Also, it's in principle that it is outrageous that an assortment of dictators, fascists, communists, and mass murderers from various hell-holes the world over would have a say in what freedoms we enjoy here in the United States, or, for that matter, what laws we should have to live by. 

They've already fucked up their countries with their shitty style of government, why should they have any say what goes on here?

I really wouldn't worry too much about this gun ban.  The people in America who do own guns won't give them up without a fight.  It would litterally be suicide to try and enforce any kind ban on guns, especially hunting rifles.

It doesn't matter what firearms, or freedoms the ban took.  It was morally wrong from the beginning, IMO. 

If something was really "bad" for recreational shooters, they could always stop using it.

In Israel recently, a terrorist pulled out a fully automatic weapon in a crowd, and he only managed to shoot ONE person, before another person from the crowd pulled out a gun and shot him on the spot. 

I don't even know if the guy died from the terrorist.  It's beside the point.  All those "there will be bloodshed in the streets" claims are just scare tactics.  There is no real danger, as long as the rest of society is armed.

2/3 of gun related incidents are people protecting themselves. If you ban guns the criminals are still gonna get them (hell, there's 12 year olds in south cental L.A. running around with Tec-9's) banning guns will only make it more difficult for honest law abiding citizens to protect themselves from dangerous criminals. and like >>29 said, if every1 has a gun then the dumbass who pulls out a gun atrys to cap som1 is gonna die (thats one less criminal). Dictators have many things in common, one of them is that they take their peoples only means of resistance and defence, throughout the ages the weapons have changed, from free speech to the press, and swords to guns. This ploy for the U.N. is dangerous, because either they are doing exactly what every other dictator has done before assuming absolute control, or they are just plain idiots. Either situation is bad news.

I think it's just the fear-enducing media of the US that keeps the people armed. The message may not be direct but it's definately there: "If you don't own a gun you're in grave danger." I can't really think any reason why every law-abiding citizen shouldn't be armed. I mean guns are just tools and you can never be too prepared or have too much tools. Now what is problem is that many people don't know shit about gun safety and that is cause of 99% of gun accidents. Might be hugely reduced if gun safety was taught in schools. Not that such accidents are common problem, but gun safety classes can't be bad thing and they don't invade anyone's freedoms.
