Capitalism vs. Socialism

Name: Anonymous 2010-03-21 15:41

Hi, I'm a college freshman, and therefore an idiot.
I like the idea of socialism, but I hate large government and government control. I like the idea of capitalism, but it causes the rich to get richer and for global marketers to crush smaller businesses; plus I don't want to be lumped in with all those social darwinist Objectivist douchebags.

What should I do? Books I should read to sway me more towards one opinion or the other?

Excuse me? Are you implying that I am a Black person because I corrected your boring, generic, racist diatribe? I am White myself. But even if I was Black, what difference would that make? It's a shame that we're in the second decade of the 21th century, and apparently there are still those who haven't let go of the obsoleted mindset of the 19th. I do take in comfort though, that such are festering in small pockets in the United States and of the world.

But of course, that is a bigger issue for you, since you cling to your ideology like a 30 year-old man still hanging on to his old childhood stuffed teddy bear that he still sleeps with when he goes to bed at night. A heavily soiled, rotten, filthy teddy bear that carries a legacy of pain, torture, tyranny, deceit and suffering that could destroy even the most hardened of mortal men.

One day you will have to make a choice, one of disposable of that awful, wretched, filthy, rotten piece of fabric — or, you will hang on to it until it consumes you and everything you love and hold dearly whole!

The choice is up to you, and with that a bid you good luck on your journey and a good day.
