I don't buy it. I mean that would be like 40% of the Jewish population and the Jews produce many extremely succesful/notable people so why can't I name a famous Jew that died in gas chambers? Anne Frank doesn't count because she was famous only because of her writings about the Holocaust (and she died of Syphilis anyway). Not denying the Holocaust here, just the numbers.

Open up any history textbook.  Whose suffering during WW2 do they emphasize the most?  Hell, even I know the 6 million number, but had to look up the others on wikipedia.

I am personally neutral about the Jews, but I am somewhat irritated that those who suffered the most in WW2 are not getting any credit.
