Are you a talented programmer local to New York, NY – Palo Alto, CA – or Richmond, VA?
If so, feel free to e-mail a resumé to moot@4chan.org along with a list of reasons why you don't suck.
Hell, if you work in advertising/marketing/PR/etc. or something like that, shoot me an e-mail as well. Note: This is just a feeler. Don't expect a response, seriously. Also if you stink at programming, only know Java, or are remotely new to it ("HURR I'M IN CS101!"), please don't waste my time. Oh, and please don't attempt any sort of humor at all. Thanks!
What is moot trying to do here? Everyone knows you don't need half a brain to hack a imageboard script, maintain GNAA/Lunix servers or design a Web 2.0 website. Did he get that much money from ads that he's now able to start his own start-up company?
If I ever see Yotsuba Channel, Inc. in NASDAQ, I'm going to throw myself from a building.
Or is he just trying to score a job by pretending he's interested in programmers, when all he wants is contacts?

If you only know Java, what are you doing in /prog/?

Anything's better than nothing, I'm guessing.

I'm mailing him the /prog/snake. I bet he hasn't read his SICP today.

I'm pretty sure that if he wanted people to work on the site, the announcement wouldn't be written like that. Sure, it wards off /g/ idiots, but an EXPERT PROGRAMMER will just tell moot to fuck off if he was expected to hack php scripts.
This has to be for something else.
>>6
4chan admins already know that /prog/ is about. I can't find it in my logs, but I remember MrVacBob saying something along the lines of "/prog/ is /sicp/".

Well, I'm not so sure about that. We'll see, I guess.

Moot wants an expert programmer to fuck him. If he wanted someone to write his page he'd just call in an EXPERT PHP CODER.

Also, considering that hacking imageboard scripts can be outsourced to anywhere in the world, the location restriction makes me suspect this isn't about 4chan at all.
So, who's going to mail him the ``I wrote an ANSI C compiler at the age of 12'' resumé?
>>13 Also, considering that hacking imageboard scripts can be outsourced to anywhere in the world, the location restriction makes me suspect this isn't about 4chan at all.
It gives me the impression they're looking for a person who's actually reliable or whathaveyou. As opposed to some random /b/tard who volunteered to add a couple of lines of PHP.
If it wasn't about 4chan, why on earth would you ask on the imageboards?

Yes, but, Are you a talented programmer local to New York, NY – Palo Alto, CA – or Richmond, VA?
If you were working at PARC, why the fuck would you want to mess with moot's ugly futallaby's hack? The fact that he restricted it to these three places is what makes me think that he's looking for contacts within the EXPERT RESEARCH world rather than actual programmers.

Moot wants to sell something
But what the fuck could he sell?
Maybe open up his own weaboo import shop?

He pretty much hates weeaboo things now. He renegaded everything he hated about /a/ to /jp/. (Then the mods proceeded to throw everything they hated about /jp/ to touhouproject.com)
Though it's possible that he might want to set up his own J-List clone, only with more crap that /b/tards would eat up (LOL PEDOBEAR PLUSHIES EPIIIC WIIIIIN LULZ), which explains why they no longer advertise in 4chan...

Even if I ran OpenBSD, I would still claim to run FreeBSD or NetBSD, just for the purpose of annoying Theo de Raadt. He's one of the most trollable open source personalities out there.

What the fuck are you talking about? We know. It's in BIG RED TEXT below the reply field on all the imageboards except for /b/ (geez, I wonder why?).
This thread was made to discuss the announcment. There was no trolling involved.
I am an EXPERT PROGRAMMER.
Lisp is my body, and lambda is my blood.
I have created over 999 spells.
Unaware of java.
Nor aware of bugs.
Withstood emacs to create many paretheses.

I have no flaws, this was the only path.

ah yes didn't see that; I scanned the end of your post due to FORCED INDENTATION and assumed you used nmap exclusively.
I hate things that pop up, specifically on web pages. Not just pop-up advertising, but when you mouse over a link and then there's a little floating box that shows some "helpful" information, or maybe a miniaturized version of the page that is being linked to. It blocks the text I'm trying to read. I never click on anything in the floating box. I know how to open links in a new tab, thank you very much.
I'm an obsessive highlighter/clicker I click and drag and double click on random text as I read it. I don't know why. I hate this behavior in other people but I can't seem to stop myself from doing it. I'm noticing more and more blogs that actually do something when I double click on random text, like search for it. I hate those blogs. I never visit them again.
Is this the Web 2.0 that people keep telling me about, because it's really annoying and I want it to stop.

How can you click and drag while reading at a normal rate?
I can't find it in the /a/rchive. Also, requesting the .png with the trips of several /a/ trip users. The /a/rchive only archives thumbnails.

I do this too, and I hate this automatic searching/whatever. It's especially annoying because if I want to search for a word, I'll search for it. My browser lets me do this quite easily. Stop doing useless shit.

Interviews over the telephone are about as reliable as interviews on IRC.
And forget about anything resembling meetings. Things like discussing a design over the internet is hopeless because all remote collaboration tools suck. This is part of the reason why open source GUIs tend to be so abysmal.
It kind of works for open source projects because everyone just does their own things, but it's hopeless if you want to manage the project centrally and review progress, divide resources, etc.

even if you're using php you can still want a good programmer, so they can do things like:
1. be completely paranoid
2. rewrite it in ruby/ocaml/smalltalk while you're not looking
3. know C so they can debug php and the kernel and write a faster thumbnailer (;_;)
holy wtf 4chan runs on nginx? that httpd is shit WHAT THE FUCK
source please!
if dis was moved to nginx it wouldn't run on Freebsd Apache Php and i wouldn't be able to make that joke. but maybe Beos Ngnix Php is more appropriate for /newpol/?
