Anime/Manga Python Tool

Name: Anonymous 2009-09-16 11:03

Guys? I need somehow who can program me the following tool preferably in Python

- Watches several different RSS Feeds (extendable)
- If a combination of given cinditions is found, e.g: "Bleach" 123 *.torrent the program starts a certain action. (In this example download a torrent). For megaupload.com/* links start JDownloader etc.
- If I start watching an Anime Episode or Manga Episode in SMPplayer/Comix I want some kinda daemon regex the caption of the windows and increate the episode / chapter counter for the given anime/manga. ("Bleach" 124).

I want that in 3 hours.

kkthxbye

I can do that in PHP.

Do it. (Also it should run on Linux/cross-platform.)

Name: Anonymous 2009-09-16 11:17

Jesus Fucking Christ, any half-decent torrent program does that already.

What's up with all the hostility?  I'm sure every /prog/ user worth his weight in salt has had the idea to write something like this, but gave up when he realized the massive scale of it.

Name: Anonymous 2009-09-16 12:39

A lot of torrent clients already do this, and most people know how to get it working. Weeaboos should already know that there's servers out there that do just that and serve the content on http or irc, with minimal to no interaction from the administration except to setup the filters. Given that OP is interested in Bleach(likely a casual normalfag anime watcher), he probably has no idea that he's asking people to reinvent a wheel which has already been invented many times before.

Actually I just wanted to troll a bit, to be honest, that is.

I'm not a casual watcher, I watched quite some shit in my time and am still watching - probably not the biggest hardcore anime fan you can imagine but I'm not purely a Bleach/Naruto/One Piece-fag.

I'm currently reading 58 of them, finished 7 and dropped or stopped reading 27 at some point.

I'm using TiddlyWiki (http://tiddlywiki.com/) to manage my collection. For all Anime titles I've got an entry which looks like this
Livestream:
<Livestreams>

Direkt Download:
<Some links to pages which provide direct-downloads/torrents/IRC XDCC bots>

Current Episode:
<Current Episode>

Info:
<AniDB link>

Description:
<Short description, preferably fetched from AniDB>
The Manga entries look similiar. I currently have set up one filter per Anime/Manga I have in both my TiddlyWiki - Manga.html and Anime.html -> Which amounts to 302 saved searches. Each time a new RSS Feed entry arrives it is automatically sorted into one of these saved searches and I can just take a look at them and most of them time simply drag the Megaupload link into my JDownloader folder or use IRC (http://news.is.fabolo.us - for example) to fetch the Episode from a XDCC Bot with XChat and the XDCCQ Python script which I modified for my own use.

When I start/finish/drop an Anime or Manga I also need to edit the appropriate TiddlyWiki and my RSSOwl Database.

That's why I'm searching for a completely automated way to do all that. Don't misunderstand me though, I never expected to get serious answers here in /prog/, thanks >>13-san though.

>>12
Also I can do that in Python myself in about 8 lines, but you are better off using proxies, unfortunately most of them are banned. I actually could do ALL this shit myself in Python but I'm just at a loss on how to bring structure into it which makes sense and simply asked here out of boredom.

And now, GTFO, kkthxbye.

Also lol'd at all smartasses.

The current solutions are not good enough, and I know of no torrent client that will pick out JUST the torrents you want from a feed.

Since you know about news, you should know a lot of those bots just use a rtorrent backend and a few scripts. I don't see a huge use for downloading anime from Megaupload, as you can just get it from other sources much faster, but Megaupload is still useful to some degree as its speeds can be decent, and limitations aren't too heavy. And btw, I completed or partially watched a large part of your anime list too, Mr. anime expert.

Additional download mechanisms are useful for manga, which is usually not distributed using the BitTorrent protocol.

P.S. That list is horrible and you should feel bad for having watched anything on it, I know I do.

Now, now, if you look really closely you'll see that 90% of the titles listed are very recent.  I'd say he started this shit two years ago.
