sup /lang/. I'm currently double majoring in Mandarin Chinese and Italian. I've got the chance to spend my next year abroad, but I can't decide whether to spend a year in italy, a year in china, or a semester in each. I know it's a personal decision, but I just wonder if anyone's had any experience (postive/negative) in these countries that they'd care to share.
Also, cocks.

Lucky bastard.

I'm leaning towards half and half. Maybe I could do a year in china and a summer program in italy? I don't know what to decide, and the deadline for study abroad is coming up!
Panic!

You fucking people should learn how to decide things for yourselves instead of asking random people in anonymous text boards.

I'm not going to base my choice solely off of this. DO you seriously fucking think I haven't talked to other people? Are you so fucking arrogant that you think /lang/ was the only place I was going to ask, and it was going to be the sole factor in my decision? I'm here because I would like to here opinions. Or not.

Circumstances in China depend solely on if you're white.

If yes, prepare to be assaulted by people. I went there with a German friend once, nobody paid attention to me, of course, but they pretty much swarmed her. She had barely functional Chinese and I ended up having to translate since most people were like, "Sorry can you repeat that? I can't really understand what you're saying." x 10000000000, so I'd say it was pretty embarrassing for her. Don't know if you actually want that kind of attention.

You'll probably also get random people talking to you in what sounds like English that's been passed through a blending machine. It's hard to not laugh. It really is. Especially when they attempt to use English "slang". Yeah.

Did you like your time in China, overall? Would you do it again, if you could?

You don't think I know how to make a decision by myself? I asked for any other opinions on a relevant place. I missed your point because you didn't have one in the first place.

Overseas study is such an awesome opportunity, it's a shame more people don't take advantage of it.

Going to both would be fun, but I'd be worried about missing out on things because you don't get to spend as long in each place. I'd say pick one you like more, spend a year there, and do a summer in the other.

I'd say China, but I imagine I'm biased as I'm moving there next week. The Olympics will be awesome, and you could try volunteering for a translator spot.

I tend to agree with you. I think a year in a single location would be more useful (and probably more fun). China seems like the place that'd be harder to arrange anything after I graduate, so I think that'd make experience in China more valuable. If I spend just the summer in italy and fall in love with it, there's got to be a way to balance the two countries and still have enough money to stay alive. Right?! ;_;

Depends on what drugs you like. Italy has lots of cocaine. China has lots of meth and opium.

Don't change these.
