No, Mario HAD to work right the first time. As it was on ROM, if it failed, it was FUCKED FOREVER, like the "secret worlds" of Metroid. That is why console games used to be better than computer games: they had to go through much more testing before launch. Now any game can be launched FUBAR and the companies can just patch it three months later.
