Like its nice you keep posting it, but until something is announced this isn't all that relevant. I honestly don't care for yet another kawaii uguu lesbian show.

Name: Anonymous 2012-05-11 13:22

kawaii uguu lesbian show it may end up being, but sci-fi action is good enough for me

Name: Anonymous 2012-05-11 13:38

definitely umetsu.

It's probably Umetsu. Isn't that good enough for you?

Damn homolust
Seriously, what happened Bones?

New KyoAni's directing staff in Hyouka
- (Su)Nao Naito (Assistant AD ep1)
- Taichi Ogawa (Assistant Episode Director ep 3)
- Rika Ota (Episode Director ep 11.5)

>Rika Ota (Episode Director ep 11.5)

Is that supposed to be 11,5 (episode 11 and 5) or are we getting a special/recap after 11?

Name: Anonymous 2012-05-11 14:04

Nishigori just love moe girls
no good for the action genre

Name: Anonymous 2012-05-11 14:05

>>16
It's a special episode(probably a fan-service episode) that will be streamed on USTREAM, and the disc will be bundled with the novel.
It takes place between episode 11 and 12.

Well, he will surely bring a lot of ex-Gainax guys to work with him.
That's good enough.

Naruto Kouda ep a good?
Yamashita was there?

Name: Anonymous 2012-05-11 14:58

if it is Umetsu, I'd be overjoyed. The man certainly knows how to pull off some slick direction and visuals

except Kite Liberator

I dunno what the hell went wrong there

Ouran Host Club & No.6 had loads of homolust. Nothing new for BONES.

Name: Anonymous 2012-05-11 16:42

You mean the latest one? Looked better than usual, but there were just a handful of interesting cuts, nothing too great.

Nishigori could do good stuff in an action show but it doesn't really matter, at this point it's almost certain that this is Umetsu. The fact that Umetsu talked about being hard at work on a bishoujo show in his blog a while ago is pretty telling.

No, Yamashita wasn't there. Hell even Kouda wasn't presented. My guess is that Rock Lee episode took priority

>>23
the scene that starts at 13:00 looked quite good

Kouda's explosion effects are so shoddy.

Name: Anonymous 2012-05-12 2:36

Wasurenagumo is really well-made.

Name: Anonymous 2012-05-12 6:57

someone wrote that the apollon cuts are rotoscoped.
Well that's not exactly true.

It's right that they used video reference because you obviously can't animate someone playing drums if you can't play the drums in real life.

but
they didn't traced them, (if you guys are talking about Sentaro's drum solo in Ep.1 )

It wasn't rotoscoped, it was basically drawn from a video reference.

The same technique was used on this Haruhi Clip.
http://youtu.be/xiEDIrFj3Cs

It's not roto. The difference is that the drawings are drawn totally accurate with the video reference.

Just take a look at Sentaro's face, I don't think his face was rotoscoped LOL.

oh god, why is this place still called "animation appreciation thread";;;;;;
what happened to "sakuga"

I thought we would define japanese animation as "sakuga".

Like people define japanese comics as "manga"

Name: Anonymous 2012-05-12 7:31

>>30
Because weeaboo a shit

Name: Anonymous 2012-05-12 10:38

>>30

Even japanese animators themselves doesn't use the word sakuga often.

Name: Anonymous 2012-05-12 11:38

>>30
Sakuga is too weeaboo and elitist: see the last thread http://dis.4chan.org/read/anime/1325612276/ for when it got changed.

It's hard to say, animators use references for alot of things all the time. Top tier animators from Ghibli or Madhouse will go out and record footage of actions to use as reference. Like for Spirited Away, when Chihiro feeds the dragon some medicine, they visited a vet and saw something similar done with animals and they used that for reference.

Or for a movie I can't recall now, but there was a woman running along the road, they had a girl dress up in a coat and run behind a camera mounted on a truck and used that as reference. So yeah, there are a lot of movements which I'm sure animators are not aware of personally but I think it's fine they use them for video reference.

Ryo-chimo did the same thing for TokiKake, with the only difference that it was him who was recorded running.
