Why does the US support Israel?

I can't think of any advantages to the US supporting Israel, but I can think of a whole bunch of disadvantages.

that's not how the world works, neither the US nor israel would go after such a catastrophic action. Israel can barely contain the handful of palestinians they have, what will they do with millions of arabs under their control? They might not know how to fucking fight on a battlefield, but they are pretty good on rebelling and randomly exploding in public transportation.
