Capitalism vs. Socialism

Hi, I'm a college freshman, and therefore an idiot.
I like the idea of socialism, but I hate large government and government control. I like the idea of capitalism, but it causes the rich to get richer and for global marketers to crush smaller businesses; plus I don't want to be lumped in with all those social darwinist Objectivist douchebags.

What should I do? Books I should read to sway me more towards one opinion or the other?

Just force a bunch of niggers to do all the work.

if you decrease the corporate tax rate to 20%, then there would be far fewer global marketers. Also everyone gets rewarded because of lots and lots of jobs due to the increase in business done here from the tax breaks. Competition is what fuels an economy. When you take away competition and regulate strictly there is no incentive to do work. Sorry there has to be some motivation for getting a reward.

Also let tonight's lesson show you government's bad intentions. More restrictions and less freedoms will be the end result of this foreshadowing.

Don't find books that will sway you to one side or the other. Just be aware of each system's good sides and bad sides. Most democratic countries have implemented bits of both sides in their laws and societies, so don't lock yourself into a single ideology.

After we finished a subject in class with a test on it (counted for 15% of the final grade) my teacher wrote the normal grade below the test and the average grade the whole class got in brackets behind. Then after everyone received his test he asked the whole class if they rather want the average score as their real grade or keep their personal grade. We had to write "yes" or "no" on a piece of paper and throw it in a hat that was going around.

Yes won and thus he eliminated 90% of the bullshit arguments right at the beginning of the socialism/communism theme we were about to begin (in the end the personal grades did count
