I'm looking for a good high fantasy book to read on the plane and in the hotel on my vacation. I was thinking about something from the Runelords series. Any suggestions? Something I can finish in a week?

You can read any book in a week if you spend enough time on it, but im assuming you dont want a 1000 pager. Look into the Harry Potter Series (good quick fantasy reads), the Xanth series I have heard is also good and on the light side, the Bartimeaus Trilogy, the dragon cycle trilogy (one of my favorite short series), and some of the magic the gathering books are very good.
If you DO have a little more time, I would suggest the song of ice and fire series and the Sword of truth saga. Both of those are very good. Hope this helps!

Hero's song (it's part of a trilogy but I forget what the others are called) was very good, and not terribly long.

Edith Pattou? I've only found a Hero's song by her, and it's part of a duology.

I'm not a big fantasy fan, but I can recommend you books by Michael Moorcock. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corum - I've read some of these and they were quite awesome.
Also, Id recommend the Sword of Truth, or Wheel of Time, series. theyre both long series, but the books are nice and meaty. pick up a copy of either and it should hold you for reading material for the week.
SCI-FI A book called EON.

Fortress in the Eye of Time? Depending on how much free time you have, the first one or two ought to take about a week.
Also: If you want to read some books by actual authors, not 2-bit hacks, there are two authors of note: Robin Hobb and David Gemmel.

I very much stand by Hobb. Sad, high fantasy, of the charector foccussed kind.
Song of fire and ice was also very good.
One that I read my younger sister a good few years ago and enjoyed myself was http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Haunting_of_Alaizabel_Cray
Its for a younger audience I'd re-read if I knew where it was. Recommended christmas present for younger relatvies.

Try Warhammer fiction from games workshop.
They contract some fairly good writers, and the result is either horrible, or unexpectedly awesome.
Felix and Gotrek series, which you can get online, are a really good read.
Enenmy Within was also pretty fun although that was undeniably dreadful
