Christianity is the worst religion for civilization, since redemption is dependent upon faith, rather than good works, and a lifetime of wickedness can be redeemed by a death-bed conversion.

Christianity is the worst religion in the world. It rests on the doctrine of redemption through substitutionary sacrifice which is intellectually contemptible and morally outrageous.

Western Civilization = the greatest civilization in history and Christianity is its religion. There have been no great civilizations without widespread religion or deity worship.

western civilization achieved its greatest moments before christianity and when it disregarded christianity.
Religion itself is the worst religion. Religion itself is iconic FAIL. The religitards have to FIRST BRING ANY EVIDENCE whatsoever to the table, before ever being allowed to speak on the topic.

Joseph Smith said he had IRREFUTABLE PROOF and even had witnesses
>>12 Present this IRREFUTABLE PROOF. I have IRREFUTABLE PROOF that Humans launched space rockets. Go to fucking Florida and see the launches for yourself. That proves that proof can be stored somewhere where a person can check it out for themselves. So, where did Joseph Smith keep his IRREFUTABLE PROOF? Hint: He didn't keep it anywhere, since it DIDN'T FUCKING EXIST. Smith was just another RELIGITARD who couldn't prove his demented religious fuckheadedness.
Religious discussion is not science, nor is philosophy. Stop posting it here. Use some other board.

Theology is a philosophical study, not Science. It's basically otherwise smart people talking about nonsensical bullshit and trying to make sense of it. There is no experimentation, prediction, falsifiability, etc. The fact that you don't know the difference proves that you don't know SHIT about Science OR Theology.
Actually, for proof to exist, one would actually have to reveal evidence of the happening, or be present at the exact time of activity. Any reporting, texting, images or the like are mere folk tales until true research is done. Yes, that means get out from behind the damned computer and do some research...outside of your bedroom...no, outside of your house...ok, just forget about it, jeez.
Christianity isn't alone in this. See pure land Buddhism for instance. Also, with so many doctrines that can (de)emphasized by whomever is running the church or group or commune or whatever the fuck, you'd have to evaluate every single group on its own merits.
OR you could forget about this shit and go back to SCIENCE!

I believe the scientific "side" of theology is known as theosophy.

Oh my GOD! You guys are dense as all hell! You think that Christianity or Catholicism is to blame for the atrocities? No, those are just ideas, ideas (inanimate and intangible) don't kill tangible and animate human beings, people kill people! Take on someone else's idea as your own is at your own peril from that misinterpretation of the basic human conditions come out and destroys the non-believers. The sad state of the human condition is that we don't want to see the simple truths, only the perceived truths that are complex lies with a little bit of truth. It is my firm belief that if we understand this about ourselves we will understand this about other people and thus will gain a greater appreciation and compassion of the relative flexibilities of human nature. This is the basis of my faith. So that it remains flexible, maintains the ability for change and alteration toward communication and cooperation, to perform tasks that include the facilitation of taking care of our physiological needs along with our want of transcendence. Transcendence will not exist until we perform the deeds based from the understandings of what the ego is to us as humans. Human thought is potential, memories are of the tangible past within an intangible framework, the future is potential the present moment the only part that is observable everything else remains as conjecture and speculation from every person's point of view. It will only be true to the person who observes directly. The same goes for belief and faith. You can't fight ignorance you will only end up just as smart. In order to teach one must be willing to learn and be empty of all knowledge. Every instance is seperate, later through imagination, rationalization, reasoning and science we can begin to understand that everything is interconnected and coallesce with each other. There can be no faith without consequence; there can be no science without belief. They are two sides of the same coin, sacrifice one for the other and loose the coin; take advantage of both and take the coin as your own. Profits and Gains, little by little, communication and cooperation, Point of Origin with measurements and belief gets you the ability to progress or regress according to your faith. And everything within the whole of existence and intangibility supports any faith you wish as everything has the potential for anything given time and opportunity. Please, don't take me at my word, perform your experiments, and conjectures and imaginations and rationalizations, but utilize this as a point of reference and see how it applies. Whether it does or doesn't or is completely fruitless will only work to support your faith and your thirst for scientific discovery from observation. Thank you again for your time.
Discussing the battle against a Muslim warlord in Somalia, [ Lt. Gen. William G. "Jerry" Boykin, the new deputy undersecretary of Defense for intelligence] told another audience, "I knew my God was bigger than his. I knew that my God was a real God and his was an idol."
"We in the army of God, in the house of God, kingdom of God have been raised for such a time as this," Boykin said last year.
On at least one occasion, in Sandy, Ore., in June, Boykin said of President Bush: "He's in the White House because God put him there."

I should thank you rEDcREAM you really know how to provide us with valuable ammunitions in your defeat, but don't worry it'll all be over soon. Just keep that ammo comin'. :P

The problem of all this religifaggotry is that it will NOT all be over soon. The world is descending into even MOAR religious foolishness. Morons like you are using the Internet to spread more disinformation and stupidity about that wholly disproven thing called "religion". The franchise of rationality is NOT expanding. It's contracting, and will lead the world into a new Dark Ages.
The more foolish we become the more foolish our actions the more foolishly, expediantly, geometrically, and exponentially we perish in the flashfire of flying time. This WILL BE OVER SOON, I would say December 21, 2012, my birthday, and the last day on the Mayan calendar. I would venture a guess at a global-ecological war over every idea ever thought and we won't stop until we destroy the very ground we live and thrive upon. We are doomed, that's only about 3 1/2 years away what can we possibly achieve in 3 1/2 years time so we will be able to surpass our own levels of stupidity and promote longevity of our planet and peoples? Nothing, so just keep on sitting behind the computer screens and watch the world come to a firey briney end. ps. I'll see you all in the afterlife. Of course, we'll destroy that too if we get a chance.

The problem isn't so much the ideologies themselves, but the fact that people can abuse them easily. It is much harder to commit most of the atrocities attributed to religion, communism, "human rights", etc in the absence of some sort of ideological framework.
Flexibility is important, but is antithetical to fundamentalism.

You keep referring to RedCream's defeat, and yet I fail to see his defeat in even the far future. How do you define defeat? His admission of defeat? His decision to be an hero? Unless you disable his internet access, he can continue posting here indefinitely, and "give you more ammo".

When the western world descends into the dark ages, our Chink empire shall rise once again. The best part is, we don't have to do anything. *maniacal laughter*

Last I recall, the Mayan calendar doesn't really "end". It just wraps around. I doubt that the world will end that quickly, though I think it will end eventually.
>>34
Correct. The Mayan calendar doesn't "end" in 2012. It just begins a new major era ("b'ak'tun") in their system, the Long Count.

Christianity and America are two evils that go hand-in-hand.
I'm not refusing to see any truth. I believe God exists I just don't believe in that "Jesus died for our sins and saved us" story. People went to heaven or hell before Jesus and go to heaven or hell after Jesus, he did nothing other then steal parts of Judaism and Buddhism to create his own religion.

Where's the evidence for the existence of this "god" that you claim? Furthermore, where's the evidence for the existence of these "heaven" and "hell" places?
