I use only C and C++ at work, and I haven't tried to convince my boss to use some other language simply because there is no reason to.

For the past two summers I've been using ASP.NET & C#, T-SQL, and a tad bit of Javascript (if that counts).
Loved it. The .NET libraries greatly increase productivity and programmer efficiency.
I didn't get far into the "improvements" that MS offers in their SQL dialect, so I can't really comment on it, specifically.
This summer I'll be using Java. Not sure which specific APIs since I haven't gotten much info on my assignment just yet. But I like Java, it compares well against .NET (as far as programmer efficiency).

They gave me a choice between PHP, Ruby and Java. Obviously PHP and Java aren't options, one lacks closures and the other one is just a bloated piece of shit. Arguably, Ruby is an even slower bloated piece of shit, but it has some redeeming qualities (it actually installs on my system, has nice syntax for closures, etc).
So I decided I'm going to do everything I can with Bourne shell scripts. That'll teach 'em haha. Sagers.

I'm not a programmer at work, though I do some programming from time to time. I've used things ranging from AutoHotKey scripts, C#, C++, and LISP to solve various problems. The last thing I wrote was a simple installation menu in wxWidgets/C++.

We use Lisp to generate code for other languages (typically Java). It's a ton easier than writing Java straight.

Perl for web stuff and C# for pretty much everything else. My boss doesn't care what language it's in as long as it works.
If the boss wasn't so determined to stick with Windows I would be using C instead of C#, but I doubt that'll ever happen... Plan9, BSD, OS X or even Linux would be better than Windows, but apparently he thinks Windows works well enough... "The server is only down about 3.5 days per month!" yeah, 11.5% downtime isn't too bad.

99.9% of that downtime is because of people who shouldn't be messing with the server (but insist on having access to it) fucking things up, like deleting "mysql.exe" because "I don't know what it is and it's using a lot of CPU".
