Closet Conservative here.

Name: Anonymous 2011-01-26 10:29

Look. I'm against high taxes as much as the next guy. I like my health insurance. I'm a Christian. I vote Republican.

But you know what I'm NOT? A fucking Tea Bagger. It's because of them that I'm in the closet about being a conservative nowadays, because they embarrass the fuck out of me and make all conservatives look like batshit insane psedu-revolutionary jingoists.

The birther shit is crazy. No, I don't like Obama. Yes, I'm pissed he got elected. But I'm not retarded enough to suggest that he's not born in the United States, because the election committee, the SCOTUS, and Congress would have known if he wasn't a U.S. Citizen, and it would be the biggest conspiracy ever just to get a black guy in the White House. The fact that you people actually take this shit seriously and tout it in public only serves to make conservatives, including myself, look like paranoid fucktards.

What's worse is this "revolution" bullshit. Okay, we lost an election. I know, it sucks. But to go around saying you're going to shoot up the White House and Congress if you lose ANOTHER election? What the fuck is this, the 1800s? For one thing, what do you and your coon-huntin' rifle plan to do against tanks, helicopters, and drones? For another, do you really want to make us look THAT fucking insane? This is America, and it's the 21st century. A bunch of rednecks with Glocks aren't going to take down the U.S. Army.

And the Creationists, holy fuck. It's not bad enough to deny evolution despite all of the scientific evidence that supports it (which is about as dumb as denying the Holocaust), but then to demand we teach it in school? Yeah, I'm a Christian too. But come on.

TL;DR I'm a closet conservative because teabaggers are fucking insane and I don't want to be associated with them.

So what you're saying is... you have political opinions and you don't get all butthurt and violent about them?

Sounds like you'll fit right in here!

I am also a conservative and have voted for conservative policies for decades. I am tired of how the name itself has been hijacked and is now synonymous with useless social issues and religion. I dont mind the social issues being debated when its constructive to do so, but they are being used as shields and badges and are trotted out again and again while real and tangible issues never see the light of day.

I do not even see real conservative agendas being promoted on a federal level, not at all. Just bullshit song and dance wedge issues, and finger pointing.

It is a shame. The Republican party once just wanted to steal the evangelicals, but to keep them they had to gut the party and now it is useless.

Even op, who is trying to explain that he is a rational moderate adds in "I'm christian" to identify himself as a conservative...when that has absolutely nothing to do with anything, it is simply an association drummed into our heads by those with no real ideas or aptitude...it is marketing, and that is what the Republican party has become. Everything they say and do is about strengthening the brand, not our country.

And of course the Democrats are too unorginized and busy watching their own polls to force the Republicans to step up to the plate, which may often be a blessing since it means that they are also unable to pass their agendas.

We just had a round of elections in which I was booed at town hall meetings for asking things such as "what will you specifically cut please?" simply because I dared to question the party line. And these people are supposed to be conservatives?

And then they had a group prayer. I am not even kidding.

You might want to look into classical liberalism since it is the only logical line of political philosophy. I was also faced with the dilemma of disagreeing with both christian fundamentalists and all varieties of socialist, this is the conclusion I came to.

As an Aquatic Ape supporter, I wonder why there isn't more back-wind for pushing this into textbook as opposed to ID.  Sure, Intelligent Design has it's supports, same with Creationism, and all the while we're bitching and moaning about these two, or one, if you choose to see it that way, theories [/gag] can we focus on updating our current scientific texts with a whole bunch of theories that are out there, whether or not they make sense.  Hell, kids learn Heliocentric last, but does that make any of them believe in the "Dome in the Sky" Judaic myth?

Being an independent, I see the Teabaggers as the equivalent as the Obamastars, the difference is one group was attempting to support a rhetoricist, the other's message is much more negative.  Negative is getting much more backlash 'cause it's a negative movement.  Teabaggers just have shit for PR, and even less coordinated effort.

TL;DR--Fanaticism sucks, I agree OP.

Barack Obama's officially published PDF-format birth certificate has layers, meaning it's been digitally created, not scanned paper.

No.  Seriously.  Look it up.  The "officially published rilly rilly true birf certificate we rilly rilly mean it this time" is a .pdf document, which was picked apart by people who actually know something about the software within minutes of being made available for download, and which turned to have been rather crudely cobbled together.  Do you know anything about Acrobat, by the way?  Do you know what "layers" are?

