Ah, AFU as in "All Fucked Up"
It all makes sense to me now...

All the stuff I was doing before was on the unpatched game. I'm trying a few permutations of stuff on the patched version (different ATCodes, removing the ENCODEKOR flag, etc.) but I'm not having any luck.

My dump.txt is encoded as ANSI, so I'm pretty sure that's right, but I'll mess around with a couple other things first.

You guys are running in Japanese locale, right?

Name: Anonymous 2012-10-09 23:34

>>121
Yup, been running this since forever (it doesn't really mess up the system fonts so, makes it easier for me when I wanna play some VNs).

Name: Anonymous 2012-10-09 23:35

>>121
Also, things are more stable using the patched version. Just the text isn't showing up right, but it's better than "No matching text" and crashing.

scroll to the bottom and theres fixline.dat
you can give that a try

Says you don't have permission

Your file has no line endings.  It is all on one line.  Is it supposed to be this way?

Name: Anonymous 2012-10-10 2:09

Alright, I got it to work!

Megaupload converted the file to Unicode.  Re-open it and save as ANSI again.  I'm using the patched game with the ATCode from the plugin.

So am I not needed?
I'm glad you guys could get it resolved if so.  If not, I'll have some free time later tomorrow but until then I'm incredibly strapped for time.

Status update. So I replaced the FixLine.dat with the fixed one in the Altered Fable directory and applied the filter code AND reencoded the dump text into ANSI.

Still not getting English... am I doing something wrong here?

Try these ATCodes, from the site that >>124 linked
ENCODEKOR,FORCEFONT(15),HOOK(Vm60.dll!0x0000F9BC,TRANS([ESP+0x28],PTRCHEAT))
ENCODEKOR,FORCEFONT(15),HOOK(Vm60.dll!0x000131AA,TRANS([ESP+0x28],PTRCHEAT))
ENCODEKOR,FORCEFONT(15),HOOK(Vm60.dll!0x0001105C,TRANS([ESP+0x28],PTRCHEAT))
ENCODEKOR,FORCEFONT(15),HOOK(Vm60.dll!0x0001314A,TRANS([ESP+0x28],PTRCHEAT))

Not sure if it will work, but it's worth a try.

Well, after reinstalling the game, I appear to have gotten it to work.

Two issues I've found so far
- The final character of every line isn't displayed. This isn't a huge problem, as I can always duplicate the last character of every translated line as a workaround.

- Line breaks don'
t take apostrophes into account, so you get some weird line breaks sometimes.

Now to do a read-through...

Name: Anonymous 2012-10-10 21:52

Alright I played up to the first choice.  Two big issues:
Sometimes it randomly throws in lines from earlier.  It seems like these cover up ... lines with something that character said earlier most of the time.

Also, menus don't work right.  I have no clue what the problem is here, so I'm not even going to try to guess.

Really great job on the translation, though.

Care to do a little walkthrough on how you set up AralTrans and Altered Fable? Also, can you upload the dump.txt you used?

Been trying to get this work and I'm at a point where I'm doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

Name: Anonymous 2012-10-10 22:17

>>134
I used this dump.txt http://www.mediafire.com/view/?wdw3gbd944lj1cq
but after downloading it, I opened it in notepad, went to Save As, and changed the type to ANSI

After that, I downloaded the patch for AF from http://www.age-soft.co.jp/support.htm (it's the link with ALTFABLE in the name) and applied it. (just run it in your altered fable directory)

After that, I followed the image guide from https://archive.foolz.us/a/thread/72766928/#72773973's image.  Be sure to use the earlier dump.txt and not the one that ships with the plugin.

Also, there are 2 versions of Altered Fable.  If you go to Help and About, I have 5.80.36.  I don't think anyone's had any luck with the other version.

Name: Anonymous 2012-10-10 22:28

>>135
That's weird, because applying the patch should update it to  5.80.50AFU

Yeah, the random line thing happens when a line hasn't been hooked. I suspected that there were some missing lines in dump.txt, so I'll have to make another pass on the script with the dump tool to see if I can shake out those missing lines.

What do you mean by "menus don't work"? Do you mean the choices? Because that may just be a case of me not hooking the choices correctly. The format's pretty picky. Also, the current iteration of dump.txt only has the first option of the first choice hooked. (The others have been translated, though)

Is there a way to change the default AralTrans font? The current font's making my eyes bleed.

>>137
They are displaying incorrectly, like #1 and #4 display, and only #4 is clickable, and it leads to #1's branch.  Probably a syntax problem.

Name: NullPointer 2012-10-10 23:49

>>137
Unfortunately there's no way that I know of to change the font.  The font that the text uses is only the Shift-JIS format of English characters.  If I were to try to change the font, it might have to be internal and not within the plugin.

