Beyond Rhetoric

So much, I try to debate people of other ideologies on the internet (usually so-called "libertarians"), but they just throw slogans. I know some smart ones exist, I haven't found them yet, though.

"Slogans: Putting the "dumb" in Freedom"

Forums and public boards are not the places where you'll find the "smart ones".

Name: Anonymous 2010-12-19 11:50

not OP
>>2 where can one find smart ones? it´s even possible to find them online? Feels like smart ones are isolated since there´s barely not a high chance to notice one

I imagine the "smart ones" would be those individuals who are political atheists, those that follow politics but don't buy into the empty rhetoric of the mainstream parties, for the US, those being the Republican and Democratic parties.

The unfortunate thing is that the parties always claim that that's what they support. It's all bullshit

Name: Anonymous 2010-12-22 15:52

"libertarians" like who Glenn beck??(Not a Libertarian) I could be wrong but believe that some use this as a label to get away from dem or rep labels. Some or most of the tea party I think now they consider themselves Libertarian. Although in my area. The Constitution Party started the tea parties but where quickly cooped by republicunts and corporate money and cheese pizza(ha-ha)

There are alot of angry americans that know they are not being represented by there politicians

The wut? you might say ...... Herp-A-Fucking-Derp

I personally Have not got a clue what I am any more!!!! Its like you try find faith in a document a document wrote 200 years ago that all may have life liberty and the pursuit of happiness That was then this is NOW!!! I don't think they imagined or could predict the present mess(I think it is anyway) we are in. I think its been corrupted by "big money(the rich" the power elite for there profit or greed or pursuit of power. It makes me sad to say it but the American experiment has failed and that my fellow Tards is easy to prove. Ever play monopoly if your smart it does not take to long to figure out who's going to win

but the rich and powerful needed us back than those where the days killing and raping Indian bitch's like a card carrying Libertarian

You write like you have a fragile flow of logic.  You never even really re-defined what "libertarian" means, if your standard definition is flawed or false like you suggested and I am interested in hearing your alternative.  You do an excellent job of conforming to the OP's expectations of a person who has nothing but slogans and buzzwords on their side.  Moreover, Monopoly the game was actually as a criticism of a strict land-value tax system (Georgism) so its presentation and intent are purposefully straightforward and brutal.

I also believe it is your fault for not being able to find something to believe in.  Once you have enslaved yourself to other people's definitions, nothing would ever stand scrutiny.  Do you mean to say that "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" is not a worthwhile goal?

They are all over board so I figure thier thinkig any sloagan will work for them cause thier one kind one day an the next day thier a differant falvor Libertarian.

If your asking for some for some type of manfesto on what I beleve in Im working on it. Im here for answers as well I think I have good common sense and a conection to the hive mind of america

"life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" is not a worthwhile goal? the easy answer is yes but I think it is subjective to who you are asking what exactly "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" all means

One thing I can say for sure is "The consequences will never be the same"

Name: Anonymous 2010-12-31 9:17

"Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" isn't subjective, it actually meant something very objective.

Of course then uneducated intellectuals rose and freedom and liberty gets corrupted into meaning "free of wants" such as free health care..etc and liberty into liberty from the consequence of my choices (bailouts). Happiness gets corrupted into "whatever I feel like doing a whim" such as crack cocaine or whatever the hell else.

Anyhow, my 2 cents is Libertarians on a comparative scale is better than the two main parties. But their philosophy is still wonky and sometimes crosses into anarchism.

Better, but still bad.

"Uneducated intellectualism" WTF? "Freedom of wants" doesn't apply--it's about rights.

Rule 1 of Modern Politics: All political parties are corrupted or will be corrupted.

We must abolish the institution of political parties

As in DESTROY PARTISAN POLITICS

Ain't going to happen.  There will always be differing opinions from which different people will not want to budge.  Now, getting rid of inflammatory and divisive partisan politics ... not sure if that's possible either but you can always tone it down.

Having loads of independents and direct democracy would be great, the thing is this is a democracy and the government tries (in part) to obtain votes from a many people as possible, which involves reducing the complexity of the decision down to one they can grasp quickly, political parties are more succesful than independents because of this. There is also no way to stop independents forming coalitions, which would be pretty much like parties in all but name.

Political parties are not going to go away, you're just going to have to accept that and factor in this dichotomy between direct and representative democracy
