictures to the bit-bucket when I post faster than the 45-second flood-detection. When I use the extension, I get no feedback about this.
So, either, is there a way to feedback the board responses, e.g. 'flood detected' 'Picture foo.jpg posted successfully' to the extension; or is it possible to put a timer on, locking the submit button if less than 45 seconds have passed since the previous post?
Same issue here, just in the context menu. Been running 0.4.5.12 in FF 3.0.6 for a long time and it's been working fine until today. The latest thing I did is update Session Manager last night, but uninstalling that didn't really fix anything, so I'm not sure if it's the cause of the problem.
What? The Opera script was actually recently updated? I thought whoever made it had forgotten about it. It's nice, but even as an Opera user, I've never found a need for scripts like these. I like using my tabs with fierce efficiency, and if I have to shut down my PC, the tabs are remembered. I actually do use the older script for automatic noko though, that's actually quite useful!

Here's an idea: make the extension automatically change posting times by a specified number of hours so I can stop subtracting 3 from every single timestamp I look at. Might as well include an option to make it 12-hour time instead of 24-hour while you're at it.
I wrote a greasemonkey script to do exactly this, but I have no way of applying it to posts I expand after the page has loaded, without editing the extension myself.
I'm thinking of making a script with a bunch of little text hacks, one of which would be time change.

I don't know if it's a bug or not, but restarting Firefox will sometimes delete all of my saved thread. It's random too; sometimes all of the thread will be intact, while other times it would be completely obliterated.
You might be wondering what's the point in keeping old, 404'd threads. Some /h/ threads have the titles of doujins in the subject field, and being the lazy faggot I am, I keep at least the titles in order to search for them at a later date.

* The option to disable ads. I am sick of trying to post on /gif/ and /b/ and have text from the ad overlap into the post.

Whenever I click on the (javascript) link to display an image's EXIF information, the EXIF data display expands during the time "loading..." is displayed above the data-column.
As soon as loading is finished, the EXIF stuff collapses again.
When clicking the display link a second time it stays open.
I had this with earlier versions of the plugin as well as with earlier versions of FF.
To make sure no other add-on or extension is interfering, I tested it on FF with a fresh profile, getting the very same result.
Can anybody reproduce/confirm this?

The TW keeps randomly forgetting the threads it was supposed to be watching. I thought this latest update would fix it but it still keeps forgetting the threads.
I tried to revert back to one of the older versions of the TW but I keep running into "4chan 0.4.3.1 will not be installed because it does not provide secure updates." And changing the "extensions.checkUpdateSecurity" (boolean) value in about:config to false doesn't appear to be working in Firefox 3.5. (Though with a little more googling I should be able to find a way to install it.) I'm just wondering why the latest two versions of the TW keeps forgetting my threads.
How to reproduce the problem? It seems to occur randomly whenever I close Firefox. Again, it's very random. Sometimes it does and other times it doesn't.
Firefox v3.5.5
OS: Vista
zip.4chan.org
Note to self: Never under any circumstances update things unless you need to. Had I stayed with TW v4.3 none of this would have ever happened.

I've tested the latest version of the 4chan extension for a few days and it looks like it's working.
Whatever you did in the last upgrade is working for my Vi$ta.
I think I understand why the 4chan filter keeps forgetting threads. It has something to do with the thread watcher page: chrome://4chan/content/ThreadWatch.html
If you delete too much while on this page, the thread watcher will randomly decide to forget some of the threads you've watched. At least that's the case, on Vista. Check the code on that page and make sure there's no bugs.

open it up in a text editor e.g. notepad and email the writer of the script ;ask him if he'd be kind enough to update it. Mind you it wouldnt take a rocket scientist just to substitute the old URLs to the new ones....
It is the latest code, but it isn't working properly under Opera 9.27 and Opera 10, the hide function isn't working and there's always a javascript popup after I post a reply.
I don't see how just changing the "old" url (it is the same *.4chan.org) would fix this.

Am I correct in thinking since the servers were changed to boards.* that fychan stopped working?
Still that would be included under *.4chan.org/*, the address isn't the problem, since the script shows up fine.
Some part of the fychan code is that isn't getting along with the new 4chan code, so some of the features are just doing nothing when you click the buttons.
You guys should check the userjs folder, see if there's any other script in there that could fuck things up (check the Opera Error console - Tools>Advanced>Error console).
In mine there was this old imageshack direct link script appearing everytime on the error console. Just deleted it and thing got back to normal. I can hide threads now!
Still, can't delete the replies you made if you're inside the thread :\

Anon,
I'd like to say a few things. First, i like this post. The ideas for the software that most of you are asking for sound somewhat interesting, although this whole thing is tl;dr.
The browser flameness: PROTIP: You don't need a browser nearly as complicated as firefox or opera to do these boards!
So, half of this, or more, isn't productive But some of it is and should really be on /prog/ because it's really about writing a neat program.
The program has alot of possibilities but what would be best would be a collaborative website on something like sourceforge to get it going, take input, updates, etc.

