It's said Hideki Tamura as an Animation Director.
The famous Kanada animator is back.
And also Masahito Yamashita and Hirotoshi Sano as a KA, but I'm not sure.

Oh shit Tamura!! Somewhat of an inspiration to Obari. Imaishi also admires him too. His work on this OVA OP was really awesome

Kinda sad that Tamura stopped animating towards the end of the 80s.

Tatsuro Kawano debut as a key animator on Medaka Box Episode 9.
He is the prize winner of NPO's newcomer animators award this year.

He's apparently a Yoshinari lover and very talent young man.
Actually, he did a key animation and char designs for Fumiko's Confession before.

The another prize winner of this year, Moeka Kuga also on Medaka Box eps 9 as a KA.

She is a follower of Imaishi, maybe Nishigori too.

Gainax isn't finished yet.

Gainax is dead, all the newcomers also plan to change to Trigger soon.

Forgett Gainax, it's just a name, all the genius is at Trigger now.

Since this thread refers to animation in general, I'm looking for some help.

I'm planning on doing a personal project. A simple 2D animation.

I'm looking for advice on both Traditional(Pencil & Paper) and Digital approaches.

I'd prefer to do it on a paper since I find it more comfortable to draw there rather than on a tablet.

Name: Anonymous 2012-06-01 10:43

>>254 I think you should open a thread on Anipages off topic section. some people might give some good advice there

Pen tablets are fine if you drawing as a hobby.
But most pro-animators use pencil and paper.

I second this notion, the folks at Anipages should be able to help you out. Just explain what you are doing thoroughly, what your skills are, what your aim is etc..

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll be doing this then.

I'm not sure how many times it was explained, but
many of the instrument scenes were not completely rotoscoped, and some of them are total animation.

It was mainly a mix of both animation and rotoscope and sometimes (depends on the skills of the animator) they just used the live-action footage only as reference.

Nobutaka Ito's animation in episode 7 as example was animated.
(the footage was probably used as reference)
He was responsible for Sentaro's animation in this scene

As much as some people scream about rotoscope.

This just proves that Madhouse >>>>>>>> KyoAni.

So epic XD

Name: Anonymous 2012-06-03 7:58

>>267

Anyone can say "info source: Bahi JD", but do you have any proof that he told you this thing?

Name: Anonymous 2012-06-03 10:05

>>270

He tweeted it when duckroll asked, but then he deleted his tweets. Maybe he didn't want the "lazy animators" to look back next to Nobutake Ito and whoever else didn't rotoscope?

Name: Anonymous 2012-06-04 3:52

I have yet to watch the Berserk movie, but was there anything interesting with regards to the animation? How was the CG?

>>271 I agree, Bahi deletes his tweets a lot.

He recently tweeted that Dogakobo asked him to work on YuruYuri, he was glad about it but he kindly rejected because the show is not his cup of tea.

Later on, he removed the tweet.

But he is not the only one, Yama and Yutapon do that way more often than he does. I will remember to screenshot some of these events, you never know, because "pics or it didn't happen"

More than that, I want to know how was the Blood-C movie.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bTfUWZr9rog
Jeez, looks really gorgeous.

Name: Anonymous 2012-06-04 10:53

the Berserk movie...

the shot composition and flow was good across the board but there's only so much you can achieve with stiff CGI animation. The 2D animation was good but there wasn't enough of it

I can only hope that they use less and less CGI as the movies go on

Name: Anonymous 2012-06-04 11:00

>>276 why is the opening so obviously copied from the first original anime movie?

Name: Anonymous 2012-06-04 11:02

>>276 seriously is that all they could come up with after all these years?? Just putting the same opening into the new movies, only with the difference that now, people have smartphones and twitter?!

Name: Anonymous 2012-06-04 11:04

But whatever, it had good sakuga, I think Tetuya Takeuchi did those.
