I hate many things, but there is one thing I hate above all else: Wapanese. Even Goths are better than Wapanese and that is saying a lot (no offense to anyone who actually is a Goth, you are better than the Wapanese at least). Even those North Koreans who think Kim Jong-Il is so great don't irritate me as much as Wapanese.
This board and many others are filled with people who idolize Japan as though it were a holy place (and of course they have an analog to the hajj). They download torrents of Japanese commercials! They watch Japanese television and go on about great it is that Japan has the most advanced technology in the world (don't you just want to smack them with a Unabomber's Manifesto?)
However, they gloss over the real Japan, the Japan where women and foreigners are treated terribly and hyperreality engulfs all. Japan, as pointed out in another thread, is the most artificial culture in existance. Wapanese, for some reason, seem ashamed of our "primitive" culture where things are still real.
In short, Wapanese are fooling themselves and living in inauthenticity. If they are so ashamed of US culture (I don't really blame them), they should revolt against it, not look for another culture to obsess on.

I think you've missed the point, mainly how stupid it is to download commercials you'd curse and mute otherwise but want because they are from Japan, which you are convinced is the greatest nation ever.
The only redeeming part of japanese culture is that it is highly mysogonistic (WHICH IS THE NATURAL ORDER OF THINGS) and therefore they make high quality porn that treats women as the worthless sexual playthings that they are (the hot ones anyway).
There is no natural order of things, only chaos. Inauthentic reactionaries like you cling to a notion of order to shield yourself from the responsibility that freedom brings. Your Gorean bilge will do no good against me. Try as you might, you can't show that there is a natural order mandating female submission and for a good reason: it simply doesn't exist.
I'd like to offer a complete refutation of Goreanism, but I don't have the time or space right now. Rest assured that if you try gorean arguments again, I will likely be forced to tear them to shreds. Your reactionism is nothing compared to my philosophy. I suggest you free yourself from the crutch you call order.
I would hate Japan outright if it weren't for my requirement not to be racist. There is nothing redeeming about it other than the artwork that it heavilly ripped off of the West (psychoanalysis, absurdism, etc.) and I am hard pressed to find any reason to spare it my hatred other than a few personal values backed only by my distaste for suffering.

Don't look at me. It's Japan's fault. They had no right to recuperate Dada like that. Dada belonged to the West, in particular to socialists and the Japanese stole it from us. There will be peace on Earth once the system gets out of our lives and stops recuperating revolutionary concepts.
Also, Wapanese exist because Japan is taking over the world culture. Have you noticed that the U.S. is producing more and more crap and less quality film and television? Mark my words, Japan is catching up.

Japan doesn't scare me. Much of their high quality television was ripped off of the West (primarily socialists). Still, the Japanese have managed to not only recuperate many socialist concepts and artforms (dada, absurdism, existentialism, etc.), but have also managed to surpass the rest of the world technologically.

I like Japanese culture (more of the traditional stuff) and I like some japanese stuff. That said wapanese need to get a life. They are obsessing over Japan too much. There is appreciation and respect and then there is blind "faith". I realize that there are MANY MANY things WRONG with Japan. >>13
is right. Obsessing over the good while being oblivion to the bad is the way these "Christian" groups act. You make the rest of us look bad so die already. And Japan is not really technologically more advanced than the U.S. Just because the U.S. doesn't make commercial stuff as "advanced" doesn't mean they're ahead. Our military will run rings around everyone else. Although it would be nice to spend a little less on weapons and such (like $100 or so).
Just my half a cent.

blah blah intellectual beatdown of Japan
We get the point. You're smarter than a fairly large percentage of 4chan and you are massively pissed at Japan. Now, please, for the sake of everyone who has no idea what the hell you're talking about, GIVE IT A REST.
(Personally, I blame the fact that the poor bastards got their start around 900 AD and stayed mostly isolated 1853-- the way they're going, I get the feeling that the shock from the whole Treaty of Kanagawa incident hasn't worn off much.)

