As a computational complexity theorist, I can confirm that it is possible to crack any hash whose output is less than or equal to 2048 bits in O(1). Or, put more succinctly, ( ≖‿≖).

Let's see.

1. Input Hash to crack S.
2. Enumerate the set of all strings as the list L.
3. Compute the SHA-2048 of the current string in L, as hash H.
4. If H matches S, then return H.
5. Otherwise, proceed to the next element of L and repeat from step 3.

I did. It says:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantum_superposition
if a physical system may be in one of many configurations — arrangements of particles or fields — then the most general state is a combination of all of these possibilities
So basically a "physical system" has a number of parallel processor, result of which is folded to a single value, like with Lisp's REDUCE function.

Wikipedia is very vague source of information.

Quantum is just a buzzword nowadays. Modern machines that utilize so called quantum processes, are simply using qubits instead of electrons. Yes it is many fold faster (Google bought a server recently using them), however first these systems need to be running at 0K (yes absolute ZERO kelvin), as even slight temp changes causes the sub-atomic particles to gain energy hence change state, hence incorrect results when reading the qubit.

True quantum computers will come about when quantum entanglement is utilized. That will be the day when no current hash is uncrackable. However that being said, by that time, prime numbers will of reached billions of digits as well due to powerful machines. Thus even quantum processes will have trouble dealing with numbers that large in encryption. Even though entanglement theoretically transmits data faster than light, that's not quite true as nothing is actually sent. But it is not instant. As data must still be read, hence it is not an infinite speed, as the act of reading will introduce a time differential.

So when you read on another sites about FTL travel, and 0s process calculations, they are wrong. I have read journal articles in Nature too about similar things, so much bullshit, I am only 21 with a Physics degree and I even I can say these professors are chatting our of their arses.

In fact, the first pregnancy was not intentional; I was not living a lifestyle that was likely to lead to reproduction.  However, I like kids, and I can't help but think that abortion is murder.  Saying abortion isn't murder is like saying that if a baby is inside a bag, it doesn't exist.  It doesn't really matter that the bag is made out of a human being.  The rights of the parent shouldn't enter into it any more than they should after the baby is born.

Also, the structure of the human mind is such that once you have children, you prefer to have (more) children, and you will not abandon them.  There are exceptions of course, but I have no regrets.  That is the product of biology I am sure, but so is the fact that it doesn't bother me.  The most desperate person on earth is the woman in her late 30s with no children (I'm a man, but I think the men likely just hide it better).

An interesting side effect of parenthood is that I am fearful and squeamish about many things, whereas before I was rarely afraid of anything.  I did not expect it to affect me that way, but the instinct to feed one's offspring is overpowering, and has in my case led to a stronger instinct for self-preservation.

Natality is also murder, it just takes a lot longer. But eventually and inevitably the child dies, possibly after leading an unhappy life in the overpopulated world you helped create. Also, a 2 month foetus has neither sapience nor sentience, so I don't see why it should get any more rights than the average parasitic organism. Also, shitting more babies in our overpopulated world is irresponsible and harmful.

That is the product of biology I am sure, but so is the fact that it doesn't bother me.
So is having sexual intercourse (which, by the way, does not imply penetrative sex) for pleasure.

The most desperate person on earth is the woman in her late 30s with no children (I'm a man, but I think the men likely just hide it better).
Not really; if most (over 95%) of people have, to varying degrees, a biologically-induced psychological need for having children (which is terrible news for mother Earth, by the way), then an even larger amount of desperation befalls the one who does not want children, for they will have a very hard time finding a partner with the same preference.

Aside from obvious chemical imbalances, personality isn't genetic. If a kid is born from biological parents with a certain personality trait but is raised in a family that has the opposite trait, they are very likely to inherit the trait of the latter. In other words, idiots should refrain from raising children, and non-idiots should adopt (if they really want to have children). Which makes sense.

However, thanks to the Dunning-Kruger, what we would end up with in practice is that people who would have been good parents underestimate themselves, while idiots think they're really great and decide to adopt/procreate.

Fuck I hate humans.

The last bastion of privacy is the fact that nobody can get inside your head. Every sentient being was always guaranteed its consciousness to be only its own and not accessible to any entity (perhaps besides deities, if you take religious views into account). If an interface is created which would allow to reduce the mind of a person to a set of digital data, this would be the end of that person as a human being, and probably the end of humanity if it were implemented en masse.

