I want to learn common lisp

Name: Anonymous 2008-05-30 21:30

But for fucks sake, emacs and slime, I just don't get it. I don't want to use emacs and slime.
Is there a fucking alternative for vim?

Name: Anonymous 2008-05-30 21:39

No. There's http://www.vim.org/scripts/script.php?script_id=221, but it's not remotely in the ballpark. You know why? Because vim is a shitty, shitty program with no viable (lol) means of extension. If you've really managed to convince yourself that your time is so cheap that vi-style tap-dancing is worthwhile, you know where to find M-x viper-mode. Or you can use a commercial Lisp with its IDE.

WHY ARE YOU SAD, HACKER?

Name: Anonymous 2008-05-30 22:35

>>4
BECAUSE I HAVE SEVERE PROBLEMS WITH HANDS, WRISTS, NECK, BACK THAT DO NOT ALLOW ME TO EXPERIMENT WITH EMACS, BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE A WINDOWS INSTALLATION TO PIRATE A COMMERCIAL LISP IDE, BECAUSE VIM SUCKS FOR LISP, BECAUSE ALL I WANTED WAS A LOUSY BUFFER TO MY LISP IMPLEMENTATION AND LISP INDENTATION. MY LIFE IS FALLING APART.

I want to learn common lisp
Why would you want to do that? Just lop your dick off; it'll be less painful and more productive than using Lisp.

Name: Anonymous 2008-05-30 23:40

I'm a Lisp programmer.  I, too, hate Emacs + SLIME.  It can fucking DIAF.  I want a real IDE with modern functionality, but there's too much momentum behind the old pieces of dog shit and the barrier to entry is too high for anything to seriously gain traction, it seems.

And Allegro's IDE sucks donkey dick.  Franz themselves recommend using SLIME, the shitfuckers.

If you're using eclipse 3.4, you'll need to make a dropins/ directory under the main eclipse directory and untar the file in there.

If you're running eclipse <= 3.3, untar the file to a temp directory. You should get a cusp_linux directory. Copy the contents of cusp_linux/features/ to eclipse/features and cusp_linux/plugins/ to eclipse/plugins.

Alternately you could try using their update site
http://www.paragent.com/lisp/cusp/update/

Yeah, eclipse licks balls.
