4chan has lately become too popular, and with popularity comes a whole horde of kids looking to be cool, wearing Fawkes masks, making death threats in the name of Anonymous on YouTube, protesting against racism, pedophilia and generally the diversity that makes 4chan 4chan, posting Minecraft servers, and generally being too immature even by /b/ standards.
However, it is actually stated in 4chans rules, that 4chan is a site for people 18 years old or above, and that minors must leave immediately.
My strategy is that we simply assume that everyone on 4chan is 18 years old, and act accordingly. This means lots and lots of graphic cybersex on /b/, sometimes where one party roleplays a little 10 year old boy who loves to seduce his dad or an older man into the best sex ever.
4chans rules frees us from any legal responsibility if a boy would become aroused by it and start to jerk off in the middle of school, or want to have cybersex with us, and nobody has the right to whine about it either (unless they've somehow outlawed pedo stories). Just don't be tempted to post CP images in these threads, and we'll be able to chemo away any kids, and make 4chan unpopular again.

I think you've misinterpreted what "thinking they're adults" means. 18 year olds are prohibited from being on 4chan, because 4chan is a place where grownups do things unsuitable for minors. If a 10 year old boy goes here anyway, and silently witnesses something that he's not supposed to, then who is really at fault? He chose to ignore the rules.
So far I've only heard one single case of 4chan mod banning anyone because of written obscenity, and that was somebody who wrote stories about how he was going to go for it with an actual kid that he took care of, while looking for 4chans approval, so that wasn't as much a case of obscenity, as it was preventing an actual case of sex with a minor. We'll be fine if we stick to hypothetical scenarios, at least until m00t declares otherwise.

I had an idea a few days ago.
What if we changed all the rules on 4chan, like 'noko' and whatnot. Even create new challenges. like the standard setting could be yotsuba-x, and no one can see anything but pictures of cats (or something equally obviously gay) and people have to find yotsuba b on the page to even see 4chan. Other rules would be cool to but im not very smart enough to think of them.
Moot could also parle the whole thing with 2012 somehow and put an end the .. blah blah blah. you get it and if you don't just think about 2012 and the end of old 4chan and we could all call ourselves the mayans.
Contribution is important because it is what drives this website. If we didn't have a dedicated pool of users who frequently contribute, we'd be yet another stagnant run of the mill forum. But we aren't. By having an increasing number of diverse and quality contributors, 4chan becomes more unique, interesting, and enjoyable to use.

Because you group yourself into that same mentality. The bullshit that >>34 posted are myths that have permeated throughout the centuries (in Internet equivalent time) and are presented as indisputable "facts". Sort of like the bible. Encyclopedia Dramatica became 4chan's "unofficial bible", and it shows its reliability.
The only thing I agree with is that lack of moderation and explosive popularity have degenerated the quality of the site to the level that it is today. Being a victim of its own success and heavy lack of moderation eventually brought it down. The only part of the site that can be realistically salvaged is world4ch (these textboards), hosted on a completely separated site, completely de-merged from 4chan, and properly moderated ("proper" in this case meaning not zealously and not irrationally), which action will most likely never be taken upon to do so.