Option 1: Once you're dead, you're dead. Forever. It's literally the end of you. You cease to exist. Perhaps you really made sure of it by shooting yourself in the head to prevent scanning.
Option 2: Once you're dead, your brain gets scanned and you violently regain consciousness inside a computer (possibly against your will, thanks to anti-euthanasia groups and christfags). You must pay for your own electricity and computing time lease (though you can't afford a full backup), so you must work a shitty corporate job. The manager not only supervises your activities, but also your thoughts. If you run out of money, you are evicted from your computer space, a side effect of which is immediate death. But that's just everyday life in a free capitalist world, right? The virtual world (socioeconomically) looks a lot like the movie In Time. Your main way of spending your free time (something you do not have a lot of) is running a program that simulates dopamine release (which is, thanks to politicians and christfags, illegal). The computer you run on almost certainly has backdoors from both your government and the company you work for, and you are under constant surveillance. In between shots of virtual meth you realize how much you hate what you've become and regret insulting all those neckbearded socialist who had advocated for software freedom so many years ago.
Option 3: Once you're dead, your brain gets scanned and you suddenly regain consciousness inside a computer (but only if you agreed to it). The computer is supplied by your e-life insurance policy, and you had access to it before you actually died (so you could check that it is, indeed, clean of backdoors). Since most people preferred to just die (something about being uncomfortable with the idea of not having a biological body) and have eventually realized that overpopulation is a serious problem for both humanity and the environment, the Earth population is just a few dozen millions plus twice as many ``computerized people''. Since there are so few people, natural resources are abundant and there is enough energy and matter for everyone to live comfortably, whether virtual or not. After a few thousands of years of virtual time (i.e. a few years of real time), a team of physicists discovered how to construct space elevators, as well as how to obtain exotic matter to construct an Alcubierre drive. The news article says they'll be ready to start launching whoever wants to go into space in maximum five years. They're also working on being able to send of biological people into space, but that's harder since they're so fragile and have so many requirements, so it might take another twenty years or so. Since you don't want to wait, you execute sleep(157788000) and wake up just in time. You (the one in the spaceship) start exploring the galaxy. You drop off backups of yourself as well as flight plan and path updates every once in a while. You wander around aimlessly, exploring star system after star system. "Frank Drake was full of shit", you think to yourself, though you've only checked a tiny fraction of the galaxy. Finally you return to Earth (after a hundred thousand real time years) to discover that humans have now spread to and colonized many of the neighbouring star systems. A good idea, since there have been quite a number of deadly cataclysms on Earth in the meantime. You are pleased to find out that mind uploading can now be performed non-destructively, and that mind downloading and body replication are also possible (the mechanics of which are indistinguishable from wizardry). Other people have been lucky enough to meet with aliens who have also gotten to about the same stage. In particular, one species originates from a planet called The Land of Lisp, and their computer science skills are literally magic.

The options are ordered by probability, most likely first.

When the singularity happens (still waiting, Kurzweil and Kaku), I'm going simulate my own private universe where I am a cute little witch and wear cute Touhou dresses, but everyone else is normal. I'll give them hope, then crush their dreams right in front of them, keeping them in perpetual misery. I'll curse them with ambitions, but make those ambitions impossible to fulfill. I'll give them a good life, then smash them right in the middle, just to give them a taste of the happiness that they never have. I'll delude them into thinking that they are free, then reveal to them that they are only my slaves. I'll torture and kill them, just to resurrect them and do it again, until their mind is completely broken and there is no shreds of a human left in them, then discard them and move on to the next victim. I'll make Hell, and condemn those who resent my evil ways to eternal agony. I'll teach them concepts of justice just sneer in their faces as they try to reconcile my words with my actions. I'll reward those who emulate me with riches and power, and punish those who don't with starvation, sickness, and the death of those around them. I'll make them toil for their entire lives to build monuments to my vanity. I'll give them brief reprieves of love and contentment, then kill off everything they loved and leave them wondering what they did wrong.

This will be a very fun and very intellectual game -- I am very much looking forward to it.

What about one time pads for encryption, aren't those safe from infinite computing power if cryptographically secure random number generation is used?
