There will be no more Republicans

Name: Anonymous 2011-09-17 3:21

FACT: The 20-30 age range votes Democrat at a rate of 2:1.
FACT: Upon aging very few start voting Republican, as Republicans theorized they would do upon paying taxes.

Conservatism is dead. If the 20-30 age range decided the 2008 election, only 3 states would have been Republican majority (Alaska, Texas, and some minor state that doesn't matter). In the 18-22 age range 1 in 4 people have no belief in a deity; Religion is dieing with it.

All while Republicans talk of fixing this issue by becoming more open minded and tolerant, yet they still promote a ban on gay marriage, Cannabis prohibition with even greater punishments that would effect youth the most, worsening punishments for crimes primarily committed by youth (under-age drinking, drug use, misbehaving in school, etc). They are alienating the youth. All of this seems to be in a feeble attempt to create a generation of felons, with the more traditionalist Republican children making up a minority of those felons, in an attempt to rob the Democratic majority of most of their voting power.

Congress talks of taking care of the next generation, yet nearly every action they take is opposed by the next generation.

Soon, these conservatives will witness their empire crumble. Cannabis will be smoked in their face, the power of the police will be reduced, socialist policies will be passed, the Republicans will be a fringe party while the socialist party starts to field some seats in congress, the ties Religion has with the US will be severed, no more "in god we trust" or "one nation under god", the military will be drastically cut in size, textbooks used in public  schools will speak of the incompetence of the current government, gays will be married, etc.

The only drawback is that the new generation won't be conservative enough to execute the current politicians for high treason (what they like to call 'lobbying').

Republicans are quickly adopting confederate ideology. They've been states-righters for a while now but recently they've gone all out.

Look at people like Ron Paul. Contrary to popular belief Paul is not a libertarian; rather he is a confederate. He believes states should be free to do basically whatever they want while the federal government's powers are greatly limited. He wants the United States to be a confederacy of states rather than a federation.

Paul's ideas have been adopted all across the country. Did you watch the CNN / TPE debate this week? The candidates generally agree that federal power should be devolved to the states. Even Rick Perry believes other states should be free to legalize gay marriage if they like to. He flip-flopped when pressured by Christian conservatives but their influence is waning.

Over the coming decade the Republican Party will become increasingly confederate. This will attract the youth vote. Young people will move to states that favor their lifestyles. Eventually we'll have a confederacy of different states with different cultures. We're already moving this direction - a lot of people are moving from blue states to red states.

I see you use that word confederate.

Replace the word Republican with Liberal. Replace the word confederate with Nazi.

Have a nice day.

There will be no more Republicans

They said that after 2008.

I would say I am a democrat and in the early 20s, I would vote Ron Paul over Obama. I am very attracted to states mandating themselves and having their own culture/lifestyles. I feel that is moving more towards giving the people control. I also think it will promote more voter awareness if the state has more power over their everyday lives. The way this generation became interested in politics at a younger age I believe the next generation will get into it even stronger. And I think that goes hand in hand with statewide power. I just feel like with every new president, America has gone into decline a little bit more. I am not blaming Obama or even Bush. I feel like they both got dealt a shitty hand.

I also like the idea of pulling our troops and focusing on national defense. I am not proposing a complete cut of the military budget but a cut of military spending by ending foreign occupation.

Pull government out of businesses. Allow free market competition, stronger focus on education, manufacturing, research. Basically learn to depend on ourselves and to hopefully begin to pay off our debts. This will cause the dollar to become worth something which I think will cause the quality of life to improve.

Newsflash: Only 3 states would be Republican if the 20-30 age group had decided the national election.

State's rights? I'd like to see the Republicans (speaking of the majority of the Republicans) supporting Cannabis legalization in any state, because of State's rights. I'd like to see the Republicans end the subsidization of the poorer states (more often Republican) by the wealthier states (more often Democrat). I'd like to see the Republicans allow another state to set their  drinking age (they can BUT they loose 10% highway funding, and read up on what happened when some states tried it anyway, other states and the fed started making threats). I'd like to see the Republicans allow people of their states to hop on over to the nearby Democratic state and get an abortion.

You do realize that the Republicans have usually increased the size of the Federal government, right? Or that modern transportation makes, say, Abortion legality or a lower drinking age in a neighboring state practically legal in the prohibition state. State's rights will only be granted to an extent. They will not allow states anywhere near the power they had when the constitution was drafted, as it undermines their goals. Do they want gay marriage illegal in JUST their state? NO! They want it illegal nation-wide!

We will never have the state's rights envisioned by Ron Paul. Otherwise I see the Northern-Democratic states utilizing their right to secede the next time a depression hits and Texas is out of oil causing them to continue their subsidies of the poorer states during a period where they themselves are poor, or a war unpopular with Democrats is declared. And all states technically have this right, but the Republicans weren't so fond of it during the  Civil War!

Free market? We aren't competitive as a nation anymore, our service sectors are rapidly becoming moved overseas. Minimum wage and the cost of living prevent us from becoming competitive. But I suppose you want us to start working for slave-wages in factories again, that way there will be no need to export jobs. WE CANNOT BECOME SELF SUFFICIENT, EVER, IF THE ENTIRE WORLD WAS TO HAVE THE US'S STANDARD OF LIVING IT WOULD REQUIRE 5-6 MORE EARTHS WORTH OF RESOURCES, WE NEED TOO MANY OUTSIDE RESOURCES, AND OUR WEALTH WAS GAINED THROUGH TRADE AND GLOBALIZATION, FEW AMERICANS WILL ACCEPT LIFE AS A THIRD WORLD COUNTRY SO THEY CAN SAY THEY ARE 'SELF SUFFICIENT'. And FYI Education is a social program, and we can't improve it because we can't fire bad teachers due to the government being public and many states allowing teacher's unions.

