Explain why Ubanto is Awful

Name: Anonymous 2007-11-25 10:58

Seriously.  I love anything Debian-based, but I don't understand the hate for Ubuntu.

Also, explain which distribution you prefer.

In before EXPERT PROGRAMMER, read SICP, etc etc.

This is a /comp/ problem, sonny.

I'm interested in abusing LISP to "hack" someone's (will go unnamed) computer, for reasons I'll keep to myself. I've done a little research on it, but I haven't yet found any solid evidence that you can use LISP to "hack" someone's computer.

But if you really wanna know, it's getting closer to Windoze. Installation, help, everything has a graphical interface, etc.

Oh noes, are the user interfaces shrinking your e-penis?

Not at all, I am Ubuntu user myself, I am just expressing what I thought before installing Ubuntu.

ubuntu is swahili for aids

Name: Anonymous 2007-11-25 15:01

ubuntu is like pc-bsd, except that ubuntu is harder to install and doesn't work right half the time.

>ubuntu is like pc-bsd
It's Debian for dummies.
I'm too stupid to know how to use Ubuntu properly, which is the easiest of all distros
fix'd, faggot

perhaps you could explain why when one of my friends installed ubuntu on his laptop it didn't have gcc and wouldn't install the package because it said it was already installed, and wouldn't uninstall it because the files weren't there?

This isn't a Microsoft help line.

Ubuntu is horribly broken.

Ubuntu is an old african word meaning "I can't configure debian".

"I can't configure debian".

I have better things to do than configure debian... yet again. FIXED.

Ubuntu is an old african word meaning "I can't configure debian so I'll just throw a graphical installer on a horribly misconfigured version of debian and tell people it's easy to use."

I've had a terrible with installing it, personally (albeit, I've only tried to install it on laptops). Every time, it just gave me retarded errors and would either not boot, or boot and then die.

Installing gentoo solved the problem every time.

The only thing I hate about Ubuntu is that the system tools don't work with pppoe.
I can't install new packages or update stuff because of that.
Well, I could but I'd have to manually download that shit which sucks.

My only gripe with Ubuntu is that its name makes me think I'm using some Made in Congo software. Also, I fucking hate the color orange as a main theme.

That's about it, really. That's what open sores people get for ignoring basic marketing studies. Yes, marketing people are faggots, but a bad name can really hurt your product. That's a fact.

Ubuntu seems to be doing all right.

Name: Anonymous 2007-11-26 15:01

But of course, if they had better marketing ala Microsoft, they could probably get a whole lot more users.

>>21
Yes, I agree, the theme is retarded and the name is too foreign-sounding.

Name: Anonymous 2007-11-26 15:59

Backtrack is the answer.

Debian is an even worse name

Huh.