I have the same issue. Scrollbar is flaky. Otherwise, love the addon.

upgraded to FF 3.6 and am encountering the following;
1-click to expand image = double image.... when unclick 2nd image to shrink I (sometimes) get following message "chan_image_OnClick: BlockQuote not found"
2-cannot grap bottom scroll bar to drag - instead you must click across or use arrows but acts like you are holding the button down.
3-I also have the greasemonkey thread tool which I though had an option to expand all images. I do not see that anymore.
this is all I have noticed at this time. most of the rest seems to work just fine.
#1 - when image is large and showing two pics, clicking the second pic makes them both go back to thumbnail.
when clicking the first image in a thread and then unclicking to get thumbnail again the image ends up at the end of the thread.
that is all for now. thanks.

the images that are hidden, once thread is expanded they act just fine. IE only one image appears when clicked.
If thread is opened with reply button all images act in previous mentioned manor. IE double images upon clicking.

my thread watcher keeps getting stuck where i can't move it. can someone help me get it unstick.
Two suggestions, both are really minor shit though, so I don't care if you ignore this.
1. Perhaps instead of a Quick Reply button, have it appear when you click a post's post number?
2. Also a text mode for the buttons would be nice. I know I could just edit the buttons to look like whatever I want, but having a plain text link instead would be cool imo.

me YET again. As said above I am a tool. After doing some thinking I checked my greasemonkey and it turns out I have 2 4chan filters... 1-4chan filter and 2-4chan thread filter. By turning one off and then the other off I have found the double image problem is connected to the 4chan thread filter.
tl;dr-problems are caused by 4chan thread filter and FF3.6

Dunno if this matters to you, but this extension has a conflict with autopager. None of the extension functions work after the first autopager page-break, except for the "go to next/previous thread" buttons.
That is, I can expand images, threads, do quick replies, etc on the original page opened, but not after the autopager page-break.

I'm also having the scrollbar problem where clicking underneath the scrollbar will make the page scroll all the way to the bottom. I found this page right after e-mailing the developer, so sorry, dev.

I still use Damage's extension for Firefox, but I sort of have to agree with this. It's great that there's finally decent scripts out there that can compare to the official extension that works on other browsers (Opera, Chrome, etc.). Lack of quick reporting was the main reason why I felt there was no other decent alternative.

- Cut out annoying error popups

Yes, I know. I have automatic updates turned off, since sometimes when I'm on the latest version, extensions break.
The 4chan extension is conflicting with the AutoPager extension; it's not really a problem of the browser itself. And it's just the popup reply box, everything else works

In what file does the 4Chan Extension create these? Better yet, can someone create these tables for me in javascript? It's literally the only thing I require from the extension.

Name:
Anonymous2011-04-05 2:37

This is working pretty damn well, however it appears as though in the options under Menu>Hidden Boards there is no list of boards, it's just empty
I also get this message in the Error Console (under messages):
While creating services from category 'profile-after-change', service for entry '4chanManager', contract ID '@4chan.wrathfilledhate.net/menu/manager-object;1' does not implement nsIObserver.
Also as you already know "@4chan.wrathfilledhate.net/menu/manager-object;1" was what causing the original error message with Firefox 4.0, this isn't a big deal to me because I never use the board hiding feature but I'm sure others care
I've been using the extension for a long time now, and it works great--with one exception, the thread watcher. Sometimes when I close Firefox, it will erase all my watched threads. When I reopen the brower, I'll return to find an empty list of threads on every board I browse. This is quite a huge bummer, it's come to the point where I'm afraid to close Firefox.
Any clue on why this might be happening? It's not every time either, it seems to occur at random.

I had this working until I tried to uninstall and reinstall the add-on, and now have the same issue. Updated to FF4, grabbed the newest version of the add-on, same issue still.

To be more precise: I cannot check any boards you want to hide under the "Menu" option of the extension. On top of that, every board now has an obnoxious, large empty space extending way below the actual end of a page.

Name:
Anonymous2011-08-29 11:10

Oh, I sort of do have a recourse. What I did was:
1. go into my FF profile (application data\mozilla\firefox\profiles\gobbledygook.default)
2. find 4chan_boards.xml
3. make a backup
4. opened it in notepad++ and deleted all the boards I didn't want and saved it
5. made the file read only
When I opened FF, it gave an error about not being able to write the file, but the menu works and only has the files I left in it. So it's sort of a ticky-tacky fix and I have to find and destroy the line in 4chan.js (I think) to make it quit trying to download its own version of 4chan_boards.xml on startup, but it's better than seeing the whole board list when I open the menu.

Why not use the 4chanX user script? It can do everything 4chan extension can do, but better and with many more features.
Install greasemonkey extension for firefox, which will enable you to install user scripts, then go here http://mayhemydg.github.com/4chan-x/ and install the script.
After it is installed, you will see a [4chan x] link near where the board links are. This link will open settings which will let you choose what features you want.
