Cannot surf while Bittorrent is on

Name: Anonymous 2006-04-24 8:16

hey guys i have a 1mb connection with a estimated max dl speed of about 100kbps. however if my azureus is on no matter what my download speed will be (even if i am downloading at 10kbps), websites take forever to load, if at all.

when it fails to load it just gives me to log in screen to connect to my ISP. wtf? of course my internet is still on.

it is fine if my BT is off. it shouldnt be this way. is there any way around it?

Are you using uTorrent? if so, fuck that shit off.

Normally you need upload and download to surf the web. You send requests (upload) to a server and get data (download, eg. websites with images etc.). 1mbit should have about 16 KB upload (max). Just cap your upload in your bittorrent client to 10 KB or 5 KB and the rest will be used for surfing the web.

Log-on ISP for the fail. Switch to a real ISP NOW!

learn to read.

Set up your max upload speed to 3KB less than your upload capacity, it could help.

i tried it, it does not work,as long as im downloading torrents, websites will not load at all, even less-graphics intensive sites such as this board :(

as >>6 implies, is this really a network related problem?

Name: Anonymous 2006-04-24 13:38

Could be the fact that azureus is java based and eats memory...

meaning? internet explorer doesnt load too

maybe, ill look into it. it sucks from having an 8mb connection, then downgrading to 1mb ;(

Doesn't it have to do with the connections all being used? BitComet most of the time has up to 300 connections.

I'm more inclined to agree with 11 here. perhaps your ISP has a max ammount of simultaneous connections, or even your router is holding you back here. That or your 1MB connection is not trully 1MB

Could be your router, or a low quality modem. I have this problem with utorrent.

btw even if it works its really erratic going from 100kbps to 40, then 100kbps again at regular intervals. wtf?

Don't change these.