Keep listing issues and I'll try to address everything at once later.

Thanks, >>135

I dunno why it's working now but... it's working!

A kink you might wanna investigate:
Right now there's a bulletpoint in place of a closing bracket for most, if not all, of the dialogue lines. I think that's what was being talked about before.

Still, much thanks to all you guys who pitched in for this project!

Name: NullPointer 2012-10-11 0:29

>>140
I can resolve that in the next version I push out soon hopefully.

I recently moved onto an SSD and I could not get any text to hook properly until applying the patch listed here >>135 .
It's probably necessary at this point but I'm not sure why as I did not need it on my previous HDD.

What would be nice if someone were to apply colors to relevant names in the game.
Going from (C) menu bar-> (F) option -> left most tab, you can add names with the (N) button near the top.  You can find the same format in any of the previous translated ML games to keep the color scheme consistent between them.
If you could upload the rio.ici and Vmreg files in age folder in my documents, other users can apply the color settings by copy pasting it into their own directory.

Name: Anonymous 2012-10-11 0:36

>>141
But that's the weird thing, I did a clean installation without even applying the patches. I just used the ATcode you allowed us to copy for convenience in AralTrans, the fixed FixLine.dat, and the provided filter code.

Name: Jutsuki Sen 2012-10-11 22:35

>>141
Good idea. I didn't realize that the text color settings would apply to the AralTrans stuff. It feels a lot more familiar with the old colors back...
Now if only I could change the font to MS PGothic... Then it would almost feel like the real thing!

Status:
Still doing a readthrough, and I'm changing certain characters to jive with the new font. For example, the fullwidth ~ looks weird compared to the halfwidth one, and the ellipsis character is vertically centered, so I'm switching it over to three dots.

Name: Anonymous 2012-10-11 23:12

How far are you into translation Jutsuki?
Marvelous work here

Name: Jutsuki Sen 2012-10-11 23:16

>>144
Airsoft arc is fully translated (~25% of the game), I'm just finding missing lines and hooking them back up.

Name: Anonymous 2012-10-12 20:46

>>143

Better than hooking lines manually eh?

Name: Jutsuki Sen 2012-10-12 21:42

I've found another issue.
After re-hooking some of the missing lines, I found that they still don't work. The translator plugin must not be finding them correctly.
That would probably explain why they weren't found by the dump tool.

One example would be the fact that the translator tool can't distinguish between
――タケルちゃーん!<
and
――タケルちゃーーん!!<

Here's a WIP script so you can see for yourselves.

With this version I've addressed the last bracket turning into a dot issue and redid how the choices are handled.

I still have to address the problem around line 20 or so where Sumika is calling out to Takeru.  I have no idea why it starts spewing lines out from the intro scenes.

I'll be quite busy this week but will check on this thread frequently.  Please note any more problems and I'll try to resolve them.

Name: Anonymous 2012-10-14 18:08

>>148
Also, I don't know if my more recent dumping tool changed how it worked originally but I have the choices set up like this currently:
1、行けェッ純夏ッ!!

1. Go, Sumika!!
2、冥夜、武士の魂って奴をオレに見せてくれ!

2. Meiya, show me what a warrior’s spirit is truly like!
3、悪いが悠陽、宿命を受け入れてくれ

3. Sorry, Yuuhi, but please accept your fate!
4、ここはひとつ……霞でどうか?<
4. Uhh, for now… how about Kasumi?<

Ah, sweet, I'll try this new version out. I'll post a laundry list of all of the lines that I've found were missing in the new version. (Warning: it could be long)

Hopefully that'll help you debug this issue.

I need this so bad.

Name: Jutsuki Sen 2012-10-21 0:11

Okay, so here's the (hopefully) complete script, along with a list of all of the missing lines.

I also noticed that some lines are no longer detected by the plugin. These are marked in the missinglines file by a (NOT DETECTED)

http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?b3b1sje34z8pljf

Hopefully you can use this to debug and test the plugin.

Thanks a lot for your work.
I'll work on this over the week and hopefully have a new version to push out next weekend.

Name: Anonymous 2012-10-26 16:02

So does this translate only the airsoft arc, or everything from the start of the game to the end of the airsoft arc?

Name: Anonymous 2012-10-26 16:36

>>155
The latter.

Name: Anonymous 2012-10-31 20:06

Any luck?

Name: Anonymous 2012-10-31 20:07

How are the translators besides Jutsuki Sen doing? Like Diel, Sachibelle, etc.

Name: Anonymous 2012-10-31 20:08

>>158
I wouldn't get my hopes up seeing as we've heard from neither.

Name: Anonymous 2012-10-31 20:10

I thought Sachibelle was still waiting for tech issues to be sorted to start