I'd understand you, if this were the late 19th century... have you read about the Meiji Restoration? Japan has had over 100 years to take a position on Westernization.
And yes, the era usually called "classical Japan" was circa 900 A.D., but there are written poems and works going back to the 700s, and history from far before that.

Obsessing over anything is never a healthy thing.
I'm sure anyone who has taken a Japanese 101 (or JPN I in high school) class has had the unfortunate experience of having to deal with Wapanese. It's pretty funny that as you continue the program, the numbers keep getting cut in half, as the Wapanese are waded out. Why?? Because they are only in it to get their fill of the artificial fanhood of a place and culture that they don't understand, which actually is what attracts them. However, once they realize the structure and the difficulty of having to actually become a part of that culture, they suddenly vanish.
Fandom will always happen and it's just something you have to ignore. It's sad though because then the stereotypes also carry on to people who have nothing to do with this subculture of "Japanicized Americans". (I want to make clear: what I mean by this is, that the Wapanese actually don't care about the culture or the people or the nation at all, simply the glitter.)
---
I'd like to add one more note. It's the same idolization of American culture in Japan. Everything, from American style of art and animation, to restaurants, culture and language.

You're either trolling or you have failed to inform yourself beyond superficial, overhyped, second-hand information. I'd ask you to please make an effort to go beyond stereotypes and misinformation, but those are cornerstones of the 4chan culture.
I don't know what you're talking about. My knowledge of Japan is gathered from many people I've talked to. It may have errors, I don't spend all my time researching Japanese culture, afterall, but many of my claims come from things said on this very board.

They might not idolize American animation specifically, but they sure do idolize all western culture. Just look at the ganguro girls etc.
What I hate is the way my friends eat ramen, and call Ring and Ring 2 'Ringu' and 'Ringu 2'. The way they constantly litter sentences with random japanese words (because they can't even speak japanese fluently, morons). The way they, as siad, idolise the Japanese culture and want to move there. They don't even think of the cost involved; varied insurance types, residence, immunisation jabs, getting a new job...... and so on and so forth.
Fair enough, they're all american (I'm British), and we all know most of today's teen generation hates america, but do they have to worship a country that will be one of the hardest to integrate themselves into? And all because they like ANIME.

I'm learning Japanese because I find it interesting as a language and (to a lesser extent) a culture as well, but I don't plan to "become" one of them (being a big white 外人, I'm sure that would never work). I'm fully aware of the problems with Japanese society; from reading about it, it sounds a lot like the rural US in terms of both attitudes and conveniences, and 5 years of that (Central Virginia, 1987-1992) was enough for me. Given that, I probably wouldn't want to live there very long, but I'd love to visit someday.
Unfortunately for you, I do not consider myself American and I'm hardly fat. I am actually quite thin. I abhore nationalism, though. I can't stand listening to Americans go on about how the US is the best nation in the world and your simplistic comment does not impress me.
So? Are you aware of the massive socialist influences in many manga and anime? Think about the existentialist qualities in Eva (they even named an episode or two after a line from a book by Kierkegaard). Last time I checked, it was Sartre (a diehard Marxist), not Hideaki Anno that existentialism is famous from.
And of course, consider the amount of feminist imagery in many anime series (Misato having major rank in Nerv), which is quite out of place in a misogynistic nation like Japan yet a major part of radical/socialist thought (in fact, many of the early feminist thinkers were also socialists and there is a strong connection between them).
How disappointing. I knew you were racist as hell, but I assumed the claims of nigh-superhuman intelligence had some basis in fact. If you can't distinguish a socialist revolutionary from a patriotic American, you have problems. Even Americans are vaguely aware that Iran and Iraq are different nations, for example.