Competition generates wealth, sure. Does it generate wealth in YOUR country? Yes, if the competition is IN YOUR COUNTRY. But we aren't competing within the US, we are competing with the world. Competition also takes wealth from the uncompetitive and transfers it to the competitive.

And confederate attracting the youth vote? That they can simply move to the state they like? They still need jobs, and they still have a family they may want to live near. And the youth who choose to move will probably all flock to the same few extremely liberal states. What's that going to do to the 'Confederate Republican states'? Drain them of labor and future workers. They don't appeal to the youth in any way except allowing for a state outside of their own that does appeal to the youth to be created. Can these extremely liberal states enact the youth's desired policies with this massive surplus of labor? No. Social Programs would be too costly, as the number of unemployed would be unnaturally high.

States rights have a lower priority than Abortion, Gay Marriage, and poking fun at Obama on the non-Ron Republican's list of things to do.

More job losses come from productivity than from outsourcing. As we become more efficient we need less workers.

As to the rest of your post - no one outside the lunatic fringe could have predicted the current state of the Republican Party. Things have changed a lot and they will continue to change. This is not the same party that started the Iraq War. It's not the party of Reagan. Did you watch the CNN / Tea Party Express debate? It was held in the Reagan library but Reagan wouldn't have fit in at all.

The new Republican Party is more focused on individual liberties. They're rekindling the American Dream. The idea is that with less regulations even you can start a small business and become successful. Whether Republican ideas will actually work is debatable - I personally think they won't. However these ideas are very palatable to young people. They want change and the Republican Party that is developing before our eyes promises it.

In my experience it's only attractive to youths for a bit of time.  Then they get out of college and realize that government can do good for the economy and plays a major role.  After I started studying business I moved away from libertarianism to a more moderate stance.  Our nation is only great because of the collective investments we've put into infrastructure and education.  Our economy will only improve if we keep those two things as priorities of the government.

Name: Anonymous 2011-09-21 21:46

Yet the Republicans wish to dismantle infrastructure due to it being a 'social program' and teach children fucktarded religious education. Lets teach creationism in schools, but only the Christian theory of how the world is created, sounds fair right? Nevermind that we have no fucking evidence. How about we have school prayers every morning, never-mind that a large chunk of the students aren't of a religion that does so, while not having several daily prayers facing mecca (oh, the Muslims can do it on their own but the Christians cannot)? And we can plaster the 10 commandments on everything!

Wonderful, we'll be raising children with a dark age education in no time!

Fuck the middle class! Lets remove everything the majorities of the past worked for such as standards for factory safety! It will make us more competitive! I wonder the fuck why we made those into laws to begin with? Oh but don't touch social security, not until we're dead!

But of course they don't campaign on those ideas. They mask them with language such as "the death tax" instead of "the estate tax" to make ideas sound less appealing, after all, who would walk around saying they support the death tax? They campaign on morals of which only a minority of the population holds and bashing the opposing party.

Republicans are responding to the shift in demographics against them in trying to supress voters that won't vote Republican rather than adjust themselves to the changing reality.

Yes, we know liberals already did that.

That was a nice retard rant from the far side of reality.

Welcome to decades of liberal media. That's business as usual for both parties, newfag.

Watch the Koch brothers (well two of them) and other Tea Party backers try fucking the nation over hard before it has a chance to happen.

Next fifty years will be intresting times for the US and the world. The PRC better feel lucky it has all those US debt bonds.

>Tea Party backers try fucking the nation

Cuz a balanced budget and living within you means is sooooo evil. Yet, you can't figure out why independents abandoned you.

Name: Anonymous 2011-09-22 22:22

Except the Tea Party has nothing to do with living within your means, and they lack the comprehension to understand exactly why their slash and burn philosophy in regards to budgeting is hurtful.  Tea Parties are jaded Republicans who can't let go of their core principles and lack the observation to understand that the Libertarian party adheres to the Tea Party precepts better than the Tea Party does.

Name: Anonymous 2011-09-22 22:53

>Except the Tea Party has nothing to do with living within your means, and they lack the comprehension

You're projecting whatever you want onto the Tea Party in order to make strawmen arguments. What would you know about comprehension when you have no idea what they actually believe in? That type delusion might work for you in your delusions, but you'd be laughed off the stage in a real political debate.

>slash and burn philosophy

A convenient way of demonizing the basic common sense of keeping to a budget you can afford. There are too many nations falling apart because they run up debts and didn't nothing about it. Out of control debts are a problem and there is only one solution.

>principles and lack the observation to understand that the Libertarian party adheres

Why do I see this repeating flaw in your logic in which you dictate to others that they believe.

Name: Anonymous 2011-09-23 1:48

Balancing the budget is a wonderful thing, yes. The way that they've been going about it is completely pig-headed, and the arguments for it are absolutely inane.

This is why we need a multi-party system BAD.

Have to disagree with OP (big surprise), individuals often become more conservative the older they get as they have more invested in protecting the status quo.

as they have more interest in protecting their investments.

Then the EU woke up after decades of being very stupid and realized that they had lost everything and are in free fall.

Don't change these.
