You've got a system with bluetooth, no usb, a microphone, some simple speakers, a horrible resolution, wifi or 3g if you pay more, a bit of storage, absolutely no hardware compatibility. It's completely unchangable. It's got a touch screen.

If Apple knows at all what they're doing, they will can this thing before it is slated to hit the shelves in March. I think they must have realized they might have to - usually when they have a new release, it goes up on the Apple store that same day. Announcing it now for release in March is not like them.

The thing is that most people don't give a shit about what is inside their computer, or even come close to understanding what it is their computer is doing. As long as you can check your email and look at porn with a little pazzaz, most people are going to be happy as hell. Basically apple is going to make a shit ton of money, even if it does have some fairly glaring flaws. I mean it's actually a fairly decent price (they are most likely selling it as a loss trying to recoup it in the max-ipad flavors and iTunes/whatever the hell it is), and will take care of 80% of the casual computer user's needs.
I myself don't really like the way that apple uses vender lock, but most people could not give a shit. Hell, apple has a brilliant business model they are setting up right now, more so than microsoft if you ask me.
