I'm just a programmer with knowledge of C and Perl and all that other stuff that everyone knows (XML, SQL, Office etc etc)

What can i do?

Please note: I WILL NO DO JAVA. I HATE JAVA, EVEN IF I NEVER  HAVE USED IT. I KNOW IT SUCKS

Try working your way up from the bottom like everyone does instead of being a pansy ass that feels your that you are somehow special and entitled to $72k/year with no experience to show for it.

Junior software developer salary for those having an experience of less than two years can be in the range of USD 35,000 to USD 45,000 per year.

You want the bucks? Show that you are capable and earn your keep, son.

Fucking idiot.

I do have years of experience. In fact, my $2000/month are considered a very good salary in my country.

But, i was wondering... i know there are very powerful (and annoying) worker syndicates in the US. Is there any for developers?

Maybe the "syndicate" factor has to do a little with those 72000/year salaries.

The are no filthy unions for tech people, thank God.

Tech sector work is a meritocracy (as much as anything is). If you are good and work hard you will get you rewards in due time.

A bit of advice, my "friend":

Stay in your home country, we don't like your kind stealing our jobs. Especially not the way the economy is these days.

I would never leave my country, faggot. Enjoy your fascist state

Good, you stay where you belong, tar baby.

And, by the way, no one needs to go to your country to steal your jobs. India does a very good job at that.

I make about that amount doing pretty simple programming.
Having a good education improves your salary a lot, at least in places where there's demand for developers.

I used to think the same thing. I recently started learning it so I could write Android apps. It's not that bad. It's a lot better than C++ and in some ways better than C.

The lack of a standard preprocessor or macro system makes it worthless, like many other `good' languages.

Name: Anonymous 2011-10-05 19:10

Well, it's good for making Android apps.

It's basically the same thing, made by the same guy, but 10 years later. So he got a little bit of his shit right.

there is no ladder for us because engineers can be judged on results. you just have to work in a place where they value them or leave until you do.

Name: Anonymous 2011-10-06 1:37

That's the only ladder there is these days. Your point is?

Highly unlikely you were making that kinda dough as a pre-pubescent squib. I'm calling lies.

He could be "working" in the business of his family. You know, rich parents want his kid to be familar with business from a young age.

Get some quantitative math skills and basic knowledge of financial exchanges. Work for said exchanges or hedgefunds (work on the IT side, no need to risk being a trader for just 72K a year).

Name: Anonymous 2011-10-06 4:16

Become an Oracle DB admin and you can pretty much set your own salary.
