The homeless are often told to get a job. This relies on the following assumptions:
-Someone is willing to hire them
-They can perform their job well enough not to get fired
-They aren't mentally or physically impaired
-They can have an attitiude conducive to the work environment
-Substance abuse doesn't get in the way
Assuming none of those are true, what are some job choices for the homeless?

It doesn't have to be real job. Common people have their needs too. Bums could very well water someone's lawn, I'm sure many people would pay little for that. It's just that they're not asking, hell I'm sure many people would be glad to help the bum out for free. Atleast I would if he/she was nice.

this is why we should eliminate minimum wage. businesses will be more likely to hire an incompetent worker if they were allowed to pay them what they're worth, rather than be forced to pay them what normal people are worth.
Do we realy need homeless/junkies/alcoholics? cant we just gass them or put them in camps or something?

I watched some news show where they went around offering homeless people $10 to do an hour of some kind of labor entense job - like garden work and roofing to name a couple. I don't remember the numbers - but it was something like every 11 out of 12 would NOT accept. $10 for an hour of work is a pretty good amount for someone with next to no experience and who looks as shady as alot of these people looked. Many - not all - homeless people are just unmotivated and apathetic.

Fucking hippies would complain. I say we should house homeless people in the apartments of those college kids who make a big fuss about homeless rights.

Kind of tells that their situation is their own fault rather than society's.

If they can`t live on their own, they need affordable (and good) group housing with easy access to a place of employment. If they're addicts and they slip, then they need to know that type of behaviour won`t be tolerated in their group housing.
In that same vein, if they`re not willing to work, then people shouldn`t feel obligated to help them. They CAN help them, but it shouldn`t be necessary, vis-a-vis a welfare state.
