Also, if you think Fox is left (or even CNN), you desperately need to go live in the rest of the world for a while. It's time to leave that echo chamber.
If you look at votes on gun issues in the House/Senate, you will notice that it is pretty much clearly cut - republicans support more freedom to keep and bear arms, and democrats tend to oppose it. There are some exceptions, but you should realize these are *exceptions.* The general rule of thumb is, republicans Support the Second Amendment and the democrats don't.

I used to work for an environmental company. I was a "canvasser". We'd go door to door and talk about global warming and try to get people to donate money. I quit the company not because I don't believe that global warming will EVENTUALLY be a problem, but because they offered me a base pay of $300/wk. Although it was good pay, I did the math. They expected us to take in $100 a day in donations, adding up to $500 a week. If 300 of that money is going to me and the office has to get a chunk of it, then how much is actually contributing to efforts to stop global warming?
When it comes to organizations like the one I worked for you can't doubt that their hearts are in the right place, it's how pushy and forward they are that I can't stand.
All people can really do when it comes to issues like these is try to educate each other and THAT'S IT.
If you try to make people buy solar paneling for their homes and even tell them something simple as recycle, most people won't. Perhaps it's out of spite for being told to do something.
People will make the best decision for themselves and with global warming in particular, it's really a matter of opinion.