FEAR THE SUPERIOR CULTURAL EXPANSE OF THE GREATER ISLES OF JAPAN
Don't give me that bullshit. Having a superior culture to the US is like being nicer than a serial killer, assuming Japan does. I don't believe it does, though. Your culture has so many flaws that it is hard to seriously call it better than American culture. At least in the US, women and foreigners aren't treated like dirt.
In addition, anime and manga are not all that great. They stole (or as I like to say, recuperated) many ideas from or associated with socialism, even when they didn't fit Japanese culture at all (I'm thinking of the blondes and women in positions of power as well as the frequent existential angst and notions of pacifism).

>>52 What are you talking about?! Foreigners are anything but treated nice in America, they are only treated nice in some of the larger cities of America. America, on a whole, is very racist, that's why we have to have strict laws against it.
Also, not every anime and manga follows what you say. You could say the same for American art, books, movies, and music actually, for example, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Sesame Street, etc. Given, lots of media in Japan does not correctly reflect Japanese culture, but when was the last time you watched a movie that screams American culture?
Name some examples. I don't see xenophobia at all in the US. It's one of the few good things about the US. In the south, maybe it's true, but on the whole, I don't see any

wapanese just want to look cool and live in the fast lane, and idolizing japanese things and latching onto new stuff that comes from there is how they imagine it can be done. Its probably more like a hobby to them than an obsession.
Southern racism is vastly overstated. Even semi-racists americans might not be your friends, but they won't treat you like shit for no reason and kick you out of their restraunts. In addition, Japan is universally hated in east asia, except by a few worthless kotakus in korea.

Where could one download US & European commercials anyway?
I'm horrible with searching, I just turn up company websites.
I used to have a link to a megasite that looked like newgrounds for commercials (minus the submission portal of course) but lost it when I switched computers. I neglected to move my old browser over.

For all wapanese, i beg you all to stop being wapanese, your only making a fool out of yourselves. You can have interest in Japanese products, and anime, but don't make Japanese a part of reality, don't try to tie it in with your philosophy of life, or suggest an indication that JAPAN is superior to all other cultures.
Because Japan, like all other civilizations are flawed, some basic conditions (housing, day to day living, work) are actually worse than it is in America and other Western Countries.
The culture of Japan is even backwards in their way of thinking. But nowadays i can see that with the younger generation growing and refusing to be like their parents, also the older generation dissapearing, the culture is changing to a hopefully more international, and livable place for foreigners, where the traditional greetings/way of speaking, and the 'japanese way' dissolve and become unnesessary.
So idiolizing japan, thinking of it as a Utopia, the idea culture, is a big mistake, because in reality it is not. And so whenever a wapanese introduce their throughts into reality (Ie. going to japan , learning Japanese, interacting with anything that is genuine japanese) it hits them like a brick
Everything all of a sudden contradicts with those baseless, useless ideas that they've harbored over the years.
Not only do you feel like a complete idiot once you awake form your dream, you feel ashamed of yourself for being so naive and bringing embarassement to other people (especially the Japanese). You will feel so ashamed that you will want to hide and never see those people that you unleashed your wapaneseness onto. You'll stand there and say, 'what the fuck am i doing'.
You'll probably never want to look at anything Japanese again since it would remind you of the horror of the time when you awoke from that nonsense.
the longer you are wapanese the more explosive and worse the awakening will be. And i know this because i used to be one, but thank god it lasted only a short time. I could see how more ashamed and embarrsement of myself I would be if i just kept on going.
being wapanese is like having a problem like obsessive-compulsive or some shit like that. I watch Anime and read Manga but that doesn't mean I go around Yelling "JAPAN ZOMFG IT SO AWESOME! FUCK YOU WESTERNERS!" I like some of the Japanese stuff, and I'd like to go and experience the culture. But hell I'd like to go to america just as much as well. Waps have something wrong with them, they are best ignored.
I like anime, manga, games, and fap material, and I like Japan as a country and culture just like I like Spain. I'm also interested on learning Japanese. To overall like Japan doesn't make me a wap because I can tell what's good and what's bad from Japan, and I don't go posting KAWAII DESU NE LOL OMG, nor I reject my culture and nationality and try to become Japanese just because anime is kawaii.
