I think people like you don't understand programming. A programming language is only the hammer we use to program. It is arbitrary. A good programmer can build a program in every paradigm. He can use imperative, object-oriented, functional, logic, stack based, concatenative, data flow, aspect oriented and a couple more.  He should be able to understand it all. Be able to use it.

Therefore you are a weak programmer. You are just a pussy trying to hide your incompetence by implicitly saying you belong in the real programmers category. But real programmers don't really care about the hammer. They can use every hammer. Of course they have preferences. In the real world, they have to use, what there is. Sometimes a existing project is written in Python. Simply demanding to be able to write in C is a sure sign of delusions. You won't get payed for that attitude.

It is like you say: Oh I have got this toolbox, but I only want to use a screwdriver to build a house. It is retarded.

Aah, you ruined it! Can't have reasoning in a language pissing match! Still, you can't deny that there are certain languages that you prefer when you just want to hack something together, or is houses all you build?

Different languages for different purposes, sure, but how large is your hobby domain, really? Does it benefit from several languages, or is one enough, and is there really none of them that you like better than others?

Not every language deserves its place and popularity, but have had designers and users that were misguided. A DSL should not escape its domain.

How many applications have been written in C + Scheme?

Apparently you don't know what Perl is.

Seconded. Those are the only languages I use.

I can't really think of any, but I know there are C programs that use guile for a plugin system. I mostly use the chicken implementation of scheme in the same way that others would use bash, python, or perl, and I use C for writing larger, portable programs.
