I'll try to make this less asinine than I did on /b/.
There's this girl a really like. I've felt this way for a while, but could never actually make a move or anything, partly because I was afraid she wouldn't be my friend anymore, but mostly because she's almost always seeing someone else & is unavailable. However, I've done everything BUT make a move on her. I've been nothing but nice for two years. I've gone out of my way to do nice thigns for her all the time. I've dropped what I was doing or ditched my other friends to spend time with her. I've helped her with things, even when I didn't want to, & supported her when she was having problems. I was even kind & supportive at times when she ocassionally wasn't being very nice. Yes, some of these are things friends should do anyhow, but I always treated her special, putting her before anyone else, even myself. (And to those of you with a one-track mind, no, I wasn't jsut being nice to try to score with her. Yes, she's attractive, but I can get meaningless sex anywhere, I actually cared about this girl.)
So, after breaking up with her latest BF, who does she start dating? My roommate! He was never outright mean to her or anything, but he was enver particularly nice to her, either. In fact, she asked him out once, & he rejected her, really hurting her feelings. And now she's crawling back to him!
I hate them both right now, but I think I ahte myself more. I jsut fail at life.

Tell me about it. Sort of same story here but mine been going on for like 4 years. And I gave numerous times of thinking about it about if its all worth it. In the end yes, eventhough I like her I still very much see her as friend.
What can I say. Some people just don't see the best things in life just right in front of them. And if we are talking about girls, we go into that stupid "friends" issue. Which probably what your girl in your situation is thiking as with mine. Mine is probably like "oh, he is the best friend. But I can't ever see him as a boyfriend."
What I really want to just do is just shout out to her face of how I have been the ONLY one that has really been there for her through thick and thin. But then you know the moment you do that, you start to be a selfish conceited bastard. And then again, treating her the best and being there for her isn't always going to win her feelings.

You dont fail at life. You just do one thing wrong.
Being kind is fucking good quality. Not everyone can be like you. BUT dont be nice & kind all the time! I know it seems to be cliche but it is true. Be aggresive sometimes. Argue sometimes. Dont do everything she wants. That is the point.
Partly it is girls weapon. But it works. Because being kind is stereotype. Girl doesnt want a boy which she can have. Girl doesnt want a boy who always says "Yes"

Seriously...saying yes all the time would just make them hate you more.

Regarding being super nice to women: my theory is that if you are super nice to women, they think that all you want to do is get in their pants.

... which is true. Other than having a vagina and smelling nice the large majority of them have no other redeemable qualities.
Tat is the problem. When you are going after them, they want you to be all aggressive and not Mr. Nice Guy. But the moment you are in a relationship with them, they want you to be all nice and kind. They want their guys to make a total 180 on their character the moment they are in a relationship.

I would do anything to get in Chiaki Kuriyama's pants.
>>11 next time you're really close to a girl, smell her. if you don't think it's just the best smell ever you're either gay or hanging out hobos. either way, gtfo

You were so busy acting like you wanted to be a good friend that you missed the chance to bone her. Maybe you can get her in like 30 years like in some shitty movie or something.

I never read past "this girl/my sister/my cousin", it's always the same shit anyway.
You're being the husband a little too early. Nobody wants to date a dedicated husband. They want the wild and cool biker kickboxer that smokes 20 cigars a minute and beats women.
They want us to fake it yet they want honesty. If we show any kindness, its turn off yet it is what they really want. If we show dedication, they get scared yet when they ask for it, they expect it immediatly.

That's a ridiculous stereotype. I mean, come on. There are lots of different types of women, and most are perfectly decent people who don't fantasize about being gang-raped by a bunch of "wild and cool" heroin addict motorcyclists.

Well I also got a female friend who I also like. So she was on like a major holiday in Asia for like 2 months. During that time I called her once n a while (through skype etc so didnt cost me a bundle) or rather she called me too. Helped her choose where to go during her hols, sort her roaming call etc etc.
So she came back last week. Ends up the first people she goes meet up is her girlfriends. Not me who has been there for me. Yes granted that now I got a new job that has me finish by 6pm. usually I see her at like afternoons but thats not possible now with the job. So she tells me thats too late for her to meet up.
Yet with her girlfriends she is willing to meet up at like 8pm. I freaking hate being relegated like this.
no matter how much we argue and try to figure it out nothing will ever happen, just accept that we are failures at life , we have 1 in a million chance to get a girlfriend. Ive done what >>1 has done, and no matter how many sacrifices you make for her, how many ways you change your lifestyle and abandon your friends for her, or how much you feel for her etc, in the end you will always fail.
if you confess to her a thousand times nothing will happen either, you are just wasting your breath, she simply doesnt see you as the man she wants.
So just give up, stop trying so hard, and throw away your idealistic goals and think of the true reality of things, because in true reality, she isnt interested in you, she wants another man, its very simple. All the things you sacrificed for her will result to nothing, and your life will be in ruins when youve finally decide it was impossible in the first place.

Were there any nerds back in the day? It seems to me nerds have only been around since the 80's. How did I come up with that? I guess it's because I don't know a nerd that's in their 50's. Is it because of computers? Think about it: computers offer some form of companionship. Someone to talk to. Who doesn't care what you look like. Who won't judge your lifestyle, or how much you earn (exept when you're running Windows XP). I guess some of us, (myself included, I'm afraid) rather than risk rejection or heartbreak, just turn on the computer.
Thats rather simple, try and get her alone, and tell her how you feel, if you really want to try and pursue a relationship, that would result in A) Awkwardness between you both B) Rejection, or C) she feels the same way.. or D) you both agree to be just friends
yeah i know it may hurt not having someone you really like, but as long as your honest and out in the open with her.. you wont feel as bad at the end of the day if she rejects you
