Hey /g/, I'm a failure, I can't figure out how to set up my D-Link DSL-2540B ADSL Router/Modem combo. Neither D-Link, nor my ISP (Verizon) care to help me. D-Link tells me to call my provider, my provider tells me to pay 100 dollars.
Is there anyone who could help me set this up? ;_;

I can't, or well, I don't want to pay to break the fucking contract.

At AdBux, you get paid to click on ads and visit websites.
The process is easy! You simply click a link and view a website for 30 seconds to earn money.
You can earn even more by referring friends.
Payment requests can be made every day and are processed through PayPal.
The minimum payout is $10.00.
Earnings Example
You click 25 ads per day = $0.25!
10 referrals click 25 ads per day = $2.50!
Your weekly earnings = $19.25!
Your monthly earnings = $77.00!
The above example is based only on 10 referrals and 25 daily clicks.
What if you had more referrals? What if there were more ads available? Your earnings are virtually endless. http://adbux.org/?r=kicknick199 http://adbux.org/?r=kicknick199

they already broke contract with failing to provide the customer service you now pay for.
tell them to take you to court to get the money then. amazing how many ISP's falter at this step as they basically have to tell the presiding judge that they refused to assist with your connection to their network that you're currently paying for.
doesnt look too good when things like that are on the record...

is this a adsl router you bought and are now trying to set up?
or is this one they provided?
verizon has the right to refuse free setup on third-party/non-supported hardware.

You're fucked, pay and drop your ISP; beg that they let you, else pay. There's no chance in hell you're going to win a trial against a large corporation, and even if your lawyers did, they'll take all your money and you'll end up losing money. If you ever have trouble with a corporation, you're in a lose-losemore or rapedintheass-rapedintheasswithaniggercock situation. Justice is about that; it's about who has more money and who can make the more retarded, depraved, foul interpretation of the piece of shit written law already is. You're fucked, better hire some guys to wait for them in a dark alley and kick their ass; it's more effective, faster, cheaper justice.

Third party, yes. The modem they supplied me with is dieing a very slow death - But that isn't the entire point, since now I have need of getting 3 computers on the same line. I just wish I could get someone to help me figure this out.
My ISP has no problem helping to set up MODEMS, but when it comes to routers, or any networking, they pull this "PREMIUM" shit on you. 10 month contract, for 9.99 a month. ..Just to help me set up my router. They're cock suckers. I wish I had bought my router before this premium bullshit came around, because I know they didn't have it when I last checked their website, 5 or 6 months ago.
And lawsuits aren't my thing, consider me too poor to be able to go through with it.

what do you mean the modem was dying?
anyway, if dsl is similar to cable, they have to send a signal to your new modem so that the MAC address is registered with your account. so until you can get them to at least do that, there's not much we can help you with.

It stops working after some hours of use, just dies, and needs to cool down for a bit before it'll work again.
The MAC address? I think I remember reading something about that on a tech forum somewhere. Something about the router's web interface having an option to copy the current MAC address.. I'll have to check it out later, see if I can find it on mine, assuming there is one. If not, I'll check with my provider.
Oh, and you do mean the modem, right? I remember they did a "line test" to make sure everything was connected properly last time I called them, is that the same thing, or do I need to ask for something specific?

done.
if your ISP doesnt provide that information. they break contract.
