Pathetic?  Nah.  I'm bored.  Living off a trust fund for the rest of ones' life isn't nearly as fun as it sounds.

SOUNDS PRETTY PATHETIC TO ME

Guess that makes you a perfect candidate for being a "jRPG expert".

What games have you played? D&D shit(Planescape Torment is very odd gem in that department and maybe best electronic RPG ever) and Final Fantasy? Japanese tend to be creative and I love their visual talents, but they aren't exactly good writers when it comes to RPGs. Stories tend to be pretty bad, cliched and not deep in any sense. This maybe partly due to language barrier, but honestly I don't think they'd edit tons of dialog out. I don't have anything against typical JRPG concepts or ideas, but what they need is "dynamic" storylines, good writers and ofcourse less fighting. Though saying that say Fallout has good story is kind of oxymoron too. American RPGs tend suffer storywise from same things as JRPGs, although they're quite often better. JRPGs need better writers, alternative paths to finish game/quests and ofcourse less FORCED fighting.

He hasn't played any jRPG's.  He's just being a dick.

Name: Anonymous 2006-08-23 1:25

You do realize that >>86 was providing an argument for why jRPGs suck so much, right?

Name: Anonymous 2006-08-23 9:03

>>88
Your logic is retarded, JRPGS are better that's why they sell so much in every part of the world

Name: Anonymous 2006-08-23 9:09

Disgaea. By far.

Name: Anonymous 2006-08-23 11:29

>>89
1.  oblivion
2.  don't use "Your ____ is retarded.  ____ is better."  if you don't know how to use it correctly.

Name: Anonymous 2006-08-23 14:09

>>88
Actually, he was being critical with both.
>>89
>>91
Sadly for you, 89 used it correctly, and he is also correct.  American RPG's sell well in America and parts of Europe...Japanese RPG's sell world-wide.

Why?

Because they're better, and the rest of the world who isn't backwards knows it.

GRAH! WEEABOO CAN'T EXCEPT THOSE BAKAS. BAKAS BAKAS BAKAS BAKAS.

DON'T TELL ME HOW TO USE "YOUR ____ IS RETARDED.  ____ IS BETTER.", I FUCKING INVENTED IT YOU FUCKFACE.  >>89 USED IT INCORRECTLY.

also, lol sales, oblivion sold well all over the world, including australia (which you apparently have never heard of), and japan.  second, if sales determine quality, then i guess we should all worship britney spears as the greatest musician of all time.

Your logic is retarded.  Caps are better.

Name: Anonymous 2006-08-26 13:01

>>93
They're only grind fests if you don't know what the fuck you're doing.  As is the case with most American RPGers.

>>95
Oblivion is one in how many again?  Oh yeah.

And while sales do not determine quality, pathetic sales do.  Pathetic sales is what most American RPG's face on the global market.  Therefore, most of the world recognises American RPG's are crap.  Except Americans, who think anything made in America is superior.  Like Ford *snicker*.

Name: Anonymous 2006-08-26 14:49

>>95
The only good thing about Australia is Mad Max, bitch.

Name: Anonymous 2006-08-26 18:46

Let's see... I've heard great things about Xenosage and .Hack. If you're into MMO's, there's MapleStory. Not particularly great, but free.

As for plain RPGs that I've played and can verify the awesomeness of:

EarthBound
Tales of Symphonia (anyone who disagree needs to castrate themselves)
ChronoTrigger
Diablo
Diablo II
Diablo II: Lord of Destruction (Expansion pack of II)
Guild Wars
Well of Souls (not particularly great, but not TOO bad)

And that's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Lies.

Pathetic sales don't determine quality, they determine which games were marketed poorly.  And Oblivion is one in many recent games with good sales, including Fable, Diablo 2, WoW, Guild Wars, etc.

Name: Anonymous 2006-08-27 0:49

>>101
So nearly EVERY American RPG is marketed poorly.

Got your head stuck up your own ass far?

Name: Anonymous 2006-08-27 2:36

>>102
lol wat?  >>101 listed a bunch that sold well.

Name: Anonymous 2006-08-27 2:56

Do you even realize the number of jRPGs that fail horribly?  Amazing, a stupid weeaboo defending jRPGs that doesn't even pay attention to the market in Japan.

Do you even realize the number of WESTERNSRPGS that fail horribly?  Amazing, a stupid weeAMERIKAN defending WESTERNSRPGS that doesn't even pay attention to the market in AMERIKA.
fixed

>>104
captain obvious you are my hero!, the number of rpgs made in japan outstand the ones made in america or europe by 10 to 1
so is obvious that is going to be more generic rpgs in japan than in america

Name: Anonymous 2006-08-27 10:58

>>106
yeah, and america outnumbers japan in GOOD rpgs

Name: Anonymous 2006-08-27 11:36

>>103
That's a bunch?!  Wow...and here I thought it was less than half a handful.

>>104
Do you realize the amount of jRPG's that are released outside Japan that fail horribly?  Yeah, less than 5%.

Now sit down and drink your god-damned milk like a good little boy.

>>107
I noted your sarcasm and approve of said sarcasm.

Name: Anonymous 2006-08-27 12:42

Guys, we need to realize that both American and Japanese RPGs fail, but fail in different ways.  Let us celebrate their differences.

Name: Anonymous 2006-08-27 16:42

Do you realize the amount of jRPG's that are released outside Japan?  Yeah, they are all from Square.

And >>107 wasn't being sarcastic.

congratulations, you have no argument and you just proved it by attempting to insult everyone who disagreed with you.  no wonder you are so obsessed with jrpgs, the retarded gameplay is a perfect match with someone as simple minded as you.

Name: Anonymous 2006-08-28 2:12

lolz

Name: Anonymous 2006-08-28 11:21

>>117
Dude, that wasn't a point argument.  That is what is called a counter-rebuttal.  What does that mean?  Well, why don't I educate you!

When an argument/dicussion occurs, it can go in one of several directions.  If it is on the internet, it will invariably fall in one direction: Childishness.  The replies 116 gave are to people who provided no case towards the argument at hand, but rather to simple-minded (childish) rebuttals.  Once replies to the argument fall into this category, one must always reply in kind, for it is the understanding of all parties involved that the "side being replied to" only understands that base-level of rebutting.  Or, rather, that the "other side" is no longer able to continue a reasonably-minded and intellectual argument.

Therefore, again, all replies are written in such a way that it is understood the "other side of the argument" is able to comprehend.

tl;dr version: If >>110, >>111, & >>115 (if not the same person) wishes to continue the argument/discussion on an intellectual level, and is prepared to provide proof of their outlandish claims, then "Bring it".  Otherwise, they may fade away, comforted in the knowledge that the American RPG user is seen as being of simple mind.
