I don't buy it. I mean that would be like 40% of the Jewish population and the Jews produce many extremely succesful/notable people so why can't I name a famous Jew that died in gas chambers? Anne Frank doesn't count because she was famous only because of her writings about the Holocaust (and she died of Syphilis anyway). Not denying the Holocaust here, just the numbers.

Almost everything (gassing mythology) about the Holocheese is ridiculous. The only thing that makes some sense are the Einsatzgruppen shootings, but even these have half of the death toll being centred around 3-4 frivolously short documents (that have some shit that was probably retyped like "Juden executiert: 300k" in an irrelevant area and True Believers hold that this is all the proof they need, sigh -- no mass graves, no traces just a single document magically accounting for 300k deaths of human beings) that make no sense, are written like Haiku poems and are of a dubious origin. The other half is somewhat well documented, but one must note that Jews engaged in terrorist acts against the Axis and suspected partisans were killed, because pretty much anything went on the Eastern Front. They kind of leave that part out of history books.

Open up any history textbook.  Whose suffering during WW2 do they emphasize the most?  Hell, even I know the 6 million number, but had to look up the others on wikipedia.

I am personally neutral about the Jews, but I am somewhat irritated that those who suffered the most in WW2 are not getting any credit.

I don't know the errors associated with those numbers, but I'm reasonably confident that the numbers weren't inflated that much.  Are you going to tell me that the Soviet numbers were also inflated, and not all due to Nazi Germany?

Japan was ready to surrender even before the bombs were dropped; they only insisted upon their silly condition of protecting their emperor (who got protection anyway).  Even if they didn't surrender, the Soviet Union was about to join the fighting.

Einstein's only contribution to the bomb was writing a letter to Roosevelt.  Why is it relevant that they're both Jews?  I never said anything bad about Jews.

Um... Yeah retreating troops were shot by Russian officers. Ukrainian nationals that fought the Germans were also silenced by Moscow and it's just easier to say that the fascists killed them all. Same goes with friendly fire from artillery any aerial bombing.

Very true that the atomic bomb didn't really stop the war, but the rational for dropping them is that it ended sooner, this may or may not be true.
With other bombing raids with many smaller bombs we killed and equivalent amount of people it wouldn't have been long either way.

The point really is that in many cases the jews were non combatants or even German citizens. And a very good percentage of the total population was wiped of the earth.

Even if the numbers are inflated, I don't care. The reason why we tell the story to kids in history class is so they can see what can happen with hate and scapegoat-ism unchecked so history is less likely to repeat.
Has this been end been preformed perfectly or even decently, Heavens no.
Has the plight of other persecuted groups, like the gypsies, that lost an even greater percentage of population then the jews been overlooked? Hell yes.
