I got Minecraft (Alpha) yesterday. I played for a few hours. I made a castle, a dungeon, and a house. I realized that's pretty much what the entire game was. It's like Legos, but slower and you can kill stuff. If you're thinking about getting it, the free version is almost exactly the same. The weapons/enemies don't really add anything to the game. Don't waste 9.95 Euros on it.

It's not actually leaked. It was hosted on Minecrafts official site without even password protection, and with both Notch and Jeb endorsing it. It's a nightly build crossed with a publicity stunt, but Mojang understands that Minecraft fans are too derp to understand such lingo.

The best part is that endermen doesn't do 3 1/2 hearts of damage like the wiki says they do. Judging by that video, they only do a single heart of damage, making them the weakest mob in the entire game. They're black and they steal stuff, and that's it. Notch made niggers.

Minecraft 1.8 added 228 bugs to the already huge list of bugs. At this point you can't even smelt anything without the game crashing. ...and it's bugs that just shouldn't be there, like Ender Pearls being duplicated when picked up, but not any other items, leading me to believe that Mojang programmed individual pick-up routines for each item.

I was looking forward to facing the few dangers that were, like the possibility of starving to death, giant venomous spiders, and endermen. Did we get any of that? No, of course not. Unless you play on the hardest difficulty, starvation won't actually kill you, giant spider venom won't kill you either, and the frail endermen die from wading in common water and from sunlight. Anything to preserve the sheltered lives of the noob horde, who still has trouble not setting their own wooden houses on fire.

The silverfish farming is another way (besides XP spamming) that griefing made easy:
Once you release a silverfish, direct it to a room, trap it in there and hit it once. It will spawn MORE silverfish, who in turn will spawn MORE silverfish, until the server lags all to hell. You can also put it in a large room with a cactus, to automate the process.
I also suspect that if you just simply release and leave a silverfish inside a stronghold, it will dig out the stronghold, turning every brick into a silverfish horde.
One you have farmed a sufficient army, you can also release it upon the world, on the surface or in their basements.

Here's a fun NEW way to crash a Minecraft server.

Minecrafts physics engine is attrocious.
It would make physics teachers cry.
Each physics object has a velocity that can increase and decrease, but this velocity is modified by what block the object is currently travelling through, because every block has its own temporal pocket where time flows differently.
The spiderweb temporal pocket has a time factor of 0.25. This means that while inside this block, objects will slow down to a fourth of their speed.
A bed or a door has a time factor of 0, meaning that objects will freeze in time while using or entering them respectively.
The object doesn't deaccelerate (lose its velocity). It just freezes in time. This works, until the object EXITS the spiderweb, EXITS the bed, or the door OPENS again, whereupon the object RESUMES its normal unfactored velocity again.

Have you ever seen an arrow patiently waiting for a door to open and UNFREEZE its velocity, outside a Looney Toons cartoon? In Minecraft you can. Shoot an arrow into a closed door and then open it. Shoot ONE HUNDRED arrows into the door, and I bet you'll lag and crash the server without any mod even having a clue as to why.
