hmm.. do i want a playstation 3, xbox 360 or a wii? oh, under communism i don't have a choice because the factories would be owned by the government and I would have to take whatever they made. Also, under communism, the manufacturers could only invent these devices by some miracle of God because every facet of their operation - hiring, payment, research, capitol - would be controlled by the state.

communism works in small scale situations in which consesus can easily be reached, and the community has a hand, and also a foot in every event.
On a large scale there is no reason for those with power to be concerned with every part of the community, so they aren't, creating a despotism.
Capitalism is merely the pursuit of wealth, without entangling oneself with the question of class divisions. It isn't inherently based on class, that is, but more on distribution and value.

Well, that's the thing. 'Equality' is only maintained on that small scale (i.e. within the commune), but then you have people who are, or believe themselves to be, unequal ('better'/'worse') to members of the commune.
I do recommend reading at least Chapter 1 of the Communist Manifesto. It's still quite relevant, and not all 'KILL THE CAPITALISTS'.
Even if it did work, why would you want to live in one?

The failure of communism is not purely due to inequality. For instance some people may feel it is unjust to have to comply with the community's laws, this does not necessarily mean they believe they are superior but a communist would declare that this person believes they are superior and deserve priviledges and therefore must be persecuted regardless.
