1)take a beginning programming class, learn scheme
2)find out that scheme is a simplified lisp whos only contribution to the lisp family is lexical scoping, introduced to lisp 15 years after lexical scoping was invented in algol
3)learn common lisp so you can be a professional programmer

Setting aside that 2 is just a load of bullshit, if Common Lisp had been standardised even a few years earlier it would still have dynamic scoping. (for "efficiency" reasons)
