I would go punch Richard Stallman right in his beard.
Then I'd force feed him to buy a copy of Adobe CS6, Microsoft Office for Mac 2011, and Windows Vista Ultimate Edition 32-bit.
As he's sprawling on the ground writhing in pain and indignity, I'd grab his Thinkpad, I'd hackintosh it, then for good measure, I'd bolt a Macbook Air to his back, and install Gentoo on it.

He doesn't have a ThinkPad for that would involve non-free firmware.
Also, force feeding him will only make him stronger.
Also, you're a huge Windows-using mouthbreating faggot, fuck off and die.

He may buy copies of this software but would you force him to depend on it?

yes! lock him in a room with no internet connection and nothing but OSX software, and no XCode

He'll just end up reimplementing Emacs in Applescript. Elisp2 will be born. C# will perish before Elisp2's awesomeness.
Once that's done he'll set up a SLIP link with a remote building using a laser pointer and a photoresistor, and reimplement just enough of GNU in Elisp2 to receive web pages through email. Now you'll have two GNUs.
Lock him in a secure bunker. The only objects in the room are a sink, a toilet (both going to a closed sewage system) and a computer with an internet connection.
His only chance of escape is to use the computer to email for help. The catch? The computer runs Windows 8 with secure boot.
RMS would have to choose between starving to death or using a proprietary OS. Hard to call.

He won't starve to death, he'll just eat his own toejam.
Stallman's only computer is a Lemote Yeeloong netbook (using the same company's Loongson processor) which he chose because it can run with 100% free software even at the BIOS level, stating "freedom is my priority. I've campaigned for freedom since 1983, and I am not going to surrender that freedom for the sake of a more convenient computer." Lemote is a joint venture of the Institute of Computing Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, an institution of the State Council of China.

At least the treacherous part can't be in the firmware, which reduces a paranoid faggot's work.
Ask yourself: would you eat mass produced foods if there was no external review and no requirement to list ingredients on the label? Imagine that not only do you not know what's in your food, but any attempt to find out what's in it will be met by swift legal action and large fines.
If not, why would you use computers with closed firmware and software that might well be legally spying on you (as is the case with most phones), and is subject to those exact rules?

Monsanto is already doing this.

BECAUSE I AM A FUCKING RETARD AND EVERYONE ELSE IS DOING IT HURR DURR
Open sores is good for small but useful utilities; stuff that a decent programmer could re-write in less than a month. I really don't give a shit about my OS, compiler, image editor, or browser being open sores since I have no interest or expertise to fiddle with them. The "freedums" argument in general loses meaning when you either cannot or don't want to modify the software for redistribution. Even proprietary software can be extended with plugins. But freetards don't care about any of this because the whole "you can modify it" rhetoric is a cover for ulterior motives. They want to eliminate IP. They willingly admit that it has more to do with a utopian vision of society (a la communism) than software. Fuck GPL. Fuck rms.
>>24
It all makes sense now. IBM, Samsung, Google, Canonical, Oracle, and Apple all want to eliminate IP of a utopian communist society. You sir, are a genius.
>>27
Those companies aren't freetarded. Most of them probably use Macs internally, with or without GEW/Linux. They deal with open sores as a way to make/save money, a corruption of the real goal of "free" software. As in freetard, I'm talking about your typical FSF member / non-Ubuntu distro forum member / distro developer / distro contributor / rms cock sucker. They are the insane ones.

Sorry, after that shit post you pretty much lost your right to post here. Your writing patterns have been recorded. It would be wise if you left and never returned again.

Because RMS' the hero we deserves, but not the one we needs right now. So, we'll hunt him, because he can take it. Because he's not our hero. He's a silent guardian. A watchful protector. A Dark Knight.
