/g/ often does this — being a faggot, I thought I’d ask /prog/.
Which languages would you put in the following tiers:
• God
• Top
• Hacker
• Hipster
• Shit
Thank you, /prog/!

I got a better idea, lets put languages into catagories first, then you can tier them, because its full retard to say that C is in a higher tier than bash when they do entirely different things. I'll start
YOU ARE CONFUSING THE LANGUAGE WITH ITS IMPLEMENTATION YOU FUCKING TARD NOW GO BACK TO G AND CONTINUE TO THINK THAT LANGUAGES WITH IMPLEMENTATIONS THAT USE VIRTUAL MACHINES CANNOT ALSO USE IMPLEMENTATIONS THAT COMPILE TO NATIVE CODE.

youre wrong, how a programming language is implemented makes a huge difference. if that were not true then everyone would be using a single unified programming language and just porting the backend for different implementations. But that does not happen, because implementation affects what the syntax is able to do. This is like all the idiots on /prog/ who start threads announcing DUUUR PYTHON COMPILES TO C CODE WE DONT NEED C ANYMORE HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUR
this is also similar to the idiots who say "C++ is a great garbage collection language" lol

The designers of the language were very surprised to find that very few C and C++ programmers started to use their new language and that most of the current user base are mainly Python and Ruby programmers.
