Whatever happened to just opening a text editor and starting with <html><head><title>My Web Page Title</title></head><body>... ?

All that extra cruft doesn't save time, it just makes things take longer in some way so the "web developers" can charge more.

As someone who does full stack web design and development, I agree. I write tailored code for every website I produce, I have a repository of methods that I can re-use to save time.

I hate these gigantic cock guzzling frameworks everyone uses. All you need is HTML/CSS/Your favorite server language/Your favorite DB software/safe programming practices.

Fuck javascript

JavaScript is still useful in moderation.

The whole concept of "web application" seems to imply something of like complexity as a desktop application and a "do everything in JS" mentality, when instead it should be treated as an extension language for minor things. This is the sort of stupidity JS creates:

And don't get me started on those blogs that somehow require JS enabled to display static text.

You sound like a faggot, and a poor faggot with no business sense at that. You should rewrite code endlessly to drive up the billable hours, and make it full of bugs so that the `customer' can pay you to fix them later. If you don't go over at least two deadlines and be at least 50% over-budget then you are doing it wrong.

With that you loose clients, this works better:

Just sell them the same crap again with a different template, charge them double, because they want it fast. Give them a support option, so they pay you the whole year too. Host it on your server, if they start to be unwilling to pay. You can black it out.

Tell them what they want. Don't ask them.

And everytime the asshole calls you it is an another quarter of an hour there, at least. Calling is money. If you watch porn during work time, it is because you need to relieve stress. No reason to stop the time.

Which is as it should be. As >>12,14 point out, relying on JS to do everything is a great way to make your web page variably unusable to everyone.

Don't treat them like shit and you won't lose them. Don't tell them you're late because you went on an 72 hour CP and crystal meth binge, sell them on some new shit with rounded corners.