Yes, I know.  HURF DURF DEM BIRFERS IZ CRAZY, DE TEEVEE SAY SO, HURF DURF FAUX NEWS HURF DURF I'M SO FUNNY

All I want is the COONs to leave America, and Fix Africa.
Then,
-no more starving children.
-No more gehto trash ruining cities such as Detroit, which is 89% black.

Same goes the Beaners who's country is falling apart at the seams.
You don't see me running to the nicer European countries, now do you?

Then we white can fix our country,if an influx of cash.

Yet we can't fix our country with every 3rd world rat, who comes crawling into our country...as they refuse to fix their hell holes.

I don't want to kill your people, I just don't want France and who ever to have 53% of the newborn children BLACK

You don't need to know shit beyond the basics about "software" to dissect the certificate. If it's a photocopy of a genuine paper document from the 60's, it would all be one layer.

The PDF document contains a layer for text and one for background.

Name: Anonymous 2011-10-07 18:57

Question for OP here.
I live in Amsterdam, I'm a social-democrat and an atheist.
How do you see Amsterdam? Like the place where you can abort your children if they have the wrong eye color?
Do you watch O'Reilly?

To Americans, Amsterdam is Sodom, but with more drugs.  This is true both of Conservatives, who denounce it, and Liberals, who think that the problem with America is that we don't give condoms and clean syringes to enough six-year-olds.

Spoke to a county archivist recently.  Apparently here's how this shit works down my way.

When people ask for a birth certificate, they generally get one of two things, one of which is a birth certificate, the other is not a birth certificate but people call them that anyway and they are just as good.  Back in the day, when a baby was born, the parents have to go to the local BMD registry, where they give all kinds of details about the baby, who the parents are, etc.  Someone at the registry would enter these details onto the register of births, which was basically a big ledger.  They'd then put the same details onto a numbered bit of paper called a "Certificate of Birth".  No copies are kept, and it's the only one you get.  The information is still recorded in the register though. Years down the line, you need a "birth certificate" but your "Certificate of Birth" isn't at hand.  You go to the registry and ask for a "birth certificate", the guy looks you up on the register and copies the information onto another bit of paper called a "Certified Copy of an Entry in the Register of Births".  Over time, someone thought it would be cool to put in these fancy things called "computers", which they could use to maintain the new register of births, and onto which they could eventually transfer the previous registers.  Now, if they want to issue a "Certified Copy", they go to the computer, and it spits out a PDF which might have a scanned background, and then adds the text from the electronic register.  The scanned background is probably for reference only, because the details then need to be printed onto the special numbered stationery used for the "Certified Copy".

Of course, it might just be OCR'd, since I've seen PDFs containing scanned documents with selectable text before.

You seem not to understand how Adobe works, but that's okay, smarter people than you do, and put all the information online.

http://www.scribd.com/collections/3166684/Obama-Birth-Certificate-Other-Docs-Forged-Expert-Reports

I know it's got a lot of big words, but let me give you the tl;dr version.  It's as phony as Dan Rather's phony "Killian documents" that were brought out in an attempt to influence the 2004 elections, and probably took a couple of bored interns less time to whack together in Adobe.  Yet the White House put it on their servers and made it publicly available for anyone to download and take apart.

The Obama Administration combines arrogance with incompetence in a very efficient fashion, don't you think?

Let me predict your reaction.  "LA LA LA I CAN'T HEAR YOU CRAZY BIRTHERS FAUX NEWS HA HA I'M SO SMART LA LA LA"

>Several hundred failed lawsuits in conservative-dominated courts, including the Supreme Court
>Dozens of failed state laws in red states asking obama for birth certificate before getting on ballot
>Several military lower-rungs destroying their careers and future job prospects for 15 mins of fame
>No action from the GOP/Tea Party/other people who would benefit from such a scandal happening
>Constant ridicule and refutations from conservative giants like Glenn Beck, Ann Coulter, Mark Levin and Michelle Malkin

Why should anyone take your next new "discovery" seriously? The "omg layers" investigation is just as bad as the truthers who tried to call jpg artifacts cruise missiles/C4 charges/HAARP beams. Either get a GOP presidential candidate/high-tier GOP senator to talk about this for more than 5 seconds or get out.

Name: Anonymous 2011-10-10 0:09

Forget it bro.  You're talking about the people who fell for a forged document, and then claimed that the forger's photos of his kit was shooped.  They also seem to think that someone somehow knew 50 years ahead of time that his birth needed to be announced in the wrong place, even though his mother's nationality would mean he could have been born in the Kremlin and still been a US citizen.
