Hey guys who wants to be on a code team?
Coding by yourself is fun, and can get small things done.
But on a team its awesome, people to talk to, every finishes
things like they're nothing, massive projects completed in no
time, and if the project gets well known, then everyone gets
credit, and gets their name out. What is there to lose?
maybe you'll rage at some idiot that could possible get
on the team some how, but thats just lawls. COME ON GUYS!

Name: Anonymous 2013-03-13 20:49

Ok. I write Symta. What team should I join?

I can also code Self and a little Factor, but point-free is really confusing.

Name: Anonymous 2013-03-13 21:05

I can code C, FIOC and a bit of Scheme. What do you want to do?

Name: Anonymous 2013-03-13 21:08

maybe you'll rage at some idiot that could possible get
on the team some how, but thats just lawls.
I think we've found that idiot.

My favs are javascript, html, css, php
but i also know a tad C, python, lua, (and java but i really dislike it) and i take a game maker class
any ideas on what we should make first tho?

Please take a look at yourself in the mirror. Observe every detail of you very carefully. Breathe deeply and start pondering why you're living at this instant.

Make a full sexp browser, one that taks all web standard frameworks and refactors them into sexp. Everything would be Scheme. Javascript will get converted (and corrected) to Scheme. Flash will get converted (and corrected) to Scheme. PDF, CSS, XML, HTML, everything, you name it and it will run as Scheme if supported. Making a preprocessor for all that would be enough to warrant a team's work and everyone could make use of their web2.0 enterprise knowledge. Or pick whatever language that everyone can work in, but Scheme should be the most widely known acceptable language around here.

I could get the hang out of, but where could we start,
I always forget about lisp/scheme. can scheme handle processes/threads/windows/audio/graphics ? should we start off making the handlers?

Name: Anonymous 2013-03-13 23:04

>>14
Make a full sexp browser
YES, YES, YES!

But converting everything to Scheme is simply too stupid. Get designing new web standards instead of reusing the shitty ones available.

Name: Anonymous 2013-03-13 23:07

1) what is sexp
b) what do you propose should be the new standards?

Name: Anonymous 2013-03-13 23:13

>>18
1) what is sexp
Back to /g/, please.

Name: Anonymous 2013-03-14 0:35

>>17
The converting is to assimilate them and ultimately make them useless/a formality (set-mode-XML) and people will eventually skip the middle man and just write in sexps like they should.

>>16
C doesn't exactly meet the standard for what you want high level-wise, and the whole purpose really is provide an alternative to browsers written in sepples that run disgusting lovecraftian security compromising horrors such as javascript, java, and flash (which is a combo that gives people enough rope to hang other people with).
Brin, Zuckerberg, Eich, Guido, Leah, and all the corner rounders of the world will be sucking down parens if I have my way. FIOC would become "that SICP language that nobody uses or learns except when they take 6.001 at MIT." Web2.0 would be known as the dark web ages and people would laugh at the thought of "people actually wrote PHP/Python/JS for serious applications."

Name: Anonymous 2013-03-14 4:12

Ok then lets start, where should we share code?

Name: Anonymous 2013-03-14 4:25

≥ But on a team its awesome,
I'm not convinced.
≥ people to talk to,
I'm out.
≥ every finishes things like they're nothing,
Even driven by deadlines and money this doesn't happen!
≥ massive projects completed in no time,
As exemplified by...?
≥ and if the project gets well known, then everyone gets credit, and gets their name out.
A false condition can imply anything.

Ow. Okay, you've convinced me you need named parameters. Otherwise you'll have a bloody mess when you want to add event handlers on your form controls.

Name: Anonymous 2013-03-17 18:38

>>118
Adding event handlers should be done in the script file, not in the markup.

using styling instead but the way you import is fine
Also we are getting rid of flash, flash can get the fuck out of here. adobe is such a bs company like apple

Name: Anonymous 2013-03-17 21:21

You should redefine CSS as well. It's a pile of shit.

Name: Anonymous 2013-03-17 21:22

The idea in >>120 is that the client defines styles themselves.

So what you're saying is, you don't know anything about the history of web technologies, and you want to reverse a bunch of critical compromises because the alternative appeals to you on aesthetic grounds.

Are you a Gnome developer or something?

All flash files would be prepocessed to the equivalent of a flash virtual machine run in Scheme, or Symta if no one but Nikita can do it. pfd would naturally be easier to abstract away into oblivion, and I really don't even fucking know why anyone uses it ever other than the affects of ruthless marketing to the shameless, aloof, and impressional managerial equivalent of corner rounders.

Safer than actually installing and running any adobe/sun software.

photoshop is crap
sun.. is blinding crap

What compromises? The content is important, not the presentation. I want my desktop applications to have a uniform look, not all vying for my attention with a bunch of round corners or scrolling banners. Why the fuck would that be a good idea for the web?

You are beyond retarded. HIBT?

You have, it's a shill doing damage control.

Name: Anonymous 2013-03-19 22:46

Actually I know this is bad, but tbh I like what 132 is saying
basically what android does, provide, and let them decide.
make everything look the same unless the programmer
really really really wants to be a penis about it

so what where you guys talking about earlier with the project manager or w.e. can we have the link?

Name: Anonymous 2013-03-20 19:26

>>134
Why is that bad? Everywhere apart from the WWW knows it's bad practice to combine content and presentation, let alone for content to dictate presentation.
