firefox 5 is out, bitches

Name: where is the 4chan extension? 2011-06-22 15:26

hey guise firefox 5 is out

so what 4chan addons are out there?

the 'official' addon seems to be far outdated:
4chan Firefox Extension 0.4.5.15 from http://www.4chan.org/tools/

and even the tweaked version for firefox 4 ( http://4chan.wrathfilledhate.net/menu/4chan.v0.4.5.16.xpi ) i read about here some time ago sucks - much slower than chrome's 4chan plus

i think about writing one myself, that incorporates all the features of chrome's 4chan plus, and something more i think usefull.
and it even seems easier than ever before with the new addon builder:
https://addons.mozilla.org/de/developers/builder

tl;dr firefox 5 4chan addon is needed

There are plenty of scripts that work for browsers out there. e.g. Dollchan script.

Name: Anonymous 2011-06-22 15:51

that's a point

why not combining some user-scripts instead of writing a whole addon

Riding my firecock through wide grassy planes and deep forests in pursuit of righting the wrong and wronging the right. Only at a small scenic clearing in the dark of a starless night, we rest for a few hours. At the dawn of the day we must travel on. Advancing toward our destiny. My firecock and I.

4chan X is outdated aswell. You still can't filter threads.

Name: Anonymous 2011-06-22 21:18

so what. Opera is still the best.

Firefox?  It still exists?

I use Chrome.  I don't even know what version my browser is using, because I don't have to.  It upgrades automatically.

In America, only old people use Firefox.

I quite enjoy Noscript, and the cookie management extensions that you can get for FF. Chromium still doesn't support these things in this day. I'm also not bothered to invest anything to get these features into Chromium.

Name: Anonymous 2011-06-23 3:39

Chromium can disable plugins, popups, scripts and images out of the box.
There is advanced cookie management plugins for it too.

Can it do per-domain script blocking?

Does it have a progress bar for uploads?

How does it store passwords?

I need a convenient way to permanently and temporarily add domains to a whitelist and blacklist for their scripts and their cookies. While Chromium does have whitelists and blacklists, it's not convenient to change a domain's script and cookie status on a temporary basis.

ATM, I'm using FF4 as my main browser and I'm using Chromium for sites that doesn't work well with the FF extensions.

Can't someone just update the already existing 4chan extension script to be compatible with FF5?

yes.

Does it have a progress bar for uploads?
no, but it shows the percentage in the status bar, which is more useful than a progress bar.

How does it store passwords?

1) Download v0.4.5.16 from the link above.
2) Open it with Archive Manager/ WinZip or whatever.
3) Edit "install.rdf" - find the parameter "maxVersion", and change it from 4.2 to some number higher than what you have (I went with 6.2)
4) Save your modified version of the XPI, install it, and...  Profit!
